  • This study explored the mechanism by which Trot gained a superior position in the broadcasting contents market after the TV Chosun audition program was broadcast. We analyzed the narrative structure of the program to determine what differentiation and popularization strategy the trot audition program took from the existing audition program, and analyzed in-depth interviews with music experts and interviews with the production team. appealed to viewers with a strategy that reversed the success strategy of existing audition programs. First, the strong/non-competent participants did not compete with each other, but rather the strong/skilled players competed against each other. This trot audition set the singing ability as a new 'discourse on sincerity'. Second, we broke away from the 'demon editing', which was considered essential for audition programs, took a strategy of excluding villains. Third, we broke the practice of audition programs that were supposed to show expertise in specific genres, such as idol music, hip-hop, and bands, and combined trot with various genres. Fourth, unlike previous audition programs that mainly targeted specific generations or genders, the strategy was to expand the audience by targeting various age groups. Fifth, it has formed a middle-aged fandom with a 'subtitle strategy' that uses subtitles well to arouse viewers' interest and help empathize.

  • Classification method used in this paper is applied for the first time to Korean traditional music. Among the frequency distribution vectors, average peak value is suggested and proved effective comparing to previous classification success rate. Mean, variance, spectral centroid, average peak value and ZCR are used to classify Korean traditional musical instruments. To achieve Korean traditional instruments automatic classification, Spectral analysis is used. For the spectral domain, Various functions are introduced to extract features from the data files. k-NN classification algorithm is applied to experiments. Taegum, gayagum and violin are classified in accuracy of 94.44% which is higher than previous success rate 87%.

  • This thesis examines the difficulties of utilizing the narrative and music of Pansori: 판소리 in Changguk: 창극. For this examination, I consider that the reason for the difficulty of making Changguk is the difference between Pansori and Changguk as the genres. Most of the Changguk based on the traditional five Pansori works perform the narration and songs of Pansori literally. However, the original narrative of Pansori has a distinctive dual structure since the formation of its first and second half is created separately. As the drama genre visualizes the story and emphasizes the consistency of action, unlike Pansori, the duality of the original narrative can be seen as the inconsistency of the action. In addition, since the sounds of the original Pansori are rather explanatory than dramatic even in the climax scenes of Jeokbyeok battlefields, it is difficult to produce dramatic scenes in Changguk. The voices of the military, not in the original works, play important roles in revealing the hidden theme effectively in Changguk. However It is impossible to relocate the original text of Pansori into Changguk, as even the voices of the military lack verisimilitude in terms of narrative. Changguk can only be developed as its own work by actively researching and dismantling Pansori .

Moreover, extant research on Hallyu has focused on any single respective genre, mostly on East-Asian countries, or studied from Korea-centered perspective. This study examined the social capital effect of Korean Wave in users' own counties, especially in non-English European societies. Survey analysis results reveal that both narrative and non-narrative contents in Hallyu had negative impact on social trust and trust toward people of their own country, whereas positive effect on trust toward Koreans. In contrast, K-pop Hallyu showed positive effect on all types of social trust toward their own country and Koreans, as well as on social participation and bridging/bonding social networks.

  • This study aims to identify the multidimensional variables and sub-variables and study their relative weight in music recommender systems when maximizing the rating function R. To undertake the task, a optimization formula and variables for a research model were derived from the review of prior works on recommender systems, which were then used to establish the research model for an empirical test. With the research model and the actual log data of real customers obtained from an on line music provider in Korea, multiple regression analysis was conducted to induce the optimal correlation of variables in the multidimensional model. The results showed that the correlation value against the rating function R for Items was highest, followed by Social Relations, Users and Contexts. Among sub-variables, popular music from Social Relations, genre, latest music and favourite artist from Items were high in the correlation with the rating function R. Meantime, the derived multidimensional recommender systems revealed that in a comparative analysis, it outperformed two dimensions(Users, Items) and three dimensions(Users, Items and Contexts, or Users, items and Social Relations) based recommender systems in terms of adjusted $R^2$ and the correlation of all variables against the values of the rating function R.

  • This study develops textile pattern design ideas created through the visualization of music. Methods of auditory and synesthesia were employed to analyze various attributes of popular music genres and appoint language image, shape image, and color image to obtain their interrelationships. This study provides data that can be used to express emotional images on textile print pattern designs. This research used different genres of popular music as stimuli. The language image was extracted and introduced to the overall color scheme; in addition, the color image was verified. The analysis of the color image was executed by applying it with the color set image scale of I.R.I colors. Then, the color image of the target genre of popular music was examined and analyzed through a color tone system. The preference in shape image was realized through visual images based on basic principles of points, lines, and sides composition; subsequently, an analysis of the emotional image of popular music followed. An examination of the emotional images of different popular music genres have led to the discovery that language image, color image, and shape image all share a common emotional image. There was also a realization that similarity and interrelationship exists in language, color, and shape images experienced by listening to popular music.

  • With the development of the Internet and smartphones, digital sound sources are easily accessible, and accordingly, interest in music search and recommendation is increasing. As a method of recommending music, research using melodies such as pitch, tempo, and beat to classify genres or emotions is being conducted. However, since lyrics are becoming one of the means of expressing human emotions in music, the role of the lyrics is increasing, so a study of emotion classification based on lyrics is needed. Therefore, in this thesis, we analyze the emotions of the farewell lyrics in order to subdivide the farewell emotions based on the lyrics. After constructing an emotion dictionary by vectoriziong the similarity between words appearing in the parting lyrics through Word2Vec learning, we propose a method of classifying parting lyrics emotions using Word2Vec and LSTM, which classify lyrics by similar emotions by learning lyrics using LSTM.
