A comparison was made of the effect of different packaging materials on storability of mixed sprout vegetables (alfalfa, broccoli, cabbage, radish, and red radish) stored at $8^{\circ}C$. They were packaged by several kinds of films that were 50 fm thickness low-density polyethylene film (PE 50), 50 fm thickness polypropylene film (PP 50), $50{\mu}m$ thickness ceramic film (CE 50), $25{\mu}m$ thickness ceramic film (CE 25), $10\sim13{\mu}m$ thickness polyethylene film (wrap), and polyethylene terephthalate box with ventilation hole (box). The fresh weight of mixed sprouts packaged with different materials decreased below to 2% except box packages that decreased around 7% compared with initial weight. The atmospheres that were developed inside the different materials during storage differed significantly. The carbon dioxide and oxygen concentration of packages were kept properly with 5% in CE 25, but the PE 50 and CE 50 treatments showed higher carbon dioxide and lower oxygen concentration. So the off-flavor of mixed sprouts was more severe in the PE 50 and CE 50 treatment. The ethylene concentration of packages showed lowest in box treatment, followed by PP 50, wrap and CE 25 treatment. The overall quality of mixed sprouts was lower in PE 50 and CE 50 than CE 25 treatment after 10 days storage, supposed to be resulted from highest ethylene concentration and lowest oxygen concentration. Conclusionally, the CE 25 film that showed below 1% fresh weight loss, 5% carbon dioxide, 5% oxygen and below 4 ppm ethylene concentration in package may be a proper packaging material for mixed sprout vegetables.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the quality change of fresh-cut tumeric (Curcuma Longa Linne) according to packaging method during storage time. The fresh-cut tumeric were packaged in three different methods : degassing valve packaging (DVP), $CO_2$ gas absorber packaging (CAP) and micro-perforated packaging (MPP). After the samples were packaged, they were stored for 15 days at 4 and $23^{\circ}C$ respectively. The following parameters were observed to indicate the quality changes of the samples: weight loss, CIE $L^*a^*b^*$ colour difference, variation of gas composition inside the package, curcumin contents and changes in hardness of fresh-cut tumeric. DVP did not effectively release $CO_2$ gas to the outside. MPP was suitable to release $CO_2$ gas. However, MPP showed very fast browning and erosion, because a large amount of oxygen was introduced through the perforated hole on the film. CAP was most effective packaging method to inhibit browning, to prevent expansion of the packaging by $CO_2$ gas and to minimize weight loss of fresh-cut tumeric.
A magentotelluric (MT) survey at the Uiseong area has been performed for the site investigation of pilot scale $CO_2$ sequestration. The purpose of the MT survey is to delineate deeply extended fracture systems that can act as a leakage path of injected $CO_2$ Plume. Since the target area is extremely noisy in electromagentic sense, low frequency data below 1 Hz cannot be used for inversion. Two- and three-dimensional interpretation of the MT data showed a very clear conductive anomaly, which has the direction of $N55\sim65^{\circ}W$ and is extended roughly down to 1.6 km. It have the same direction with the strike-slip faults, the Gaeum and Geumcheon Faults. On the contrary, the eastern part of the survey area shows relatively homogeneous to the depth of 2 km though some small fractures at shallow depths can be found. Test drilling and high-definition borehole surveys should be followed at the eastern part of the survey area and hydraulic fracturing is required for injection of $CO_2$, because mean porosity of the sedimetary rock in the area is only 1.47%.
CO2 capture and storage (CCS) is one of the promising technologies that can mitigate ever-growing emission of anthropogenic carbon dioxide and resultant climate change. Among them, chemical looping combustion (CLC) and calcium looping (CaL) are getting increasing attention recently as the prospective alternatives to the existing amine scrubbing. Both methods use metal oxides in the process and consist of cyclic reactions. Yet, due to their cyclic nature, they both need to resolve sintering-induced cyclic stability deterioration. Moreover, the structure of the metal oxides needs to be optimized to enhance the overall performance of CO2 capture and storage. Deposition of thin film coating on the metal oxide is another way to get rid of wear and tear during the sintering process. Chemical vapor deposition or atomic layer deposition are the well-known, established methods to form thin film membranes, which will be discussed in this review. Various effective recent developments on structural modification of metal oxide and incorporation of stabilizers for cyclic stability are also discussed.
These studies were carried out to find the effect of packing materials and storage temperature to enhance the storability of Salicornia europaea. The fresh weight loss was less than 2% at below $10^{\circ}C$ and non-perforated package, but $25^{\circ}C$ and perforated package treatment showed more than 4% of fresh weight loss that result to deteriorate quality. The carbon dioxide and oxygen contents remained 1~2% and above 15% in non-perforated package, and these contents were in proportion to gas permeability of packing materials. All the temperature treatments except 25c showed rapidly increasing ethylene concent from 7days after storage, and the highest ethylene content was $2^{\circ}C$ treatment that should appear chilling injury. The off-odor and deterioration ratio were lowest in $5^{\circ}C$ among the temperature treatments and $50{\mu}m$ thickness ceramic film treatment at $5^{\circ}C$ storage, while packing materials did not show any trends among the temperature treatments. The shelf life based on visual quality showed highest in $50{\ss}|$ thickness ceramic film packing and $5^{\circ}C$ treatment, and that was 28days.

In this study, edible coatings for ‘Niikata’ pears have been applied in order to provide an alternative way to control and extend market quality and shelf life during cold storage. Fruit treated with edible coatings had better effects on maintaining some quality features such as fresh weight, firmness and SSC content than non-coated fruits. However, non-coated fruits in terms of overall quality were better evaluated than fruit with edible film. It may be caused by various factors such as film thickness effect oil emulsion on fruit skin, unknown reactions between the fruit skin and functional groups in the chitosan structure and so on.
In recent years, the importance of Carbon Capture and Storage (hereafter CCS) is growing bigger and bigger. The development and commercialization of CCS technology are concerned for reducing carbon dioxide($CO_2$) emissions. For the most studies, the technology of $CO_2$ storage is known as the geological storage, ocean sequestration, mineral carbonation, industrial utilization, and so on. The geological storage is adjudged the most reasonable technology from economic and environmental aspects. Generally, the $CO_2$ geological storage is comprised of compression - transportation - drilling/injection - storage/management process. The critical problem is a leakage of $CO_2$ in all process. For resolving a leakage problem, it is necessary to predict and build a monitoring system. Those systems are proved safety of a leakage and received positive social perceptions of $CO_2$ geological storage. For those reasons, a risk assessment of $CO_2$ geological storage is required. A risk assessment is an estimated process of the possible effects when spilling $CO_2$. Although numerous studies of risk assessment have studied, it is incomplete to evaluate a risk and disaster quantitatively. The risk assessment will be developed for domestic application and safe $CO_2$ geological storage considering characteristics of Korea.
