  • This paper presents a method of image analysis based on discrete cosine transform (DCT) and fuzzy inference(Fl). It concentrated not only on the design of fuzzy inference algorithm but also on incorporating human visual parameter(HVP) into transform coefficients. In the first, HVP such as entropy, texture degree are calculated from the coefficients matrix of DCT. Secondly, using these parameters, fuzzy input variables are generated. Mamdani's operator as well as ${\alpha}$-cut function are involved to simulate the proposed approach, and consequently, experimental results are presented to testify the performance and applicability of the proposed scheme.

  • This paper presents image data compression using a classified vector quantization (CVQ) which categories edge blocks according to the energy distribution of subimages in the discrete cosine transform domain. Classifying the edge blocks enhances visual quality of the compressed images while maintaining a high compression ratio. The proposed classification method categories subimages into eight lypes of edge features according to an energy distribution. A neural network, trained with the data generated from the proposed classification method, can successfully classify subimages to eight edge categories. Experimental results are given to show how the (1VQ method incorporatd with a neural network can produce faithful compressed image quality for high compression ratios.

  • In this paper, we proposed color image watermarking using human visual system. A watermark is embedded by transforming a color image of RGB coordinate into a color image of HSI coordinate with considering that chromatic components are less sensitive than achromatic components. Watermark is embedded in the frequency domain of the chromatic channels by using discrete cosine transform. Watermark is extracted from watermarked image by using inverse discrete cosine transform. To verify the proposed method, a standard image and a fingerprint image are used for the original image and the watermark image, respectively. Simulation results are satisfied with invisibility and robustness from attacks as image compression.

  • Image compression is the application of Data compression on digital images. The (DCT) discrete cosine transform is a technique for converting a time domain to a frequency domain. It is widely used in image compression. First, the image is divided into 8x8 pixel blocks. Apply the DCT to each block while processing from top to bottom from left to right. Each block is compressed through quantization. The space of the compressed block array constituting the image is greatly reduced. Reconstruct the image through the IDCT. The purpose of this research is to understand compression/decompression of images using the DCT method.

  • As texture images have become prevalent throughout a variety of industrial applications, copyright protection of these images has become important issues. For this reason, this paper proposes a color-texture image watermarking algorithm utilizing texture properties inherent in the image. The proposed algorithm selects suitable blocks to embed a watermark using the energy and homogeneity properties of the grey level co-occurrence matrices as inputs for the fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm. To embed the watermark, we first perform a discrete wavelet transform (DWT) on the selected blocks and choose one of DWT subbands. Then, we embed the watermark into discrete cosine transformed blocks with a gain factor. In this study, we also explore the effects of the DWT subbands and gain factors with respect to the imperceptibility and robustness against various watermarking attacks. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves higher peak signal-to-noise ratio values (47.66 dB to 48.04 dB) and lower M-SVD values (8.84 to 15.6) when we embedded a watermark into the HH band with a gain factor of 42, which means the proposed algorithm is good enough in terms of imperceptibility. In addition, the proposed algorithm guarantees robustness against various image processing attacks, such as noise addition, filtering, cropping, and JPEG compression yielding higher normalized correlation values (0.7193 to 1).

  • Noise removal methods for noisy images have been studied a lot in the domain of spatial and transform filtering. Low pass filtering was initially applied in the spatial domain. Recently, discrete wavelet transform has widely used for image denoising as well as image compression due to an excellent energy compaction and a property of multiresolution. In this paper, Gabor cosine and sine transform which is considered as human visual filter is applied to image denoising areas using soft thresholding technique. GCST is compared with excellent wavelet transform which uses existing soft thresholding methods from PSNR point of view. Resultant images removed noises are also visually compared. Experimental results with adding four different standard deviation levels of Gaussian distributed noises to real images show that the proposed transform has better PSNR performance of a maximum of 1.18 dB and visible perception than wavelet transform.

  • Adaptive filtering method is one of signal processing area which is frequently used in the case of statistical characteristic change in time-varing situation. The performance of adaptive filter is usually evaluated with complexity of its structure, convergence speed and misadjustment. The structure of adaptive filter must be simple and its speed of adaptation must be fast for real-time implementation. In this paper, we propose chirp discrete cosine transform (CDCT), which has the characteristics of CZT (chrip z-transform) and DCT (discrete cosine transform), and then CDCTLMS (chirp discrete cosine transform LMS) using the above mentioned algorithm for the improvement of its speed of adaptation. Using loaming curve, we prove that the proposed method is superior to the conventional US (normalized LMS) algorithm and DCTLMS (discrete cosine transform LMS) algorithm. Also, we show the real application for the ultrasonic signal processing.

  • In this paper. we propose a coding method using a matching pursuit algorithm in a strongly periodic highband signal. Also. we propose an efficient quantizer for the estimated parameters : spectral magnitude and phase. Based on the error concealment principle and sinusoidal model. the MP algorithm requires the high-precision pitch period estimation. To estimate more accurate pitch period. the refined pitch obtained from lowband speech is used. which increases the efficiency of bit allocation. The spectral magnitude parameters are quantized by the method which is combined with MDCT (Modified Discrete Cosine Transform) and multi-stage structure. The spectral phase quantizer uses the $2{\pi}$ modular characteristic of phases and the weighted function by spectral magnitudes. To evaluate the efficiency of the proposed method. we applied it to analysis-by-synthesis system. Furthermore we suggest the possibillity of scalable wideband speech codecs based on band-split structure.

  • In this paper, we propose a selective feature extraction algorithm between Markov transition probability and co-occurrence probability for an effective image splicing detection. The Features used in our method are composed of the difference values between DCT coefficients in the adjacent blocks and the value of Kullback-Leibler divergence(KLD) is calculated to evaluate the differences between the distribution of original image features and spliced image features. KLD value is an efficient measure for selecting Markov feature or Co-occurrence feature because KLD shows non-similarity of the two distributions. After training the extracted feature vectors using the SVM classifier, we determine whether the presence of the image splicing forgery. To verify our algorithm we used grid search and 6-folds cross-validation. Based on the experimental results it shows that the proposed method has good detection performance with a limited number of features compared to conventional methods.

  • The use of anti-scatter grids in radiographic imaging has the advantage of preventing the image distortion caused by scattered radiation. However, it carries the side effect of leaving artifacts in the X-ray image. In this paper, we propose a grid line suppression technique using discrete cosine transform(DCT). In X-ray images, the grid lines have different characteristics depending on the shape of the object and the area of the image. To solve this problem, we adopt the DCT transform based on a dynamic segmentation, and propose a filter transfer function for each individual segment. An algorithm for detecting the band of grid lines in frequency domain and a band stop filter(BSF) with a filter transfer function of a combination of Kaiser window and Butterworth filter have been proposed. To solve the blocking effects, we present a method to determine the pixel values using multiple structured images. The validity of the proposed theory has been evaluated from the experimental results using 140 X-ray images.
