  • This study provides an approach to perform the double mediation analysis in structural equation models using the R. For this purpose, the study reviews a variety of techniques for mediation analysis, selects the bootstrapping technique as the most suitable way for performing the double mediation analysis and develops an approach for the double mediation analysis in structural equating models with the bootstrapping using the plspm which is the R package for the performing PLS path analysis. This study will be useful for the studies including the double mediation analysis in structural equation modeling, which is not supported by most of SEM packages, also will provide the knowledge base for in-depth analysis through suggesting the new mediation analysis technique using R for the researchers.

  • This study examined the effect of past acceptance on suicidal ideation in older adults and verified double mediation effects of attitude to aging and depression. The responses of 329 aged 65 years or older who participate in senior welfare centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do were used. As an analysis method, the double mediation effect was confirmed through serial multiple mediation model verification using the SPSS PROCESS macro program. The followings are the results of the study. First, the past acceptance had a significant effect on the aging attitude, the aging attitude on the depression, and the depression on the suicidal ideation, but the direct effect of past acceptance on the suicidal ideation was not significant. Second, double mediation effects of attitude to aging and depression were significant in the relationship between past acceptance and suicidal ideation. Based on these results, practical and policy interventions to prevent suicide in old age were suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the causal relationship between positive emotions, positive psychological capital, and organizational identification, and to examine the double mediating effect. In this study, 369 social workers in 10 social welfare facilities in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were sampled. The results of this study show that compassion experienced by the social workers has a positive effect on positive emotion and organizational identification, and positive psychological capital has a significant effect on the organization identification. In addition, double mediating effect of positive emotion and positive psychological capital were also shown to be significant in the relationship between compassion and organizational identification. Therefore, this study has the theoretical implication that double mediating effect of positive emotion and positive psychological capital are demonstrated in the relationship between compassion and organization identification. In future research, sample collection should be done for the generalization of the sample, and the mediating effect of positive organizational identity should also be performed.

Research design, data and methodology : The subjects of this study were office workers working in four cities: Seoul, Daejeon, Chungnam, and Chungbuk Province, and the total number of respondents was 286. Descriptive statistics, difference test (t-test, ANOVA), correlation analysis, and double-mediated effect analysis were used for statistics. Results : The results of this study are as follows. First, as a result of the difference analysis, there was no difference in depression according to the general characteristics of the subjects of this study, such as gender, age, marital status, and salary. The participants were 310 adults living in the Seoul/Gyeonggi Province. For data collection, an online survey was conducted using a semi-structured questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using PROCESS Macro (Model 6) to validate the dual mediating effects. This study analyzed the direct effects of COVID-19 fears on the mental health problems, sleep problems and preventive practices. Both mental health and sleep problems had dual mediating effects in the influence of COVID-19 fears on preventive practices.
