Performance of Feature-based Stitching Algorithms for Multiple Images Captured by Tunnel Scanning System (터널 스캐닝 다중 촬영 영상의 특징점 기반 접합 알고리즘 성능평가)

  • Due to the increase in construction of tunnels, the burdens of maintenance works for tunnel structures have been increasing in Korea. In addition, the increase of traffic volume and aging of materials also threatens the safety of tunnel facilities, therefore, maintenance costs are expected to increase significantly in the future. Accordingly, automated condition assessment technologies like image-based tunnel scanning system for inspection and diagnosis of tunnel facilities have been proposed. For image-based tunnel scanning system, it is key to create a planar image through stitching of multiple images captured by tunnel scanning system. In this study, performance of feature-based stitching algorithms suitable for stitching tunnel scanning images was evaluated. In order to find a suitable algorithm SIFT, ORB, and BRISK are compared. The performance of the proposed algorithm was determined by the number of feature extraction, calculation speed, accuracy of feature matching, and image stitching result. As for stitching performance, SIFT algorithm was the best in all parts of tunnel image. ORB and BRISK also showed satisfactory performance and short calculation time. SIFT can be used to generate precise planar images. ORB and BRISK also showed satisfactory stitching results, confirming the possibility of being used when real-time stitching is required.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine the most recent tunnel scanning systems to obtain insights for the development of non-contact mobile inspection system. Tunnel scanning systems are mostly being developed by adapting two main technologies, namely laser scanning and image scanning systems. Laser scanning system has the advantage of accurately recreating the geometric characteristics of tunnel linings from point cloud. On the other hand, image scanning system employs computer vision to effortlessly identify damage, such as fine cracks and leaks on the tunnel lining surface. The analysis suggests that image scanning system is more suitable for detecting damage on tunnel linings. A camera-based tunnel scanning system under development should include components such as lighting, data storage, power supply, and image-capturing controller synchronized with vehicle speed.

3D Image Scan Automation Planning based on Mobile Rover (이동식 로버 기반 스캔 자동화 계획에 대한 연구)

  • When using conventional 3D image scanning methods, it is common for image scanning to be done manually, which is labor-intensive. Scanning a space made up of complicated equipment or scanning a narrow space that is difficult for the user to enter, is problematic, resulting in quality degradation due to the presence of shadow areas. This paper proposes a method to scan an image using a rover equipped with a scanner in areas where it is difficult for a person to enter. To control the scan path precisely, the 3D image remote scan automation method based on the rover move rule definition is described. Through the study, the user can automate the 3D scan plan in a desired manner by defining the rover scan path as the rule base.

  • 대용량의 멀티미디어 자료를 기반으로 하는 산업의 급성장은 이에 적합한 효율적인 저장 및 검색시스템을 요구하고 있다. 그러나, 멀티미디어 자료의 고차원적인 특성은 저장과 검색에 있어 성능을 저하시키는 문제점으로 지적되고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 멀티미디어 자료로부터 저차원의 특성을 추출하여 내용기반 검색을 수행하는 연구가 진행되어오고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이미지내의 객체 MBR(Minimum Bounding Rectangle)을 이용하여 저차원의 색상정보와 모양정보를 추출하는 기법을 제안한다. 히스토그램정보는 이미지의 객체를 포함하는 MBR을 이용하여 9개의 타일로 균등분할하여 추출하며, 모양정보는 객체 MBR의 중심으로부터 16방향의 스캐닝을 통해 16개의 점으로 구성된 모양정보를 추출한다. 실험을 통하여 추출된 정보의 검색성능을 평가하였다.

  • In this paper, 3D recognizing algorithm which is based on the external shape feature is presented. Since many objects have the regular shape, if we posses the database of pattern and we recognize the object using the database of the object's pattern, it is possible to inspect and/or recognize the objects of many fields. This paper handles on the 3D object recognition algorithm using the geometrical pattern matching by 3D database.

  • 최근 클라우드가 전 산업에 도입되면서 클라우드 네이티브 환경에 관한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 클라우드 서비스 개발자는 도커 (Docker) 이미지를 활용하여 개발 환경을 구축하고 배포한다. 그러나 종래의 이미지 스캐닝 도구들은 해시값 기반의 시그니처 탐지 방법론을 사용하기 때문에 제로데이 취약점을 탐지하지 못하거나, 이미 저장된 CVE DB에 있는 취약점만 탐지할 수 있었다. 본 논문은 도커 이미지의 계층성을 활용하여 다형성 도커 이미지 공격을 탐지할 수 있는 기법을 제안한다. 실험결과에 따르면 제안한 방법은 종래 방법 대비 다형성 도커 이미지 공격 탐지율을 28.6% 개선할 수 있었다.

FPGA Design and Realization for Scanning Image Enhancement using LUT Shading Correction Algorithm (LUT 쉐이딩 보정 알고리듬을 이용한 스캐닝 이미지 향상 FPGA 설계 구현)

  • This paper describes FPGA design and realization using the shading correction algorithm for a CCD scan image enhancement. The shading algorithm is used by LUT (Look-up Table). The image enhancement results from that the histogram minimum value and maximum with respect to all pixels of the CCD image should be extracted, and the shading LUT is constructed to keep constant histogram with offset data. The output of sensor be converted to corrected LUT image in preprocessing, and the converting system is realized by FPGA to be enabled to operate in real time. The result of the experimentation for the proposed system is showed to take the scanning time 2.4ms below. The system is presented to be based on a low speed processor system to scan enhanced images in real time and be guaranteed to be low cost.

  • Modem efforts on digitizing electronic books focus on preserving authentic image representation of the original sources. Unlike the text-based format, it is difficult to recognize the information in the image, so the new format requires new tools to help users to access, process, and make sense of digital information. This paper presents an approach which assists users of these image sources by giving them a combination of annotation and social navigation support. Especially in the education domain, the proposed technique improves the usability of online education system. This approach is currently fully implemented and under evaluation in a classroom study.

Abnormality Detection Method of Factory Roof Fixation Bolt by Using AI

  • In this paper, we propose a system that analyzes drone photographic images of panel-type factory roofs and conducts abnormal detection of bolts. Currently, inspectors directly climb onto the roof to carry out the inspection. However, safety accidents caused by working conditions at high places are continuously occurring, and new alternatives are needed. In response, the results of drone photography, which has recently emerged as an alternative to the dangerous environment inspection plan, will be easily inspected by finding the location of abnormal bolts using deep learning. The system proposed in this study proceeds with scanning the captured drone image using a sample image for the situation where the bolt cap is released. Furthermore, the scanned position is discriminated by using AI, and the presence/absence of the bolt abnormality is accurately discriminated. The AI used in this study showed 99% accuracy in test results based on VGGNet.

Study on Measuring Geometrical Modification of Document Image in Scanning Process (스캐닝 과정에서 발생하는 전자문서의 기하학적 변형감지에 관한 연구)

  • Scanner which is a kind of optical devices is used to convert paper documents into document image files. The assessment of scanned document image is performed to check if there are any modification on document image files in scanning process. In assessment of scanned documents, user checks the degree of skew, noise, folded state and etc This paper proposed to how to measure geometrical modifications of document image in scanning process. In this study, we check the degree of modification in document image file by image processing and we compare the evaluation value which means the degree of modification in each items with OCR success ratio in a document image file. To analyse the correlation between OCR success ratio and the evaluation value which means the degree of modification in each items, we apply Pearson Correlation Coefficient and calculate weight value for each items to score total evaluation value of image modification degrees on a image file. The document image which has high rating score by proposed method also has high OCR success ratio.
