Various urban transport policies have an effect on urban transit riderships and accessibility. This study reports variations of metropolitan subway travel patterns affected by an enormous change in bus routes and transfer discount fare policy between subway and bus mode conducted by Seoul city in July 1st of 2004. In an effort to see the difference between the before and the after policies, two data sets are prepared. Firstly, on a daily bassis. an origin-destination trip table of May of 2004 is used. Secondly, on a daily bassis, an origin-destination trip table of August-September of 2004 is used as a counter measure. Even if seasonal variation was not considered, Seoul metropolitan area have experienced increasing riderships and accessibility. Finally, the effects of accessibility in spatial interaction model by rall service changes such as random shocks were scrutinized and interpreted in detail.

Many public libraries have restricted or forbidden most food and drink on the basis of a number of reasons, and it is necessary to demonstrate that it is legitimate or unfair. To this purpose, the researchers surveyed 485 public library users residing in Daegu City on the perception of food and drink policy. Based on survey results, the researcher suggested improvement directions from various perspectives. First, public library should proactive review the restriction policy in terms of social paradigm. Second, allowing food and drink is a strategy and a right way to justify the existing value and social role of public libraries and strengthen the ecosystem in terms of guaranteeing basic rights of users. Third, it is desirable to emphasize the pure function rather than the dysfunction due to food and drink allowance in terms of facilitating the collection and space use. Fourth, the totalitarian thinking that restrict all or most food and drink in the bylaws or library regulations should be avoided. Finally, public library should allow all food and drink, but it is necessary to prescribe a kind of the food which can be consumed by space, and actively promote to the user.

Until now, there have been various kinds of science information databsae which databased the science technology information, but they do not satisfy the aspiration of the users. Therefore, in the position of the users, it suggests the technology information space as a now paradigm, which supplement the function of science information DB. ICPIS which inputs described papers with keywords, offers the itemized summary of these contents, the visual indication and comparison of similar thesis, and it also supplises the abundant summary information, survey information, more than ten volumes of info communication thesis with starting the casual relation extraction for the users, playing a significant role in ICPIS is called KP, and it is package of domain knowledge that unifies the extraction and structure narration of the technology information. ICPIS extracts the technology information among the thesis that are deserved by the natural language treatment in the itemized KP keywords described, and form the prescribed summary structure in KP.

This study deals with the role and responsibility of university library in multicultural society. For this purpose, centered the Chinese students in Pusan University, with internet questionnaire surveys on customer satisfaction to the current library portal service and set up a effective digital library evaluation model. In the meanwhile we borrowed evaluation methods and items from LibQUAL+ in part, a world wide famous model, and use Tsinghua University Library's evaluation statistic norms. To summarize the results of this survey, Chinese student's service satisfaction about Pusan University library is still fairly low. Undergraduate and graduate students(including doctor courses) group follows, undergraduates student's satisfaction level is lower than graduate. By analyzing simple satisfaction we can know that library portal service maintained low importance or influence to the user, to internet space user's satisfaction is a relatively high level. And compared with other dimension, statistic data show out that internet space user's satisfaction still maintained a relative high level.

Environmental sculptures not only play a part as various cultural facilities but also symbolize local unique culture beyond the limit of functional role. Therefore subway environmental sculptures not only should be approached in terms of public installations and beauty but also should be designed to meet the needs of subway users appropriately. In order to find out what subway users think about environment sculptures installed in subway stations, the factors that can evaluate awareness and preference for environment sculptures and visual image of environment sculptures were examined and analyzed. Positive elements have been shown with regard to environment sculptures but it was judged that visual quality of subway environment can be improved more if environment sculptures keep in harmony with the characteristics of stations.

