Ethoxylacetyl oxime ligands [HL, (1) and $H_2L^1$, (3)] react with copper(II) acetate monohydrate yield octahedral and square planar complexes, respectively. The complexes have been postulated due to elemental analyses, IR, UVVis. spectra, magnetic susceptibility, conductivity and ESR spectra. Molar conductance of the complexes in DMF indicates a non-ionic character. The ESR spectra of [$(L)_2Cu(H_2O)_2$], (2) complex at room temperature and 77K are characteristic of an axial symmetry ($d_{x2-y2}$) with covalent bond character and have a large line width typical of dipolar interactions. However, [$(L^1)Cu$], (4) complex in the solid state showed spectra of marked broadening and loss of hyperfine splitting confirming spinexchange interactions between the copper(II) sites. The spectrum of the doped copper(II) complex at room temperature showed super-hyperfine splitting from coordinated nitrogen atoms and it has an axial type ($d_{x2-y2}$) with covalent bond character and an essentially square-planar arrangement around the copper(II) ion. The spectrum of [$(L^1)Cu$], (4) in frozen methanol at 77K was characteristic of the triplet state of a dimer species and the distance found between the two copper(II) centers was calculated and is equal to 4.8 ${\AA}$.

Electrochemical properties of Cu foil current collector with a $Li_{0.5}La_{0.5}TiO_3$ Cu a Si thin film deposited by r.f sputtering as an anode for Li free battery were evaluated. The Cu foil current collectors were lied in and out of plasma during sputtering process. The X-ray diffraction results indicated that the as-deposited Si and $Li_{0.5}La_{0.5}TiO_3$ thin films in and out of plasma did not show any crystalline difference. The $Li_{0.5}La_{0.5}TiO_3$ film in plasma and Si film out of plasma showed better cyclability since crystalline $Li_{0.5}La_{0.5}TiO_3$ has much higher ionic conductivity and crystalline Si film is much sensitive far volume change during charge-discharge process. These results suggested that the deposition of amorphous Si on Cu foil current collector is much better for fabrication of Li free battery and it can be useful for the unique battery with a cycling number constraint of below 10.
Partially fluorinated poly(arylene ether sulfone) block ionomer membranes with different branch degree for fuel cell applications were investigated. A sulfonable monomer, a non-sulfonable monomer and a trifunctional branching agent were synthesized and the sulfonable monomer was oligomerized to obtain block structures. The oligomer was then further polymerized with the non-sulfonable monomer and the branching agent. The mole ratio of oligomer : non-sulfonable monomer was fixed at 4:6 and the content of the branching agent was varied from 0 to 2 mol% (BBC-40Bx). Post-sulfonation of BBC-40Bx was carried out using chlorosulfonic acid (CSA) (SBBC-40Bx). All the synthesized compounds were characterized by $^1H$-NMR, $^{19}F$-NMR and FT-IR. It was confirmed that the ion exchange capacity (IEC), water uptake and ion conductivity of SBBC-40Bx increased with the increment of branching agent content.
Tin-based materials for lithium ion battery have been proposed as new anode candidates owing to their higher specific capacity and relatively high lithium insertion potential. Tin-based materials have been extensively studied as possible replacements for carbon anodes in lithium ion batteries. However, the large volume expansion results in severe particle cracking with loss of electrical contact, giving irreversible capacity losses which prevent the widespread use of tin-based materials in lithium batteries. So remaining studies of tin-based materials are alleviating volume expansion and improving cycle performance. In this work, $SnO_2-SiO_2$ composites were manufactured with sol-gel method to overcome their volume expansion. Carbon was coated with 10 vol% propylene gas. The characteristics of active material and the effect of heat treatment were investigated with TG/DTA, XRD, SEM and FT-IR. Electrochemical characteristics of these composites were measured with CR2032 type coin cells. Carbon coated $SnO_2-SiO_2$at $300^{\circ}C$ heat treatment showed the best electrochemical performance.
