  • This study investigates the effects of privacy psychological characteristics of B2C logistics services users on their willingness to comply with their logistics companies' information protection policy. Using cognitive valence theory as a theoretical framework, this study proposes a research model to examine the relationships between users' logistics security knowledge, privacy trust, privacy risk, privacy concern, and their willingness of information protection policy compliance. To test the proposed model, we conducted a survey from actual users of logistics services and collected valid 151 samples. We analyzed the data using a structural equation modeling software. The empirical results show that logistics security knowledge positively affects privacy trust; privacy concern positively influences privacy risk; privacy trust, privacy risk, and privacy concern positively influence behavioral willingness of compliance. However, logistics security knowledge does not affect behavioral willingness of compliance. The results of the study provide several contributions to the literature of B2C logistics services domain and managerial implications to logistics services companies.

  • This study investigates how librarians view library user privacy. To this end, a four-part survey was conducted: respondents' opinions about the privacy of library users, the degree to which library records violate the users' privacy, the role libraries and librarians fulfill to ensure user privacy protection, and librarians' need for privacy education. Results showed that librarians were very aware of privacy issues, but they perceived that library users' privacy awareness was not high. In particular, they had little knowledge of what library records or which library tasks might have the potential to violate users' privacy. In addition, awareness efforts of librarians to ensure user privacy was very low. On the other hand, the need for library user privacy educational programs was shown to be very high, and the willingness to participate was also relatively high.

  • This study was conducted on the observation that the filter bubble and privacy violation problems are related to the personalized services provided by libraries. This study discussed whether there is the possibility for invasion of privacy when libraries provide services utilizing state-of-the-art technology, such as location-based services, context aware services, RFID-based services, Cloud Services, and book recommendation services. In addition, this study discussed the following three aspects: whether or not users give up their right to privacy when they provide personal information for online services, whether or not there are discussions about users' privacy in domestic libraries, and what kind of risks the filter bubble problem can cause library users and what are possible solutions. This study represents early-stage research on library privacy in Korea, and can be used as basic data for privacy research.

  • The mobile payment app market has been expanding recently. However, the usage rate of mobile payment apps is not meeting service providers' expectations due to concerns about security and privacy. This study investigated how personal predisposition and how the security signals of the payment app affect users' perceived privacy and security risks, and how these factors ultimately affect the trust of mobile payment apps. The results showed that privacy concerns increase the risk of perceived personal information leaks and reduce perceived mobile system security, while familiarity, perceived reputation, and assurance seal reduce the risk of perceived personal information leaks and increase perceived mobile system security. Finally, it revealed that the reduced risk of perceived personal information leaks and the increased security of mobile systems had a positive impact on the reliability of mobile payment apps.

  • The primary purpose of this study is to examine the effects of privacy concern on user's satisfaction and continuance intention in SNS. Based on relevant literature reviews, this study posits five characteristics, that is, privacy concern, perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, satisfaction, and continuance intention as key factors. And then we structured a research model and hypotheses about relationship between these variables. A total 298 usable survey responses of SNS users have been employed in the analysis. The major findings from the data analyses are as follows. Firstly, privacy concern had a significant influence upon perceived usefulness and enjoyment, however, privacy concern had not a significant influence upon satisfaction Secondly, perceived usefulness and enjoyment had a positive influence upon satisfaction. Lastly, user's perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, and satisfaction had significantly related to continuance intention in SNS. From this study, we expect to suggest practical and managerial implications to SNS providers.

As the result in the participant who cognize the privacy policy display pattern, they have certain type to do. In this article, the certain behavior doing is remarkable with the privacy policy. According to privacy concern, privacy fundamentalist reveals such a compromise reaction to protect their information when they know what information which the privacy manager of service provider collect. This study arrives at the result depending on the gap of privacy group that the group of checking the policy contents, especially the group which has high privacy concern, they move forward to protect their emotion and put a constructive plan into protective action. Otherwise, the group of unchecking the policy contents and following their own thinking of privacy policy are not deemed statistically significant. Therefore, this is considered to support more various implications than the previous issues and alternatives about privacy policy pattern and user protection behavior of privacy.

  • As the highly improved Internet and information technology has led to the diversification of users' demands, personalization service attract lots of attention as a means to meet highly diversified demand of users. However, personalization service costs a lot. Also concerns over a possible violation of privacy have been raised since the service uses technology to find out the users' profiles. This research studies the advantages individuals acquire from personalization service and how privacy concern influences service acceptance. Research on related documents and information gathering from e-commerce sites derived six representative types of service. Questionnaires were utilized to research privacy concern according to services, service usefulness, and service acceptance. As expected, privacy concern has a negative relation to acceptance while service usefulness has a positive relation to it, thereby resulting in an offset between two variables. Moreover, they play a different role depending on what kinds of service or in formation should be provided. The results derived from this paper will help the e-commerce sites provide personalization service by collecting personal information while protecting users' privacy.

  • Context-aware computing, as a core of smart space development, has been widely regarded as useful in realizing individual service provision. However, most of context-aware services so fat are in its early stage to be dispatched for actual usage in the real world, caused mainly by user's privacy concerns. Moreover, since legacy context-aware services have focused on acquiring in an automatic manner the extra-personal context such as location, weather and objects near by, the services are very limited in terms of quality and variety if the service should identify intra-personal context such as attitudes and privacy concern, which are in fact very useful to select the relevant and timely services to a user. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to propose a novel methodology to infer the user's privacy concern as intra-personal context in an intelligent manner. The proposed methodology includes a variety of stimuli from outside the person and then performs model-based reasoning with social theory models from model base to predict the user's level of privacy concern semi-automatically. To show the feasibility of the proposed methodology, a survey has been performed to examine the performance of the proposed methodology.

  • SNS enables people to easily connect and communicate with each other. People share information, including personal information, through SNS. Users are concerned about their privacies, but they unconsciously or consciously disclose their personal information on SNS to interact with others. The privacy of a self-disclosed person can be intruded by others. A person can write, fabricate, or distribute a story using the disclosed information of another even without obtaining consent from the information owner. Many studies focused on privacy intrusion, especially from the perspective of a victim. However, only a few studies examined privacy intrusion from the perspective of an intruder on SNS. This study focuses on the intention of privacy intrusion from the perspective of an intruder on SNS and the factors that affect intention. Privacy intrusion intentions are categorized into two types. The first type is intrusion of privacy by writing one's personal information without obtaining consent from the information owner;, whereas the other type pertains to intrusion of privacy by distributing one's personal information without obtaining consent from the information owner. A research model is developed based on motivation theory to identify how these factors affect these two types of privacy intrusion intentions on SNS. From the perspective of motivation theory, we draw one extrinsic motivational factor (response cost) and four intrinsic motivational factors, namely, perceived enjoyment, experience of being intruded on privacy, experience of invading someone's privacy, and punishment behavior. After analyzing 202survey data, we conclude that different factors affect these two types of privacy intrusion intention. However, no relationship was found between the two types of privacy intrusion intentions. One of the most interesting findings is that the experience of privacy intrusion is the most significant factor related to the two types of privacy intrusion intentions. The findings contribute to the literature on privacy by suggesting two types of privacy intrusion intentions on SNS and identifying their antecedents from the perspective of an intruder. Practitioners can also use the findings to develop SNS applications that can improve protection of user privacies and legitimize proper regulations relevant to online privacy.
