An Analysis of Library Culture Program Management based on Users' Participation Logs: A Case Study of National Library of Korea, Sejong (이용자 참여 로그 기반 도서관 문화프로그램 운영현황 분석: 국립세종도서관 사례를 통해)

  • This study aims to analyze library culture-program management and propose methods for improving the program management. To achieve this research goal, this study examines current state of culture-program management and user's participation by analyzing users' participation logs of the National Library of Korea, Sejong. The users' participation logs have been accumulated from May, 2015, to December, 2017, and the logs contain 722 program data, 24,816 program participation data, and 6,729 users data. The data were used for analyzing of program management, users' characteristics, and changes based on timelines. Based on the analysis results, culture-program management problems were pointed out and future improvement methods for solving the problems were proposed. This study analyzes culture-program management in view of users using real users' participation logs, and it has significance for being different from preceding researches focusing on culture-program providers.

User Participation Evaluation of A Scholarly Information Site (학술정보사이트의 이용자 참여형 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a methodology of user participation evaluation of a scholarly information site in the field of science and technology and to enhance the site by applying a set of testing protocols. Experiments were conducted in a laboratory setting. Data from multiple sources, including eyetracking, search logs and post surveys, were collected and analyzed quantitatively. Based on the results of eyetracking, the contents and images were reorganized after removing unessential elements in the site. The resulting data from the search logs showed that the users were able to finish the tasks more quickly with the revised user interface. The results of the data analysis of post surveys indicated an overall improvement in the revised website compared to the original one.

  • In this paper, for the evaluation of the ease of a particular Web site (www.appbelt.net), insert the log tracking code for Google Analytics in a page of the Web site to collect behavioral data of visitor and has studied the improvement measures for the problems of the Web site, after the evaluation of the overall quality of the Web site through the evaluation of Coolcheck. These findings set the target value of the company's priority (importance) companies want to influence the direction of the business judgment are set up correctly, and the user's needs and behavior will be appropriate for the service seems to help improvement.

Government as a Platform Revitalization Strategy Derived from Webtoon Platform Success Factors (웹툰플랫폼 성공요인에서 도출한 플랫폼 정부 활성화 방안)

  • This study postulates that Government as a Platform(GaaP) could be a next generation government model, drawing activation strategy from success factors of webtoon platform by NAVER. It suggests success factors of Naver webtoon case based on three main components of platform strategy. First, in the aspect of platform infrastructure, Naver webtoon was established based on powerful portal site by parent company Naver and improved platform accessibility through using webtoon without login. Second, in the aspect of stakeholder engagement, Naver webtoon has offed webtoon at no cost and it has taken an intermediary role for supporting the stakeholders with PPS. Third, in the aspect of outputs production, Naver webtoon offered real time feedback from webtoon users that could affect webtoon production and established incubating system that allow users to create their webtoon. And due to PPS, it makes possible to various create second outputs based on webtoon, which can contribute to activating webtoon ecosystem.

  • This study aims to analyze circulation status of children's material and participation in culture program based on the bigdata to identify the current status of children and youth services and suggest ways to improve the services. The logs to be analyzed consist of children's material information, circulation count information, circulation user information registered at the National Library of Korea, Sejong. The children's material information logs contain 77,297 data, circulation count information logs contain 4,160,484 data, circulation user information logs contain 189,060 data The current status analysis of children and youth services was conducted in various ways, including analysis of circulation status and culture program by subject, age, and residential area. Based on analysis results, improvement methods of children and youth services were proposed in terms of books, users and residences. This study analyze empirically current status of children and youth services based on bigdata logs, and it has significance for being different form proceeding researches. We expect this study to be used as an empirical basis for the establishment of operational strategies in the future.

  • This paper describes design and implementation of a general purpose cyber educational system. In this system, there are different types of menus and services according to such user's rights as system operators, professors, assistant instructors, students. In order to keep in close contact between students and professors, provided are various services such as the official announcement, transcripts of lecture, bulletin board, Q/A corner, report box, archive of study materials, electronic mail box, memorandum including checking of one's attendance and school record. For the purpose of activating small group studies and discussion about given subject, it can organize into groups automatically and provide with debating rooms. The system is implemented by separating with both HTML design and programming part by templete concept. Overload of iterative server is solved by adjusting the numbers of DB servers of each service.

  • The web 2.0 concept rapidly spreads to the various field which is based on an opening, the participation, and a share. And the research about the recommendation system, that is the personalize feature, and social network is very active. In the case of the recommendation system and social network, it had been developing in the respectively different area and the new research toward the service model of a form that it fuses these is insignificant. In this paper, I'm going to introduce efficient social network which is called the researcher connection network. It is possible to recommend the researcher intellectually who studies the similar field by analyzing the usage log and user profile. Through this study, we could solved the network expandability problem which is due to the user passive participation and the difficulty of the initial network construction that is the conventional social network problem.

An Study of Operational Strategy for Special Libraries on Social Network Service (SNS) (전문도서관의 소셜네트워크서비스 운영방안 연구 - 해양과학도서관 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This study proposes a customized SNS operational strategy for special libraries based on a case study on the Ocean Science Library (OSL) of South Korea. The study conducted an in-depth analysis on an organizational structure, manpower, contents, and promotion. The outcome of SNS operational strategy deducted from this study can be categorized into several items, including: (1) a selection of an appropriate SNS channel, which meets the objective of the operation; (2) a formal division of works for SNS operation; (3) a designation of full-time managers and an establishment of a task force team; (4) a specialization of contents according to specific subjects; (5) on/off-line promotions focused on events, which encourage participations; (6) an improvement of contents through regular log analyses; and (7) a promotion of library website access through SNS, and so on. This research also suggested the strategies for the development of SNS operation: strengthening of communication and cooperation among librarians; distribution of academic and research outcomes of the umbrella organization; enhancement of a role as a communication channel between librarians and users, and carry out a role as a 'social curator.'
