  • Recently, speaker localizing estimation technique has been rising in teleconference systems. In this paper, it was described to be able to enhance the speech quality through microphone array, and received the only signal of speaker. Unfortunately, as it using estimated the signal in advance, it is not matched in a real acoustic environment so it has poor performance. In this paper is proposed for Adaptive Matched Filter Microphone Array that estimated acoustic room environment from the received the signal and study of the efficiency through simulations.

  • In this paper, performance of COFDM (Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) which is OFDM with a forward error correction code, is studied in frequency selective fading underwater acoustic communication channel. The OFDM is a multiplexing technique resistant to frequency selective multipath channel. In OFDM, a broadband information signal is transformed into several narrow band signals and transmits narrow band signals whose bandwidths are less than the channel coherence bandwidth. However, its performance is degraded in a specific narrow band signal due to its deep fading by multipath. To mitigate this degradation, COFDM which is OFDM with convolution code as a forward error correction code, is evaluated. The performance of COFDM is found to be better than that of OFDM in multipath channel.

  • UAComm (Underwater Acoustic Communication) is an active research area, and many experiment has been performed to develop UAComm system. In this paper, we investigate the possibility of modifying and applying VirTEX (Virtual Time series EXperiment) to medium long range MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) UAComm of about 20 km range for the analysis and performance prediction of UAComm system. Since VirTEX is a time-domain simulator, the generated time series can be used in HILS (Hardware In the Loop Simulation) to develop UAComm system. The developed package is verified through comparing with the sea-going FAF05 (Focused Acoustic Field 2005) experimental data. The developed simulator can be used to predict the performance of UAComm system, and even replace the expensive sea-going experiment.

  • Such as disaster rescue in deep water, undersea exploration and monitering for environmental pollution, many applications require the acoustic communication for high data rate over underwater acoustic channel. As underwater channel is very complex and is time-varying, conventional single carrier communication has good performance. In this paper, An adaptive OFDM system is analyzed for high data rate and reliability and rubust service over UWA channels. Through the adaptive system, we show threshold switching for an adaptive algorithm.

  • This paper aims to compare the performance of speech data classification into two groups, adult and elderly, based on the acoustic and linguistic characteristics that change due to aging, such as changes in respiratory patterns, phonation, pitch, frequency, and language expression ability. For acoustic features we used attributes related to the frequency, amplitude, and spectrum of speech voices. As for linguistic features, we extracted hidden state vector representations containing contextual information from the transcription of speech utterances using KoBERT, a Korean pre-trained language model that has shown excellent performance in natural language processing tasks. The classification performance of each model trained based on acoustic and linguistic features was evaluated, and the F1 scores of each model for the two classes, adult and elderly, were examined after address the class imbalance problem by down-sampling. The experimental results showed that using linguistic features provided better performance for classifying adult and elderly than using acoustic features, and even when the class proportions were equal, the classification performance for adult was higher than that for elderly.
