  • As a general rule, concrete has higher compression strength than bending and toughness. but Ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite has high toughness property owing to adding a large volume fiber. Therefore uniaxial tensile strength test is imperative to evaluate high toughness property of ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite in comparison with general concrete test. but in testing compression strength, Result is different by factor of thickness, shape and edge condition. Uniaxial tensile strength test is affected by fiber's length and section area because of cementitious composite property and factor of fiber arrangement. This study evaluates toughness property of ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite according to thickness and edge condition. The more thickness is thin, the more high performance by fiber arrangement

Characterization of In-plane Shear Behaviors of Woven Fabrics by Bias-extension and Trellis-frame Tests (편향 인장 및 트렐리스 시험에 의한 직물 복합재료의 면내 전단 물성 평가)

  • Three types of glass woven fabrics (plain, balanced twill, and unbalanced twill) having various sample sizes and aspect ratios were tested using the bias-extension tests. Real-time deformation images, force, and displacement data were collected. For the bias-extension test, the shear angle of the fabrics from the equation based on the crosshead displacement and fabric size was compared with direct manual measurements of the warp and weft angles as well as the optical measurement software. To determine the shear force, an analytical equation was introduced considering the kinematics of the bias-extension test. The obtained shear behaviors were further compared with the results by the trellis-frame test. The optical measurement methods showed that the mathematical method was reasonable before the shear angle of the fabrics reaches $30^{\circ}$ in the bias-extension tests. Also, the bias-extension test gave consistent behaviors with the trellis-frame test only for isotropic and homogeneous fabrics such as balanced plain and twill weaves.

Estimation Model of Shear Transfer Strength for Uncracked Pull-Off Test Specimens based on Compression Field Theory (비균열 인장재하 시험체의 압축장 이론에 기반한 전단전달강도 산정모델)

  • Two different types of shear-friction tests were classified by external loadings and referred to as a push-off and a pull-off test. In a pull-off test, a tension force is applied in the transverse direction of the test specimen to produce a shear stress at the shear plane. This paper presents a method to evaluate shear transfer strengths of uncracked pull-off specimens. The method is based on the compression field theory and different constitutive laws are applied in some ways to gain accurate shear strengths considering softening effects of concrete struts based on Modified Compression Field Theory (MCFT) and Softened Truss Model (STM). The validity of the proposed method is examined by applying to some selected test specimens in literatures and results are compared with the predicted values. A general agreement is observed between predicted and measured values at ultimate loading stages in initially uncracked pull-off test specimens. A shear strength evaluation formula considering the effective compressive strength of a concrete strut was proposed, and the applicability of the proposed formula was verified by comparing with the experimental results in the literature.

  • The damage analysis method in this paper needs a material property and failure criteria. The material properties and the failure criteria could be easily obtained from the results of notched bar tensile tests carried out on other materials studied previously. However, for the cast stainless steel (CF8M) material in this paper, because of the variance in the results from notched bar tensile tests under the same conditions, the material property and the failure criteria could be obtained differently, depending on the analyzer. Therefore, a proper procedure that can confirm the material property and failure criteria are needed. In this work, the averaged material property was obtained from the notched bar with a 16-mm notch radius, and three failure criteria for CF8M material by finite element analysis were obtained. Applying the material property and the failure criteria, FE damage analysis for the J-R fracture toughness test was conducted. For validation, the simulated results were compared with the experimental results.

A Study on Microfailure Mechanism of Single-Fiber Composites using Tensile/Compressive Broutman Fragmentation Techniques and Acoustic Emission (인장/압축 Broutman Fragmentation시험법과 음향방출을 이용한 단섬유 복합재료의 미세파괴 메커니즘의 연구)

  • Interfacial and microfailure properties of carbon fiber/epoxy matrix composites were evaluated using both tensile fragmentation and compressive Broutman tests with an aid of acoustic emission (AE) monitoring. A polymeric maleic anhydride coupling agent and a monomeric amino-silane coupling agent were used via the electrodeposition (ED) and the dipping applications, respectively. Both coupling agents exhibited significant improvements in interfacial shear strength (IFSS) compared to the untreated case under tensile and compressive tests. The typical microfailure modes including fiber break of cone-shape, matrix cracking, and partial interlayer failure were observed during tensile test, whereas the diagonal slippage in fiber ends was observed under compressive test. For both loading types, fiber breaks occurred around just before and after yielding point. In both the untreated and treated cases AE amplitudes were separately distributed for the tensile testing, whereas they were closely distributed for the compressive tests. It is because of the difference in failure energies of carbon fiber between tensile and compressive loading. The maximum AE voltage for the waveform of carbon or basalt fiber breakages under tensile tests exhibited much larger than those under compressive tests, which can provide the difference in the failure energy of the individual failure processes.