There is a demand for a complex cultural space of play, leisure and education, a kids cafe, which will replace a playground just for kids as awareness for the need of a space where parents can spend leisure time with their own children and can take a rest grows, Thus, this study aims to find features for user satisfying kids cafes by conducting observations of the kids cafes and user survey. This study selected 12 kids cafes, 3 kids cafes per type (play focused, cafe or restaurant focused, education focused, multipurpose focused), in Seoul which were built after 2007 and conducted surveys on space planning and spatial characteristics by users and types and the level of satisfaction. As a result, the play focused kids cafes are used the most and the multipurpose focused kids cafes are used the second most. So the reason for using kids cafes is for the play of children. Also the overall satisfaction level for kid cafes were above the average except for the price. The result of this study showed that there was differences of satisfaction based on the type of user satisfaction, size of children space, finishes, colors, furniture and accessories, sanitary conditions. For the overall satisfaction, users were satisfied with the interior space, however, users were unsatisfied with functional parts, such as toys, foods and educational program. The results of the analysis showed that based on the types of the kids cafes, users' satisfaction rate for space size for the children, finishes, colors, furniture and accessories, sanitary conditions were different and for the functional parts, the satisfaction rate was different in all aspects. Also, in overall, the educational focused type users showed higher satisfaction rate than other users. Finally, the level of satisfaction is different by type of kids cafes and we have to consider the level of satisfaction of the users in order to plan kids cafes which meet the demand of the users.

This paper proposes distributed file placement and coverage expansion techniques for mitigating the traffic bottleneck in backhaul for small-cell networks. In order to minimize the backhaul load with limited memory space, the proposed scheme controls the coverage and file placement of base station according to file popularity distribution and memory space of base stations. In other words, since the cache hit ratio is low when there is small memory capacity or widespread file popularity distribution, the base stations expand its coverage and cache different set of files for the user located in overlapped area to exploit multiple cached file sets of base stations. Our simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional cache strategy in terms of network throughput when there is small memory capacity or widespread file popularity distribution.

Flooding usually brings in disruptions and aggravated congestions to the roadway network. Hence, right information should be provided to road users to avoid the flood-impacted areas and for city officials to recover the network. However, the information about individual link congestion may not be conveyed to roadway users and city officials because too many links are congested at the same time. Therefore, more significant information may be desired, especially in a disastrous situation. This information may include 1) which places to avoid during flooding 2) which places are feasible to drive avoiding flooding. Hence, this paper aims to develop a framework to identify the flood-impacted areas in a roadway network and their criticality. Various impacted clusters and their spatiotemporal properties were identified with field data. From this data, roadway users can reroute their trips, and city officials can take the right actions to recover the affected areas. The information resulting from the developed framework would be significant enough for roadway users and city officials to cope with flooding.

The Purpose of this study was to discover the factors which motivate academic library users to use chat reference service and which demotivate academic library users to use chat reference service. To achieve the study purposes, this study conducted interview with the selected participants (Information Studies graduate students at Florida State University(FSU)) through email in April and May 2007. This study found that 1) convenience, 2) anonymity, and 3) inexpensiveness of the service served as incentives(motivators) for chat reference service consumers to use the service. On the other hand, chat reference service consumers mentioned the following factors as obstacles (demotivators) for using the service: 1) waiting time, 2) accessibility, 3) interface design, and 4) difficulties with expressing themselves in a virtual space.

Makerspace was constructed to assist the public in creating new business, industry and market opportunities by combining their creative ideas with technology. So far, in Korea, a total of 58 makerspaces have been constructed and are running currently. Makerspaces are equipped with a variety of high-tech devices such as 3D printing technology and a laser cutter as means for transforming ideas into their prototypes. In this study, we examined users' experiences in makerspaces using online questionnaires and face-to-face interviews. We then presented motivations for using makerspace, interest in using it, concerns about using technologies, and other issues related to using makerspaces. Based on the results, we proposed three suggestions to improve users' experiences in makerspaces. These suggestions include: (1) supporting teaching and learning practices in makerspaces, (2) providing professional development opportunities for instructors in makerspaces, and (3) promoting innovative services that accommodate diverse users' needs.
