  • Most of the computer-based distance learning systems are asynchronous ones that allow students to download from the server the lecture previously given by a lecturer. While these asynchronous systems has the advantage that enable students to view the lecture with no time restriction, the study may not be effective due to the lack of support for real-time interaction between students and lecturers. Based on the student-lecturer-collaboration session model, this paper presents a collaboration session-centric synchronous distance learning system that supports real-time interaction between students and teachers, awareness information during lecture, and feedback from students. Basic feature of the proposed system include audio and video conferencing, text-based chat, and shared slide with annotation support.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine how the humans learn and perceive the weight of objects corresponding to visual information in virtual environment. We conducted two kinds of load-on-tasks with two virtual objects that have same weight but different visual cues; have same visual cues but changed weight by trails. We found that the subject could not generate appropriate force for the smaller and changed weight objects in the beginning of the trials. the discrepancy between the expected weight and actual force consequences sue to visually invoked size and previous experience made subjects perceive the small object were heavier. one the other hand, after the tasks were repeated, the subject responded the weights were the same or very similar when the mismatch between the expected weight and the actual weight became vanished. this means that the sensorimotor feedback influences the anticipatory control scheme and weight perception aggressively in virtual environment.

  • Augmented Reality(AR) assists human's cognitive ability through the information visualization by substantiating information about virtual situation. This technology is studied in a variety of ways including education, design, industry, and so on, by various supply of information devices equipped with cameras and display monitors. Since the most of the AR system depends on limited interaction that responds to the order from user, it can not reflect diverse real world situation. In this study, we suggest a knowledge based augmented reality system, which is composed of context awareness agent that provides recognized context information, along with knowledge based component that provides intelligent capability by utilizing domain knowledges. With this capability, the augmented object can generate dynamic model intelligently by reflecting context information, and can make the interaction possible among the multiple objects. We developed rule based context awareness system along with 3D model generation, and tested interaction among the augmented objects. And we suggest a framework that can provide a convenient way of developing augmented reality system for user.

  • In this study, by using the control technique of the user using augmented reality technology, to provide a game system touch-based. The augmented reality technology, can be advantageously used vehicle is easily recognized as a technique for synthesizing (images, video, text) object of the virtual image of the real world. Augmented reality technology has been studied to make the application in various fields. Studies of natural marker-based marker and base are underway, but there is no sense of incongruity in reality research natural marker-based and has been studied much. By using the augmented reality technology natural marker-based In this paper, we implemented a game system. The system also has the advantage that can be absorbed in the game by using the techniques of the interaction through a user's touch. Touch interface-based, are available as well as user environments, even in mobile devices such as smart-phone and touch pad.

  • To propose a contents model for children's smart watch, this study interview 15mothers who have a child using smart watches. Most mothers purchase smart watches for children to warrant their security and manage their schedules, and they use them for sending a call or text to their children, tracking or managing children's location and schedule. Mothers were satisfied with a smart watch's function of communication and safety management, but dissatisfied learning-oriented contents and worrried about bad influenced on children development. Through in-depth interviews, this study propose a persona model for children's smart watch for enhancing parent-child interaction and physical cognitive language socioemotional convergence play contents.

  • In this research, analysis based on VR journalism outlet the New York Times' was carried out. The image analysis of was done through the frames of angle, shot (size, length, movement), and limited user-directed interaction (point, sound). The result of this is as follows. Firstly, the direction was done using a basis of normal and low angles. Secondly, it was able to be confirmed that the shooting was done in order by medium, full, and long shot. Thirdly, with regard to the length of the shot, most direction was done through long takes. Fourthly, most images came to consist of fixed shots. Lastly, this is limited user-directed interaction. This may be separated into 2 aspects: sound, and movement of the independent free agent. Through these, interaction was guided through free point of view concerning realistic situations to point of view guidance and users. This research may be referred to as foundational research for the further advancement of in-depth discussion pertaining to VR journalism.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics that indicate scientifically gifted students by analyzing the verbal interactions in developmental biology inquiry-experimental classes. The subjects were 20 first-grade middle school students who were participating in SNU Science Gifted Education Center. In these experimental classes which were developed based on the CPS Model, we conducted a total of four experimental sessions of small group discussions, and the students' verbal interactions were both taped and video recorded, and observed. From the transcriptions, the patterns of question-answer and the characteristics of scientifically gifted students were analyzed. In the case of question-answer patterns, thinking questions appeared 3~6 times more frequently than the standard information questions. Especially, the case of experimental class I showed 40% more thinking questions as well as standard information questions that the other 3 classes. Through the results of analysing verbal interactions, we were able to find more detailed aspects to creativity that were not identifiable in paper-pencil examinations, as well as affective characteristics such as task commitment and leadership. We believe our findings upon inquiry will be of substantial significance in substituting for the paper-pencil examination in distinguishing and selecting scientifically gifted students.

  • This study aims to verify whether field-dependence and field-independence cognitive style have regulatory effect or not on information quality and system quality of digital textbooks in learning satisfaction. In order to accomplish the purpose, the research was carried out with 325 students of digital textbook research school who are fifth and sixth grade at a primary school living in Seoul metropolitan city. Results from the verification of hypotheses are as follows: when learning satisfaction of digital textbooks is affected by information quality and system quality influence satisfaction, it is given a positive moderating effect by the variables of field-dependence and field-independence cognitive style.

  • The off-screen space openness of the movies converted a unilateral communication, which films have made audiences understand with, into an interactive communication. When the spectators see a movie, the off-screen space will be able to take out their positivity and induce their deep thinking. They won't accept information of the screen by manual operation but will participate in the narrative stories of the cinemas, thinking about the reality. In the paper, it shows that the motion pictures, which Jean Renoir and Michelangelo Antonioni produced, consist of the expressive forms of the off-screen space as well as a human has the ability sense, feeling, perception and memory associated with interacting between the off-screen space and audiences.

  • One often thinks that those doing any activity on the Internet are likely to be addicted to it so that they tend to rather restrain the educational use of what the Internet can provide. However, the online edu-games deserve a good learning material which can not only provoke learners' interest but also draw out a smoother interaction between teachers and learners. Even the preliminary study on immersion verified that the Internet could work positively for the learners. Considering that online edu-games can be a useful tool for individual learning, more studies on immersion should be conducted focusing on the individualization in the future. This paper shows the differences among the components of learning immersion depending on the different individual cognitive styles in the online edu-games.
