  • 증기압축식 열펌프시스템은 그림 1에 나타난 바와 같이 증발기에서의 흡열과 응축기의 방열을 냉난방에 이용할 수 있으며, 공기를 열원으로 할 때는 공기 중 저밀도의 에너지를 고밀도의 에너지로 전환하여 이용할 수 있으며 지중 온도의 연중변화가 적은 점을 이용하여 지열을 열원으로 할 때는 공기를 열원으로 할 경우에 필요한 제상 장치(defrost cycle)가 필요 없게 되고, 압축기 부하도 줄어들게 되어 열펌프 수명이 길어지게 되며 경제성을 확보할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. (중략)

Analysis of Pressure Drop and Heat Loss in Liquid Sodium Circulation Wick of AMTEC (AMTEC의 소디움액체 순환윅에서 압력손실 및 열손실해석)

  • An AMTEC (alkali metal thermal electric converter) is a device that is used for the direct conversion of heat to electricity. Sodium is used as the working fluid, and its circulation is driven by a capillary wick. The wicks used for circulation include an evaporator wick, artery wick, and condenser wick, and each wick has a pressure drop because of the circulation of liquid and vapor. For the circulation of sodium, the capillary pressure of the evaporator wick must be greater than the total pressure drop in the wicks. In this study, the pressure drop in the evaporator wick, artery wick, and condenser wick and the heat loss from the evaporator to the condenser through the artery wick were analyzed for the design of a 100 W AMTEC prototype. It was found that a particle diameter of 10 ${\mu}m$ is suitable for the evaporator wick to maintain a capillary pressure greater than total pressure drop in the circulation loop.

  • Recently membrane-based gas separation has attracted a lot of attention due to the growing demands on energy efficient separation processes. Current membrane-based gas separation is dominant by polymer membranes and limited mostly to non-condensable gases rather than condensable gases such as hydrocarbon isomers due to the limitation s of polymer materials. Metal-organic framework (MOF) materials, consisting of metal ions and organic ligands, have received a tremendous attention as membrane materials due to high surface area, controllable pore structure, and functionality. In this review, we provide a recent development of MOF membrane preparation methods and their gas separation applications.

Growth Characteristics of Lettuce under Low Pressure (저압조건에서 상추의 생육 특성)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the feasibility of plant growth under low pressure and to investigate the effect of pressure on plant growth. Three levels of pressures (25, 50, and 101.3 kPa (control)) were provided to analyze the growth of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) as affected by low pressure. Photoperiod, air temperature, and photosynthetic photon flux were set at 16/8 h, 26/$18^{\circ}C$, and $240{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}s^{-1}$, respectively. Growth characteristics of lettuce were measured on 7 days and 14 days after experiment. Leaf length, leaf width, leaf area, and root dry weight of lettuce measured on 7 days under 25 and 50 kPa were significant as compared to the control. Leaf length, top dry matter and root dry matter of lettuce measured on 14 days were significantly different under 25 and 50 kPa. From these results, we confirmed that lettuce could be grown under low pressure. However high relative humidity by evapotranspiration from leaves and growing beds under low pressure caused the condensation on the inner surface of the chamber. Therefore in a low pressure chamber, humidity control is required to maintain the relative humidity at a proper level.

Weight Loss Prediction by Operating Conditions of CA Storage (CA저장고의 작동 환경에 따른 감모율 예측)

  • Weight loss that influences quality and farmer incomes is affected by the storage environment of agricultural products. The interior of storage should be maintained at high humidity to prevent the weight loss of products which contain a lot of moisture. The research had constantly proceeded with change in the heat exchanger surface areas, humidity systems, and weight loss forecast to maintain high humidity within storage. Relative humidity that exerts an effect weight loss of crop is influenced by storage temperature, leak state, and volume of product. When weight loss is predicted, different conditions of these factors are derived. In case of CA storage, ways of forecasting the weight loss become easier compared to cold storage due to sealed storage with external environment during storage period. In this study, apples were stored in purge-type CA storage and weight loss has been predicted by using operating characteristics and environmental conditions. As a result, humidity variation in the storage fluctuates with the operation of the unit-cooler. Furthermore, unit-cooler operation factor is influenced by outside temperature and respiration heat. Prediction value of weight loss according to temperature and humidity has been most accurately predicted. Prediction value through defrosting water measured shows unit-cooler work quality. K-value needs verification to calculate the VPD method.

Investigation of PCT Behavior in IBLOCA Counterpart Tests between the ATLAS and LSTF Facilities (중형냉각재상실사고의 PCT에 대한 ATLAS와 LSTF 장치의 대응 실험 검토)

  • A comparison of CL 13% and 17% IBLOCA counterpart tests(CPTs) between the ATLAS and LSTF facilities was carried out and the behavior of peak cladding temperatures(PCTs) and related thermal hydraulic phenomena were investigated and discussed. There appeared quite a big difference in PCT behavior between the two CPTs and a further comparison of reactor coolant system design between the two facilities was performed. As a result, there was a difference in fuel alignment plate (FAP) design, e.g., one FAP in ATLAS, a combination of upper core plate and upper end box in LSTF, respectively. The FAP design mainly affects the reflux condensate behavior in IBLOCA tests and any difference in FAP design can be a possible reason for different PCT behavior between the two facilities. It should be a further study to find the reason of different PCT behvior between the two facilites.

