An Exploratory Study on the Characteristics of a Solo Teacher Librarian's Personal Networks (1인 사서교사의 인적 네트워크 특성에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • Human networks can be an important means of solving various information problems including tacit knowledge, as an essential channel of knowledge sharing. Particularly, in the case of a teacher librarian(or librarian) of a school library composed of one person in the organization, the human networks for work can be more effective with people outside the organization who are in charge of the same duties than with members inside the organization. Thus, this study aims at exploring the characteristics of the personal networks related to the work of teacher librarians and understanding the effect of these network characteristics on job satisfaction and role ambiguity resolution. A survey was conducted on one of the teacher librarian associations in Seoul, and the collected data were analyzed using social network analysis(SNA) method. As a result, it was found that personal networking of teacher librarians is active in experienced teacher librarians, while those with shorter career have fewer channels of help-seeking. Also, the characteristics of personal networking do not affect job satisfaction and the resolution of role ambiguity. Based on these results, this study proposes the expansion of collaborating and networking among teacher librarians to solve information problems in a single-person workplace.

The effect of Women' social networking on affective commitment and individual adaptation performance (인적 네트워킹이 정서적 조직몰입과 개인적응성과에 미치는 영향: 여성 공무원을 대상으로)

  • The number of female government employees is increasing steadily; therefore, the importance of their effective management is also increasing. Recently, female government employees have organized and exploited their social networks to achieve career success. To obtain a better understanding of the consequences of social networking and its impact on female government employees, 262 female employees were asked to provide details about their experiences and attitudes regarding networking behavior (internal and external networking) and how they influenced affective commitment and individual adaptation performance. The results confirmed that social networking significantly increases emotional sharing, and leads to high levels of affective commitment and individual adaptation performance. The moderating roles that positive psychological capital play in the relationships between social networking (internal and external) and emotional sharing were also investigated. The results confirmed that positive psychological capital enhances the impact internal social networking has on affective commitment and individual adaptation performance. Managerial implications for developing effective female employee management strategies were provided for government managers. Based on these results, the theoretical and practical implications of the research findings are discussed, and recommendations for future research are provided.

Social Relationship Value Computation based on the Influence of Human Attributes classified by Topics (토픽별 인간 속성의 영향력 기반 소셜 관계 지수 산정)

  • 최근 검색엔진의 효율성을 향상시키고 검색결과에 있어서 사용자들의 요구사항을 충족시키기 위한 연구들이 활발히 수행되고 있으며, 많은 방법론들이 제시되고 있다. 이는 방대한 정보 속에서 사용자의 검색 의도에 맞는 정보를 효과적으로 제공하는 것을 그 목표로 한다. 특히 본 논문에서는 검색하고자 하는 토픽별 사용자의 인적 속성들이 미치는 영향력을 기반으로 사용자간 소셜 관계 지수(SRV : Social Relationship Value)를 산정하는 방법을 제안한다. 소셜 관계 지수란 인간의 내재적인 특성을 수치로 산정한 것으로, 웹 사용자들에게 있어서는 검색 성향의 유사정도와 직결된다. 따라서 검색하고자 하는 토픽별 개인 성향의 유사정도를 수치로 부여하고 유사성이 높은 사람들의 검색 정보를 이용하면 사용자에 보다 만족된 검색결과를 제공할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 구글 디렉터리(Google directory)의 정제된 각 토픽별 하위 범주(category)에 대해 선택 결과가 같은 사람들을 대상으로 인적 속성을 분석하고, 그 영향력을 가중치로 적용해 산정된 소셜 관계 지수와 사용자들의 검색 패턴을 비교 하였다. 그 결과 특정인을 기준으로 소셜 관계 지수가 높은 사람들의 검색 패턴이 매우 유사함을 확인 하였다. 이를 통해 토픽별 개인 간 연결 강도가 강할수록, 즉 유사성이 높은 사용자간에는 검색 패턴 또한 유사함을 검증 할 수 있었다.

A Study of Human Resource Practices Affecting Knowledge Sharing and Utilization in Public Organization (공공기관의 인적자원관리가 지식공유 및 지식활용에 미치는 영향)

  • Main drivers of knowledge activities such as knowledge sharing and utilization are individual members of an organization and thus knowledge management strategies should be discussed in relationships with human resource management. This study analyzes the effects on knowledge sharing and knowledge utilization of human resource management practices such as training, participation in decision-making, performance appraisal and compensation system in local government. The results show that training and performance appraisal and compensation system are significantly influential factors for the knowledge sharing and knowledge utilization. Lessons and implications of this study for management leadership are presented.

  • This study is of academic significance to investigate the relationship between person-job fit and job-based psychological ownership, which previous studies lacked, and further confirmed for the first time in Korea that job-based psychological ownership mediates the relationship between person-job fit and job performance. In addition, the study supports the expectation theory that competency suitability affects job performance and the social exchange theory that requirement suitability affects job performance.

Disparity of Human Capital across Regions: the Impact of Aging (인적자본의 지역간 불평등: 고령화의 영향)

  • This study presents the extent of disparity of human capital across regions, its trend, and the impact of aging on it, using Korean census data of years 1985, 1995, and 2005. Main results are as follows. First, the absolute level of human capital in cities and districts have increased, but the relative positions of those regions have not changed over time. Second, the proportion of college graduated tends to increase as the size of cities increases. Third, following Berry and Glaeser(2005), the increase in the proportion of college graduated is regressed on the initial proportion and the estimates indicate that the disparity of human capital across regions has increased over time. Fourth, the proportion of aging population is shown to have a negative relationship with the proportion of college graduated. Finally, using a counter-factual scenario that there were no differences in proportions of aging population across regions, it is shown that the disparity of human capital across regions could be reduced substantially.

Effects of Festival Sevicescape and Human Services to Emotional Response and Behavioral Intention (축제의 서비스스케프와 인적서비스가 감정반응과 행동의도에 미치는 영향 -강경발효젓갈축제 사례를 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this research is to find out how festival servicescape and human service impact the participant's emotional response and behavioral intention in terms of participants as consumers. The servicescape of festival indicated 4 common factors, named cleanliness, convenience, suitability and attravtiveness. As a result of analysis, it indicated that cleanliness and convenience from among the servicescape of festival variables are positively on positive emotion, negatively on negative emotion. And it was analyzed that all the variables of human service influence significantly on emotional response. Especially, it showed that expertise of human service variables influence on positive emotion the most, influence significantly on negative emotion. The result of relationship on behavioral intention indicated that the convenience factor of festival servicescape and expertise factor of human service influence significantly. Therefore, to operate successful festival, festival organizer should plan and manage the festival based on factors which comprises festival servicescape and human service.
