Shaping Scheme Using UPC with LB and TJW in ATM Networks (ATM 망에서 LB와 TJW UPC를 이용한 트래픽 쉐이핑)

  • Congestion may take place in the ATM network because of high-speed cell transmission features, and cell delay and loss also can be caused by unexpected traffic variation. Thus, traffic control mechanisms are needed. One of them to decrease congestion is the Cell shaping. This paper proposes a hybrid type cell shaper composed of a Leaky Bucket with token pool, Tn with time window, and a spacing control buffer. The simulator BONeS with the ON/OFF traffic source model evaluates the performance of the proposed cell shaping method. Simulation results show that the cell shaping concerning the respective source traffics is adapted to and then controlled on the mean bit rate.

Zone-based Power Control Mechanism of CDMA Forward Link for High-speed Wireless Data Services (고속 무선 데이터 서비스를 위한 CDMA 순방향 링크에서의 Zone-based 전력제어 방식)

  • In this paper, we analyze the pros and cons of the fast power control to the forward link in the environments where mixed traffics of voice and data produce the transmitted/received power difference. We propose the Zone-based power control scheme that can improve the performance of the fast power control scheme in the viewpoint of the resource allocation. The proposed scheme is a mechanism that controls both the power and rate of non-realtime data traffics according to location distribution of the mobile stations. The scheme is based on the conventional fast power control scheme in the CDMA systems, and it adaptively controls the transmission rate of each data traffic. Zone-based rate control of data call brings about somewhat power margin to the call. As a result, the proposed scheme saves the power consumption of portables and reduces the amount of interference. With the proposed scheme, not only be extended the service coverage of high-rate traffic to the entire cell service coverage, but also the QoS of low-rate traffic can keep going through the service time, especially, in the situation that the amount of incoming interference is much larger. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme yields a improved performance compared with the conventional scheme in terms of the power consumption and traffic throughput of portables, especially, with the increasing number of high-rate data traffics.

  • In 2005, there was a partial revision of the Act on the Promotion of Education for the Handicapped people, so that students with health impairments would be able to receive special education support. Since the amendment of the bill, to support them classified into weak people in education, education support systems have been proposed and settled so that they may receive the support for free. According to the pre-study, after the amendment of this bill, there has been many studies on the form of educational service to support them, and recently, there have been a lot of researches to investigate their satisfaction with the current services and draw its problems. And yet these studies have been carried out by the preceeding researchers at the drawing of problems, but have a limitation to present fundamental countermeasures to the problems. Therefore, this study attempted to understand the meaning of health impairment through the pre-study and investigate the forms of the services currently supporting them and analyze the problem of each service. In addition, to solve the identified problems, a new support system was proposed. In order to confirm the performance of the system, we design the user satisfaction survey composed of a Likert 5-point scale per each question, and to make the task, comparing stories and clapping for increasing quality of their subjective evaluation about the image and voice transmission when the user uses it. As a result, in the overall evaluation of the robot system, the average score of each question was recorded to 4.31 points, and through the two tasks, it was found that there were effective data transmission of image and voice.

Performance Analysis of VSG-CDMA Supporting Multi-Rate Date Service in the Reverse Link (다중 전송률을 지원하는 VSG-CDMA 역방향 링크 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, the capacity of VSG-CDMA system supporting multi-media service in the reverse link is analyzed by considering the two models according to the power control and user distribution. In analysis model I, assuming perfect power control and uniform distribution of users, the equation of blocking probability is calculated and the maximum number of voice and data user is derived in accordance with 1 % blocking probability. In analysis model II, it is analyzed by assuming power control error and non-uniform distribution of users. The result of analysis model I means the upper bound of system capacity in the 5 MHz wideband VSG-CDMA system, and the result of analysis model II shows the lower bound of system capacity. Also, the improved plan of performance for VSG-CDMA system is suggested by the analyzed result according to data activity and the value of $E_b/N_o$ in model II.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel method of design and implementation for the multimedia monitoring system using Web Camera. Recently WebCam is variously applied to many different areas and implemented as an improved performance using convenient functions of Web in this Internet era. Multimedia moving pictures has been popularly used in a variety of ways in different areas of monitoring systems in order to enhance the performance and the service with their data compression capability and the speed of the communication network these days. The design method of WebCam system presented in this paper might offer not only a convenient function of the monitoring system but great application capabilities. It can be used for a real time application of the multimedia picture and audio transmission so that the monitoring system can manage the security information in the sense for the reality. Tn addition, the monitoring system may be used as an inreal-time application using data storage and retrieval features of the Web. We offer both functions of monitoring in this structured form of implemented system.

