Estimation of Total Acoustic Radiation Power of Submerged Circular Cylindrical Structure Using Surface Vibration Velocity (접수 원통형 구조물의 표면 진동속도를 이용한 총 방사음향파워 계산)

  • Most naval underwater weapon system can be simplified to a circular cylindrical structure which has vibrating machineries inside. In order to predict efficiently the total acoustic radiation power of cylindrical structure, surface velocity is measured and radiation efficiency of surface element is calculated. Then, they are substituted to the surface pressure in the simplified Helmholtz integral equation which assumes acoustic far-field and plane-wave approximation at the surface. Surface velocity and total acoustic radiation power for a submerged cylinder are measured in water-tank. In this example, it is found that total acoustic power output obtained from the prediction is in good agreement with that of measurement in mid-high frequency range.

  • Precise highway traffic noise simulation and reduction require the accurate data for sound power levels omitted by vehicles, varied to road surface, traffic speed, vehicle types and makers, different from countries to countries. In this study, we have elaboratively measured Korea highway traffic noise and parameters affecting noise levels at the nearside carriageway edge. From numerical simulation using the measured results for highway traffic noise, we propose not only two correction factors to enhance the accuracy of Korea highway traffic sound power estimation using ASJ Model-1998 but also its typical power spectrum according to road surface type. The measured and predicted highway traffic noise levels using the proposed sound power show little difference within 1 dB.

  • The noise generated from a treadband mechanism of a tire has been the subject of this research. In particular, the treadband has been treated as an infinite tensioned beam resting on an elastic foundation which includes damping. The main objective is to predict the sound power generated from a system mentioned above by locating harmonic point forces representing the excitation of treadband at the contact patch. It is possible to predict the sound power radiated from this structure by using wavenumber transformation techniques. In order to find out the minimum radiated sound power, All parameters were varied. Thus, this model can be used as a tire design guide for selecting parameters which produces the minimum noise radiation.

  • A polarized mode convertible, wavelength tunable optical filters with acoustic barriers and acousto-optic effect have been produced in LiNb03 substrate utilizing the Ti double diffusion technique. Polarization conversion in excess of 81 % and a spectral width of -200 kHz (-1.83 nm) were achieved at a wavelength of 1551.6 nm and RF frequencies of 173.07 kHz and 173.05 kHz for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (lM) input polarizations, respectively. The electrical driving power was 10.97 mW and reduced to about 10% of one for an optical filter without an acoustic barrier. A linear tuning rate of 8.2 nmlMHz and sidelobe intensity of -4 dB was demonstrated. rated.

  • Sound radiated from a structure in vibration is an important physical characteristic to evaluate vibro-acoustic problem. Although sound radiation power can be typically obtained by intensity measurement, long measuring time and strict measuring condition remain difficult. As an alternative method, simulation-based estimation can be taken into account and its accuracy is known to be acceptable. However, difficulty still lies in that specialized softwares may be necessary to obtain sound radiation power and radiation efficiency. In this context, this study suggests two methods using an ordinary FE method to calculate sound radiation power. They are well-known reciprocity technique and p-p method, which are basically test methods. It is shown that either method can practically estimate sound radiation in the frame of conventional Finite Element Method (FEM). The methods and their corresponding limit are discussed with some results.

  • Since power spectrum has no information about the phase of a signal, the power spectral analysis technique can not be used to interpret the phase coherency of the signal produced by some nonlinear process. In this case, third-order spectrum, the so called bispectrum, is very useful in analyzing such signals. some typical computer simulation results are shown in order to represent the usefulness of the bispectrum, and the bispectra of the measured acoustic signals of three vehicles are shown in order to use to identify the sources of those signals.

  • In the case of designing an acoustic transducer for high power application, we usually aim to transfer the source electric energy to the output acoustic energy as large as possible. For this purpose, we should match the impedance of the power amplifier to the impedance combined with the acoustic transducer impedance and the radiation impedance. Especially if we have electrical source with almost zero impedance, we need improve the power factor of the acoustic transducer in the load. In this paper, we propose a broad band impedance matching method by the improvement of power factor, which applies ABCD matrix.