A graft copolymer, i.e. poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene )-g-poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-PSSA) with 47 wt% of PSSA was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). This copolymer was combined with titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) to produce graft copolymer/$TiO_2$ nanocomposite membranes via sol-gel process. $TiO_2$ precursor (TTIP) was selectively incorporated into the hydrophilic PSSA domains of the graft copolymer and grown to form $TiO_2$ nanoparticles, as confirmed by FT-IR and UV-visible spectroscopy. Water uptake and ion exchange capacity (IEC) decreased with TTIP contents due to the decrease in number of sulfonic acid in the membranes. At 5 wt% of TTIP, the mechanical properties of membranes increased while maintaining the proton conductivity.
A series of amorphous polyesters were synthesized from amorphous polyether and sebacoyl chloride. The structure and competition of the obtained aliphatic polyester were confirmed by $^1$H-NMR and FT-IR. The number average molecular weights (M$_{n}$) of the obtained polymer were ranging from 8000 ~ 15000. These polyesters showed no crystallinity and their glass transition temperatures (T$_{g}$) were around -77$^{\circ}C$. For comparison, aliphatic polyesters were also synthesized from poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) with M$_{n}$ of 200, 400, and 1000. As the M$_{n}$ of PEG increased, the melting point of the obtained polyester increased, and the crystallinity of the obtained polyester increased showing 8.8%, 16.2%, and 46.7%, respectively.ively.y.
In this study, an anion-exchange ionomer solution was prepared by grinding poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide) (PPO) in liquid nitrogen for solid alkaline fuel cells (SAFCs). Type of quaternized PPO (QPPO) solutions was controlled by grinding time. The ionomer binder solutions were characterized in terms of dispersity, particle size, and electrochemical properties. As a result, ionomer binder solutions using grinded polymer showed higher dispersion and smaller particle size distribution than that using non-grinded polymer. The highest ionic conductivity and IEC of the membrane recast by using BPPO-G120s were $0.025S\;cm^{-1}$ and $1.26meq\;g^{-1}$, respectively.
Poly(ethylene glycol) with number-average molecular weight (M$_{n}$) of 200 (PEG 200) or 400 (PEG 400) was reacted with various linking agents (CH$_2$Cl$_2$, CH$_2$Br$_2$, CH$_2$I$_2$, Br(CH$_2$)$_3$Br) in the presence of alkali to form of oxyalkylene linked chains. Molecular weights of copolymers were controlled using feed mole ratio of alkali/CH$_2$C1$_2$/PEG. The M$_{n}$ of the polymers measured by end group analysis and that measured by GPC agreed well. Molecuglar weights of polyether copolymers obtained from PEG 200 and PEG 400 were about 500~8500 and 1000~2000, respectively. Polyether copolymers prepared from PEG 400 showed melting points of around 1$0^{\circ}C$. Glass transition temperatures of the copolymers were around -75$^{\circ}C$ and the crystallinity was about 0~25%. The polyether copolymers prepared from PEG 200 had no crystallinity below the M$_{n}$ of 2500. 2500.
In this article, we report the fabrication and characterization of $CNT/Co_3O_4$ nanocomposite for lithium ion batteries. We expected that the composition with CNT is effective method to compensate for the low electronic conductivity of $Co_3O_4$ and suppress the stress from phase transition of $Co_3O_4$ during cycling. $CNT/Co_3O_4$ nanocomposites were composed of nano-sized $Co_3O_4$ particles, which were homogeneously distributed on the surface of CNTs. The $CNT/Co_3O_4$ electrode presented higher capacity than commercial graphite, good rate capability and stable cyclic performance. This implies that the $CNT/Co_3O_4$ could be a promising anode material for lithium ion batteries.
Sulfonated poly (arylene ether sulfone) (SPAES) random copolymers have merits such as high proton conductivity, relatively low production cost, and thermochemical resistance when applied as polymer electrolyte membranes for fuel cells. However, it is difficult to directly employ SPAES copolymers into practical fuel cell membrane applications owing to their low chemical stability and dimensional instability under harsh operation conditions. A plausible solution is to impregnate SPAES copolymers into support films (e.g., electrospun polyimide support) with interconnected pore structures and high thermochemical toughness. In this study, a SPAES copolymer with a swivel group, which induces high free volume for fast ion transport, is chosen as ionomers to prepare pore-filling membranes (PFMs). The feasibility of the resulting membranes is evaluated via membrane characterizations.
