  • The aim of this study is 1) to analyse the historical development and current condition of the subject based classification(SBC), 2) to clarify the function and to categorize the specific kind of SBC, for its conceptualization and the development plan. For this purpose, almost 30 cases, for the period 1937 through now, were analyzed concerning their terms used in the names and the specific kinds as SBC. In addition, the analysis was made regarding how the SBC fulfill the selected main functions as a classificatory scheme and how SBC is inter-related with the other knowledge organization systems(KOS) such as classification and subject heading. Based on the above analysis, the conclusion addressed that SBC could be defined in consideration of the detailed function, type, information environment, and interconnection among the KOS, and suggested the future development plan of SBC as a classification scheme.

  • This paper describes the process and methodology followed in developing the Android-based LG Sangnam Audiobook service and an evaluation of its usefulness to the public. The methods included a survey of user needs, analysis of usage statistics, and user interviews. The study found that visually impaired users: 1) were greatly interested and willing to use smartphones if there were no barrier in cost and access; 2) preferred downloads to streaming services; 3) did not mind performance differences between real and TTS (text-to-speech) voices; 4) showed marked differences in book preferences according to age, 5) made about 14,000 downloads in 2014; and 6) indicated bookmarking and moving between pages and tables of content as the most important functions in using audiobooks.

  • This paper considers network competition where the subscribers experience network congestion when they use the network and the network providers determine the network price and capacity. This paper discusses the impact of the network competition on social welfare. Network provider determines the price and capacity considering this characteristics of this sensitivity to network congestion where the subscriber has different preference about the congestion. This paper shows that network provider who wants to serve the intolerable customers (who is very sensitive to the congestion) offers higher price and capacity. However, this provider prepares lower capacity than socially optimal capacity. This is because the network provider seeks to earn more profits from additional subscriber while it is desirable to invest the capacity to give the entire subscribers a non-congestion network in the view of social welfare.

  • Systematic studies have been rarely conducted on the acceptance of big data technology despite the technology drawing much attention from academia, industry and general public. With big data technology still being in the infant stage in Korea, a study model was constructed in this paper by integrating the innovation diffusion theory and the task technology fit theory with this technology acceptance model (TAM) as the central framework to make big data technology more readily acceptable in the country, and the aim of making big data technology readily acceptable was expanded as the moderator variable of the TAM. The results of this study showed that "subjective norm" and "task technology fit" showed the most significant effect as the exogenous variables of the TAM. In addition, the "innovative characteristic of the organization" was the significant exogenous variable affecting the intention to accept big data technology to those "technology utilizers" that try to come up with new services or products that are technology-based; however, "subjective norm" was the rather significant factor affecting those simple "technology users". Finally, a significant difference was seen in the verification of mediation effect.

  • Interest in the development of urban trails is growing in South Korea. River front trails have been developed in Seoul, Daegu and other major cities. Such trails, and the corridors in which they are developed, often provide a myriad of benefits to the community, including open space, exercise, and stress release. This trend mirrors development patterns found in the United States and European nations. This study examined differences in trail users perceptions of trail attributes, activity participation, willingness to pay for trail access, and perceptions of trail benefits between trail users in the United States and those in South Korea. Perceptions of trail users at three trail sites in the metropolitan area of Daegu were examined, and then were compared to results reported in several studies conducted in the U. S. While this research was exploratory, it did uncover many interesting differences in perceptions of trail attributes between trail users in the two countries. This information may provide insight into the development of greenway systems in South Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to compose direction about mUC as a communication channel in the company. Recently, many companies have started to adopt or try to vitalize the use of mUC. This study starts from the viewpoint of communication which is the original purpose of SNS or mUC. The purpose and function of life-world are drawn based on Habermas' theory of communicative action. Firstly, this study will check on a difference in usage over the action and articulation between SNS and mUC. Secondly, this study will examine a difference of effect of life-world between SNS and mUC. Thirdly, to check that there is difference according to the user characteristics. The result is that there are differences about action and articulation but little differences of effect to the life-world between SNS and mUC. Also, there is difference according to the user characteristics. This study could contribute to compose direction when a company adopts or vitalizes mUC.

  • This study This study aims to identify sound developmental directions for transit-oriented development (TOD), which is a topic of interest in the field of urban development, and conducts an empirical analysis of station influence areas within Seoul according to the characteristics of transit types. The results suggest that there are differences among variables that influence demand for public transportation according to transit types. This means that it is necessary to identify improvement plans in developing public transport strategies for the capital region based on such differentiated influence factors and to build foundations to continue to increase demand for public transportation. Also, station influence areas should be developed into hubs by establishing appropriate bus-only lane networks as a supplementary means, rather than directly connecting subway stations with each other.

  • With increasing interest in content marketing, SNS (social networking services) has become more popular as a method of library marketing, both at home and abroad. Accordingly, this study analyzed the operational status and problems of library SNS marketing, in an attempt to find ways to optimize its use. Results show that librarians' opinions of library marketing and library SNS marketing were very high, but the problems they faced included a lack of human resources dedicated to marketing, lack of marketing education, a lack of content to upload each week, and low numbers of contacts on social networking sites. To further develop and optimize library SNS marketing, five solutions were suggested based on the survey results: first, composing an intensive managing team for effective SNS operation; second, providing different levels of marketing training to decrease the librarians' mistakes; third, updating data continuously; fourth, providing information and services users need; and lastly, clearly identifying each channel's active operation goals.