Determination of volatile and residual iodine during the dissolution of spent nuclear fuel (사용 후 핵연료 용해 중 휘발 및 잔류 요오드 분석)

  • The determination of iodine in the spent nuclear fuel and the volatile behavior during its acid dissolution have been studied by NAA(neutron activation analysis) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). Simulated spent fuels (SIMFUELs) were dissolved in $HNO_3$(1+1) at $90^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours. The iodine remained in a dissolver solution after dissolution, and that condensed in dissolution apparatus and trapped in the adsorbent by volatilization during the dissolution were determined, respectively. The condensed iodine was recovered by the redistillation with $HNO_3$(1+1) after transfer of the dissolver solution. The iodines in the dissolver and redistilled solution were separated by solvent extraction followed by ion exchange or precipitation method and determined by RNAA (radiochemical neutron activation analysis). The ion exchange column and filtration kit used for the isolation of iodine, which were prepared with a polyethylene tube, were used as an insert in the pneumatic tube for neutron irradiation. The iodine volatilized during the dissolution of SIMFUELs was collected in a trapping tube containing Ag-silica gel (Ag-impregnated silica gel) adsorbent, and the distribution of iodine trapped in the adsorbents were determined by EPMA. The adsorbing characteristics shown with the SIMFUELs were compared with those shown with a real spent fuel from the nuclear power plant.

Development of a Drain-Type Electronic Dehumidifier Using Thermoelectric Element (열전소자를 이용한 배수형 전자제습기 개발)

  • In this study, the Peltier effect was applied to eliminate moistures in the air enclosed by a cabinet. We have developed the new electronic dehumidifier which has a new function of automatically evaporating the condensed water inner cabinet into the outside air. To obtain this function, the processes of dehumidification is that it condensed the moistures on the cold side heat sink and drained it into the hot side heat sink by the both gravitational and capillary forces and the droplets on the hot side heat sink surface was evaporated into the air outside the cabinet by the heat conducted through the hot side heat sink surface and the forced heat convection through the fan for cooling hot side heat sink. Compared to existing electronic dehumidifiers, this manufactured one showed a good performance that the electric power consumption for the same dehumidifying quantity was reduced by 50% compared with that of existing ones.

  • The ultrastructures of germinal cells of male marsh clam, Corbicujar lena were studied. The mature sperm was primitive type, consisting of head, middle piece and tail. The mature sperm was whip-shaped and its head was divided into two parts; the acrosomal part shaped long hollow cone about $3{\mu}m$ in length and the sperm nuclear part shaped a long stick about $9\;{\mu}m$ in length. The posterior part of the sperm nuclear projected to centriole, The middle piece of the sperm-nuclear had four mitochondria and two centrioles. The sperm tail part had the 9+2 microtubular arrangement known as a typical pattern, During spermiogenesis, chromatin within sperm nuclear became fiberic materials by condensation.

크라이오 펌프용 2단 GM형 맥동관 냉동기 개발

  • 고도의 진공 환경을 요구하는 반도체 생산 라인에 적용되는 고진공 펌프는 주로 복합 분자펌프와 크라이오 펌프가 사용되고 있다. 이 중 크라이오 펌프는 극저온으로 냉각되는 냉각판에 기체 분자를 응축 또는 흡착시켜 기체를 제거하는 방식으로 복합 분자 펌프로 무게가 가볍고 증발 온도가 낮은 네온, 수소, 헬륨 기체 제거에 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 상용화된 크라이오 펌프에 적용되는 GM 극저온 냉동기를 대체하기 위한 2단 GM형 맥동관 냉동기를 개발하여 기초 성능 시험을 수행하였다. 1단과 2단 모두 U-자형 형상으로 제작되었으며, 압력과 질량 유동 사이의 위상 조절을 위하여 오리피스 밸브와 이중 유입 밸브를 사용하였다. 개발된 맥동관 냉동기의 냉각 성능 목표는 1단(80 K)과 2단(20 K)에서 각각 45 W와 5 W이다. 기초 시험에서는 위상 조절용 밸브들의 개도와 작동 조건에 대한 냉각 특성과 부하 특성 시험을 수행하였다. 특히, 본 연구에서는 로터리 밸브 및 위상 조절 기구의 배치로 인해 고온부 형상이 복잡한 맥동관 냉동기를 크라이오 펌프로의 적용 편의성을 위하여 고온부 외형 구조를 단순화하였으며, 개발된 맥동관 냉동기와 기존에 크라이오 펌프에 적용되는 GM 극저온 냉동기를 비교, 고찰하였다.