A Protocol Compression Scheme for Improving Call Processing of Push-To-Talk Service over IMS (IMS망에서 PTT서비스의 통화 처리 성능 향상을 위한 프로토콜 압축 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a protocol compression scheme for enhancing the performance of call processing of PTT(Push-to-Talk) which is one of the important services in IMS(IP Multimedia Subsystem), a next generation integrated wired/wireless packet communication network. To service the PTT on an IMS network, it should use the same call setup procedure as legacy Mobile and TRS(Trunked Radio System) networks and have a fast call setup time and enough communication bandwidth because a number of terminals should be able to exchange same data in real time. The proposed A+SigComp scheme reduces the initial call setup delay of SIP by about 10%, which is used by PTT service for call setup. In addition, the A+ROHC scheme is proposed to compress the header of RTP packets transferred during PTT voice transmission and, as a result, about 5% of increase in communication efficiency is observed.

  • Digital signal processing technique is applied in wide fields such as speech processing, image processing and spectrum analysis. Therefore, in order to do frequency selective operation digital filter is used in stead of analog filter and sharp filter characteristics can be implemented. Since finite impulse response (FIR) digital filter as nonrecursive type represents linear phase response characteristics and is always stable and is used in fields regarding wave information importantly such as data transmission. And due to frequency characteristics, in order to remove the Gibbs phenomenon generating around a discontinuous point, filter is designed through window function method. Therefore, in this paper to improve performance of FIR digital filter, a modified window function was applied. And the proposed method was compared with conventional methods using peak side-lobe and transition properties in simulations.

  • Recent advancement in RF technology and wireless communications has enabled the development of noble networks. Bluetooth that can be used in various application field is a kind of WPAN(Wireless Personal Area Network) standard that is widely known. Bluetooth enables voice and data applications to operate simultaneously. Various applications have been implemented based on standard Profiles. In this paper, we describes the development of Biuetooth network AP(Access Point) system for network connection of Bluetooth devices. Unlike headset, mouse, and keyboard, the access point should have capability to support multiple connection and stabilized network throughput. We have designed and developed the hardware system, core stack and profiles on embedded system to comply with standard specification. Our system showed compatibility and good protocol performance through testing with lots of products that is available in market.

An Enhanced DAP-NAD Scheme for Multi-Hop Transmission in Combat Net Radio Networks (전투 무선망에서 다중 홉 전송을 위한 향상된 DAP-NAD 기법)

  • Recently, many countries have been developing new protocols to improve the performance of tactical ad hoc networks for implementing NCW (Network Centric Warfare). Combat net radio (CNR) networks are the most important communication infra for the ground forces such as infantry of Army. U.S. Army had developed MIL-STD-188-220D that is the Interoperability Standard for DMTDs (Digital Messages Transfer Device Subsystems) for voice and data communication in CNR. MIL-STD-188-220D is a candidate for MAC protocol of TMMR which is next radio and has a few constraints to used in TMMR. NAD (Network Access Delay) defined in MIL-STD-188-220D needs time synchronization to avoid collision. However, it is difficult for time synchronization to fit in multi-hop environment. We suggest the enhanced DAP (Deterministic Adaptable Priority)-NAD to prevent conflicts and decrease delays in multi-hop CNR. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the performance in multi-hop CNR networks.

Design and Implementation of Economical Security Monitoring System (경제적인 보안 모니터링 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • DVR is widely used in the security monitoring system because it has excellent performance compared with VCR. In this paper, the new DVR interfaces and repeaters enhancing the performance of the existing DVR have been designed and implemented, which enables a large-scaled security monitoring system to be built economically. A repeater in this paper connects 8 monitoring terminals to 2 channels of DVR and a DVR interface manages 16 repeaters to be able to accommodate 128 monitoring terminals. Eventually, the implemented system has a quadruple scalability compared to the existing systems and can reduce the installation cost substantially by using cost-effective UTP cables instead of coaxial cables. And the system could be effectively used in various environments and conditions because various functions such as video transmission, audio communication, emergency call, and RFID card are integrated into the system.
