  • The purpose of this study was to analyze records of Korean pro-basketball using general linear model (two-way ANOVA and hierarchical multiple regression analysis). Korea Basketball League (KBL) informed the records (2014-2015 season) of this study. The eight variables (TA, 2PA, 3PA, 2P, 3P, Ast, TFB, CH) were selected in content validity. SPSS program was used to analyze general linear model. All alpha level was set at 0.05. Major results were as follow. 3PA had significant interaction effect between victory & defeat variable and home & away variable. Victory teams showed that 3PA was higher in home games than away games, and defeat teams was the other. 2PA, AS, TFB, and CH were selected significant variables affecting victory and defeat. In result of hierarchical regression, Ast had significant moderation effect between 3PA and TS. TFB also had significant moderation effect between AS between 2P. The other construct (Ast between 2PA and TS; TFB between AS between 3P) had no significant moderation effect. In the effect of 2PA, 3PA and Ast to TS, CH also had no significant moderation effect.

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the school readiness between children in low-income families and children in non-low-income families. In particular, it examined the influence of family's income levels child's age and gender upon children's school readiness. The subjects were 184 children that were 4~5 years. The collected data were analysed using t-tests, one-way ANOVA, two-way ANOVA, and Scheffe test. The results showed that the school readiness of children from non-low-income families's was higher than children from low-income families. The school readiness was explained significantly by the interaction effect of children's age and gender. However, there was no difference in children's school readiness according to the participation in Dream Start. The findings suggest that the level of income is the key factor in differences of children's school readiness. Finally, the importance of social support of low-income children and development of effective Dream Start programs was discussed.

  • This study selected 83 manufacturing firms that had been delisted from the KOSDAQ market from 2009 to 2012 and the sample firms for the two-paired sampling method were compared with 83 normal firms running businesses with same items or in same industry. The 75 financial ratios for five years immediately before delisting were used for Mean Difference Analysis with those of normal firms. Fifteen variables assumed to be significant variables for five consecutive years out of the analysis were used to in the Dichotomous Classification Technique, Logistic Regression Analysis and Discriminant Analysis. As a result of those three analyses, the Logistic Regression Analysis model was found to show the greatest discrimination. This study is differentiated from previous studies as it assumed that the firm's failure proceeded slowly over long period of time and it tried to predict the firm's failure earlier using the five years' historical data immediately before failure, whereas previous studies predicted it using three years' data only. This study is also differentiated from the proceeding comparative studies by its statistically complex Multi-Variate Analysis and Dichotomous Classification Analysis, which general stakeholders can easily approach.

  • The present study aims to find out the necessary speech sound level which can satisfy with the speech intelligibility in a noisy classroom environments. For this, auralized materials were made to undertake listening tests with 27 people. Speech intelligibility tests were carried out using both Consonant-Vowel-Consonant (CVC) and Phonetically Balanced Words (PBW) methods. Signal to noise ratio was changed by 5 dB for each test. As a result, it was found that speech intelligibilities are increasing with larger Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). It was also found that there is a lot of difference of speech intelligibilities by SNR for syllables (CVC) with the Reverberation Time (RT) of 1.5 s. However, any significant difference was not found for words (PBW) in the case with RTs of below 0.8 s. Also, it was revealed through the 2-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test that SNR is the only attentive factor which can affect the Korean speech intelligibilities for both PBW and CVC methods. Therefore, RTs below 0.8 s could be the acoustic criteria for classroom which can minimize the effects of noise. In the case with RTs larger than 0.8 s, much larger SNR is needed to give sufficient speech intelligibility.

  • In this paper, we developed an augmented reality learning tool suitable for chemical bond learning and proposed a process-oriented guided inquiry learning using mobile augmented reality (POGIL-MAR) to find out how it affects science achievement, science learning motivation and learning flow. Participants were 139 10th-grade students from a coeducational high school in Gyeonggi-do, and they were randomly assigned to the control group (TL), the treatment group 1 (POGIL), and the treatment group 2 (POGIL-MAR). They learned the concept of the chemical bond from the Integrated Science subject for four class periods. Results of two-way ANCOVA revealed that the POGIL-MAR group scored significantly higher than the other groups in a science achievement test, science learning motivation test, and learning flow test, regardless of their prior science achievement. In addition, in the case of the low-level group, the POGIL-MAR group showed a statistically significant improvement in achievement compared to the TL and POGIL groups. The MANCOVA analysis for sub-factors of science learning motivation show that the POGIL-MAR group had significantly higher scores in intrinsic motivation, career motivation, self-determination, self-efficacy, and grade motivation. In particular, the interaction effect between the teaching and learning method and the level of prior achievement was significant in the intrinsic motivation. Meanwhile, the MANCOVA analysis for sub-factors of learning flow show that the POGIL-MAR group had significantly higher scores in clear goals, unambiguous feedback, action-awareness merging, sense of control, and autotelic experience. Based on the results, educational implications for effective teaching and learning strategy using mobile augmented reality are discussed.

  • Among the discussions on affective representation, the first is to explain the affective representation in the dimensions, and the second is to explain the affective representation according to the modality. In previous studies, to explain affective representation, valence models (signed valence, unsigned valence) and Modality-generality models (modality-general, modality-specific) were presented. In this study, we compared models presented in the previous study using the recently published ASMR to confirm which models explain affective representation well. The data used in this study were behavioral rating values collected by Kim & Kim (2022), and these were obtained for ASMR stimuli that were divided into three affective types (negative, neutral, and positive) and two modalities (auditory and audiovisual). Then, a multidimensional scaling, a representational similarity analysis with a two-way repeated measures ANOVA, and a multiple regression analysis with a two-way repeated measures ANOVA were performed. The results revealed that signed valence and modality-general distinguished between affective types of stimuli better than unsigned valence and modality-specific. Similar to the results of multidimensional scaling, the results of a representational similarity analysis and a multiple regression also showed that the signed valence and modality-general significantly explained affective representation better than the unsigned valence and the modality-specific. These results suggest that the model in which positive and negative are located at the opposite ends of the one dimension explains the affective representation of ASMR well, and that the affective representation was consistent regardless of modality.

  • This study aims to look for care quality factors reduce the daily stress of young children placed in care centers for long hours. Therefore, the research questions look into how the hours and care quality factors in child care centers affect young children's daily stress, and whether the care quality factor moderates the impact of the hours children spent in centers. The subjects in this study were 380 children from 3 to 5 years old from 10 child care centers. The Korean Preschool Daily Stress Scale(KPDSS) for children's daily stress and Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale-Revised(ECERS-R) for quality of each classroom of centers were implemented. The main findings were summarized as following: (1) The more hours he/she spent in the center, the more stress he/she had. Children who spent 9 hours or more had more stress than children with 7 hours or less. (2) Among the 7 quality factors including space and furnishings, personal care routines, language reasoning, activities, interaction, program structure, parents staff, the interaction level between a teacher and a child and the level of parents and staff had the most impact on children's daily stress. (3) The qualitative factors of child care, language reasoning level, interaction level, parental support, and level of teachers reduced children's daily stress which was affected by the hours they spent in centers. Thus in order to reduce the daily stress of children who attend more than 9 hours a day, it is crucial to promote language reasoning activities and interaction between teachers and children and to improve parental support and teachers' professionalism.
