Epistemological Implications of Scientific Reasoning Designed by Preservice Elementary Teachers during Their Simulation Teaching: Evidence-Explanation Continuum Perspective (초등 예비교사가 모의수업 시연에서 구성한 과학적 추론의 인식론적 의미 - 증거-설명 연속선의 관점 -)

  • In this study, I took the evidence-explanation (E-E) continuum perspective to examine the epistemological implications of scientific reasoning cases designed by preservice elementary teachers during their simulation teaching. The participants were four preservice teachers who conducted simulation instruction on the seasons and high/low air pressure and wind. The selected discourse episodes, which included cases of inductive, deductive, or abductive reasoning, were analyzed for their epistemological implications-specifically, the role played by the reasoning cases in the E-E continuum. The two preservice teachers conducting seasons classes used hypothetical-deductive reasoning when they identified evidence by comparing student-group data and tested a hypothesis by comparing the evidence with the hypothetical statement. However, they did not adopt explicit reasoning for creating the hypothesis or constructing a model from the evidence. The two preservice teachers conducting air pressure and wind classes applied inductive reasoning to find evidence by summarizing the student-group data and adopted linear logic-structured deductive reasoning to construct the final explanation. In teaching similar topics, the preservice teachers showed similar epistemic processes in their scientific reasoning cases. However, the epistemological implications of the instruction were not similar in terms of the E-E continuum. In addition, except in one case, the teachers were neither good at abductive reasoning for creating a hypothesis or an explanatory model, nor good at using reasoning to construct a model from the evidence. The E-E continuum helps in examining the epistemological implications of scientific reasoning and can be an alternative way of transmitting scientific reasoning.

A Semiotic Study on Streetscape in Harbor - With A Special Reference to Gang-Gu Harbor of Young-Duk Gun - (항구 가로경관의 기호학적 분석 - 영덕군 강구항을 중심으로 -)

  • This study is performed to light up the semiotic system of streetscape in the harbor on the basic concept of all cultural phenomena that could be described as a Semiotic System. The semiotic approach to landscape analysis was used for understanding landscape characteristics owing to implication of psychological process. Streets of the study were located at Ganguri and Opori on Gang-Gu Harbor and the signboard semiotics of streets were divided into 17 meanings according to the business category. The analysis of this category was applicable on semiotic meaning. The research results are as follows: First, the main part of the business category was food. 56.3% of Ganguri and 61.8% of Opori had the name of food businesses. Second, the semiotic characteristics of Gang-Gu harbor streets mainly mean place name or friendly name. The food business could be related to the principal products of this district which are called Young-Duk Great Crab. Also, the place name could be from symbolic meaning of the crab and the friendly name could be connected with increasing the sales. Finally, the semiotic approach to landscape does not fully cover the streetscape but could be useful for understanding a skeleton of harbor streetscape.

The Meaning of the 'Collective Intelligence' in the Transmedia Discourse (트랜스미디어 담론에 대한 집단지성론적 고찰)

  • Transmedia has become a significant theme in the media studies sector and an academic discourse itself since its wide diffusion through Henry Jenkins' seminar book Convergence Culture. The aim of this essay is to examine the authentic intention of the proposer to understand its profound meaning and value in the research discourse. Firstly, Transmedia has originated as a part of the convergence culture research context, which is an identical approach in the 'active audience' research tradition. Thus, a history of the research in terms of Birmingham Cultural Studies tradition and its implication is scrutinized. Secondly, in respect of Pierre Levy's 'collective intelligence' which made significant influence on the making of the Convergence Culture and Transmedia Storytelling, the meaing of the transmedia discourse is studied. Thirdly and finally, the implication of this concept as a critical theory or Critique in the Cultural Studies tradition, which has highlighted the importance of the revelation of the binary oppositions and structures of dominance/resistance, with the interpretation of the role of the collective intelligence idea in the transmedia discourse, is studied.

  • This study originates from the following problematic: Can a social history of design provide a useful methodology for the research and education of Korean design? For the understanding of the modes of socio-cultural approach to design, the chapter 2 compares the narrative mode of designer-centered history promulgated under the influence of Nikolaus Pevsner and that of socio-cultural approach advocated by Adrian Forty. The chapter 3 studies the cases of socio-cultural approach to Korean design through the domestic exhibitions like 'Everyday Life, Memory and History,' 'A Glimpse into the Society through Campaigns,' and 'Design Culture in Korea 1910-1960' which attempted the socio-cultural approach to the visual culture of modern/contemporary Korea. In the chapter 4, this study investigates into the meanings and characteristics of socio-cultural approach in the design research and education, End argues for the necessity of the introduction of qualitative research methodology.

Context-based Web Application Design (컨텍스트 기반의 웹 애플리케이션 설계 방법론)

  • Developing and managing Web applications are more complex than ever because of their growing functionalities, advancing Web technologies, increasing demands for integration with legacy applications, and changing content and structure. All these factors call for a more inclusive and comprehensive Web application design method. In response, we propose a context-based Web application design methodology that is based on several classification schemes including a Webpage classification, which is useful for identifying the information delivery mechanism and its relevant Web technology; a link classification, which reflects the semantics of various associations between pages; and a software component classification, which is helpful for pinpointing the roles of various components in the course of design. The proposed methodology also incorporates a unique Web application model comprised of a set of information clusters called compendia, each of which consists of a theme, its contextual pages, links, and components. This view is useful for modular design as well as for management of ever-changing content and structure of a Web application. The proposed methodology brings together all the three classification schemes and the Web application model to arrive at a set of both semantically cohesive and syntactically loose-coupled design artifacts.