Flexural Behavior of Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic Pipes (유리섬유 강화 플라스틱관의 휨거동에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 유리섬유의 적층수, 유리섬유의 배향각도에 대한 유리섬유 강화 플라스틱(Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics ; GFRP)의 인장거동 변화를 고찰하고, 이들의 상관관계를 규명하기 위하여 일련의 GFRP 시험체에 대하여 인장실험을 수행하였다. 시험체는 폭12.5mm, 길이 60mm크기로 일정하게 제작하였으며, 시험체에 대하여 인장실험을 수행하였다. 시험체 제작시 유리섬유로 적층수는 14, 22, 30층, 유리섬유의 배향각도는 0$^{\circ}$, 30$^{\circ}$, 45$^{\circ}$로 하였다. 인장실험시 각 시험체의 파괴양상, 극한하중 및 하중변화에 대한 인장변형율을 조사하였고, 이들 결과를 토대로 유리섬유의 적층수와 배향각도에 따른 GFRP의 극한하중, 응력-변형율 선도 및 탄성계수 등을 비교 분석하였다. 한편 본 논문에서는 유리섬유의 적층수, 직경 변화에 따른 GFRP관의 파괴거동을 고찰하기 위하여 4점 재하법에 의한 GFRP관의 휨파괴실험을 수행하였다. 실험에 사용된 시험체는 길이 1200mm로 하였으며, 유리섬유의 적층수를 30, 35, 40층, 관의 직경을 50, 100, 150mm로 하였다. 파괴실험시 각 시험체의 하중변화에 대한 휨 변형율, 중앙점 처짐량 및 항복하중을 측정하였고, 이들 결과를 토대로 유리섬유으 적층수와 관의 직경에 따라 GFRP관의 항복하중 및 파괴에너지를 비교 분석 하였으며, 항복시 파괴에너지를 추정할 수 있는 제안식을 유도하였다.

Tensile Characteristics of A12024-T3 under Rapid Heating (급속가열환경에서 A12024-T3의 인장특성)

  • The thermomechanical tensile characteristics were evaluated for A12024-T3 under heating rates from $1^{\circ}C/sec\;to\;30^{\circ}C/sec$ by using an infrared heating equipment to simulate aerodynamic heating. The rapid heating test results were compared with tensile test results after 1/2 hour exposure in terms of yield stress to investigate the influence of heating condition. A heating rate-yield temperature parameter was suggested for rapid heating based on time-temperature parameters, and master yield stress curve was obtained by using these parameter. These test results can be used for margin of safety of supersonic vehicle structures subjected to aerodynamic heating.

자동차용 강판의 온도에 따른 기계적 특성

  • 겨울철 혹한지방에서의 차량운행 또는 여름철 혹서지방에서의 장시간 차량 운행시 차체를 구성하고 있는 강판에는 약 $-50^{\circ}C{\sim}150^{\circ}C$의 온도환경에 처하게 된다. 따라서 이러한 저온 고온 환경하에서 차체 충돌상품성 예측 및 충돌안전 설계를 위해 온도에 따른 차체 강판의 기계적 물성평가가 요구된다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 자동차용 충돌부재에 주로 쓰이는 HS440MPa, HS590MPa급 냉연 고장력 강판에 대해 $-60^{\circ}C{\sim}200^{\circ}C$의 온도범위로 저온 고온 인장시험을 수행 하였다. 각각의 인장시험 결과로부터 온도 별 항복강도, 인장강도, 연신율, 가공경화지수 등 기계적 물성 변화를 평가하였다. 저온 고온 인장시험은 ZWICK Z250 만능재료시험기를 사용하였고 KS5호 규격의 인장시편을 사용하였으며, 시편에 충분한 온도를 가하기 위하여 목표온도 도달 후 20분간 유지한 뒤 인장시험을 수행하였다. 인장시험결과 HS440MPa, HS590MPa급 두 강종 모두 온도가 낮아질수록 강도 및 연신율 등이 증가하였고, 온도가 증가할수록 강도 및 연신율 등 기계적 물성이 저하 되었다. 즉, 우리가 주로 평가해왔던 상온($25^{\circ}C$)에 비해 저온 고온 환경하에서는 강판의 기계적 물성 변화가 큰 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 혹한 또는 혹서 지방 등 온도차이가 큰 운행환경하에서의 차체 강도 및 충돌안전성 확보를 위해 온도에 따른 강판의 정확한 물성평가가 필요하고 차체 설계시 온도에 따른 강도변화를 충분히 고려하여야 한다.

Formability Evaluation of a Copper Alloy for Regenerative Cooling Thrust Chamber (재생냉각 연소기 챔버 제작용 구리합금의 성형성 평가)

  • The dome stretching tests and tension tests have been performed to obtain a forming limit curve(FLC) for the copper alloy which is used for manufacturing the regenerative cooling thrust chamber. For experimental investigation of the forming limit curve, we have used in-plane tension specimen to obtain tension-compression strain state as well as out-of-plane specimen to obtain tension-tension strain state through dome stretching test. All specimens were divided into longitudinal and transverse directions according to the orientation of test specimen. The test results showed that in the tension-tension region, copper alloy revealed a maximum major strain of 62.3% and a maximum minor strain of 58.6%. In the tension-compression region, the maximum major strain and the maximum minor strain were measured to be 60.5% and 25.8%, respectively.