  • 최적경로문제는 한 지점에서 다른 지점으로 이동할 때, 최소한의 비용으로 이동할 수 있는 경로를 찾는 문제를 의미하며, 최근 인터넷을 이용한 경로 안내 시스템에 적용되어 왔다. 이때, 보통 시간비용을 최소로 하는 경로를 제공하는 것이 일반적이다. 그러나 현실적으로 우리는 타인에게 어떠한 경로를 설명하거나 알려 줄 때, 인지도나 접근성이 높은 경로를 포함하는 경우가 많다. 이에 본 연구에서는 교통경로를 산출할 때 접근성이 높은 경로를 포함하여 경로를 구성하는 방안을 제시하였다 이를 구현하기 위해 건축, 도시공간에서 접근성 분석에 사용되고 있는 Space Syntax라는 방법론을 적용하였다. GIS 데이터 구조를 이용하기 위해 알고리즘을 일부 수정하였으며, 일반적으로 최단거리 산출에 많이 사용되고 있는 Dijkstra 알고리즘과 결합하여 구축하였다. 이렇게 구축된 알고리즘을 소규모의 교통 네트웍상에 적용하여 테스트하였다.

  • 텍스트의 스토리를 자동으로 이해하기 위해 텍스트에서 기술된 사건(event)을 파악하고 이들을 조합하여 스토리가 어떻게 구성되어 있는지를 파악하는 연구들이 진행되어 왔다. 하지만 이는 스토리의 깊은 의미론적 이해를 요구하는 것 이외에도 텍스트마다 상황과 일어나는 사건들이 다양하기 때문에 언어 자원이 부족한 환경에서의 처리에는 한계가 있다. 이러한 문제는 사건들을 추상화 하여 단순하게 표현할 수 있다면 스토리 이해의 자연스러움을 저해하지 않고 해결 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 사건들의 추상화 과정을 위한 기초 연구로서 텍스트 속 등장인물이 행하거나 당하는 사건들을 추출하여 PMI기법을 통해 사건의 흐름을 파악하고 언어학적 단서를 참조하여 스토리 이해 과정에 누락될 수 있는 사건들을 추가하여 보완하였다. 이러한 접근을 통해 등장인물이 행할 수 있는 사건들을 재구성하여 단순화하는 방법을 제시한다.

Development of Deep Learning-Based Damage Detection Prototype for Concrete Bridge Condition Evaluation (콘크리트 교량 상태평가를 위한 딥러닝 기반 손상 탐지 프로토타입 개발)

  • Recently, research has been actively conducted on the technology of inspection facilities through image-based analysis assessment of human-inaccessible facilities. This research was conducted to study the conditions of deep learning-based imaging data on bridges and to develop an evaluation prototype program for bridges. To develop a deep learning-based bridge damage detection prototype, the Semantic Segmentation model, which enables damage detection and quantification among deep learning models, applied Mask-RCNN and constructed learning data 5,140 (including open-data) and labeling suitable for damage types. As a result of performance modeling verification, precision and reproduction rate analysis of concrete cracks, stripping/slapping, rebar exposure and paint stripping showed that the precision was 95.2 %, and the recall was 93.8 %. A 2nd performance verification was performed on onsite data of crack concrete using damage rate of bridge members.

  • 논문의 내용에서는 21세기 초일류 기업을 위한 신경영기법의 종합적 접근방법을 논하고자 하였으며 지속적인 생산성 향상을 추구하는 기업의 생산 시스템을 세계수준급으로까지 발전시키는 비젼성에 관하여 논의하였다. TIFA란 생산성 향상을 위한 방법론이요, 생산방법의 개량이요, 인간을 위한 융통성 있는 생산 시스템이라고 했다. 하지만 그 생산방식에 인간중시, 인가존중의 휴면정신이 외면 당한다면, 그것은 결코 진정한 의미의 TIFA라고 말할 수 없다. TIFA란 생산현장, 산업근로자들의 신념과 긍지까지 현미경적 시각으로 발견, 연구해야 한다는 것이다. 즉, 진정한 TIFA란 생산성 향상을 위한 과학과 기술, 인간과 경영의 하모니로 시작되는 유연하고도 융통성 있는 생산 시스템이라고 정의한다.

  • 1980년대가 뉴럴네트워크의 이론적 재도약으로 특성화할 수 있다면 1990년대는 여러 분야의 제반문제에 뉴럴네트워크가 적용되어 기존의 다른 문제해결방법을 대체하거나 보완하는 적용확산 기간이라 말할 수 있다. 이는 '인간의 두뇌활동의 이해'라는 본래적인 뉴럴네트워크의 심리/생리학적 목적과는 관계 없이 제반 문제의 해결에 뉴럴네트워크의 방법론적 강점을 활용하는 공학적 접근방안의 확산을 의미하며, 본 논문의 내용 또한 이러한 측면에서 기술되고 있다. 다음은 뉴럴네트워크의 정의와 특성을 약술하고 계속하여 뉴럴네트워크의 종류와 뉴럴네트워크 적용시의 지침을 정리해 본다.
