  • This study aims to investigate the awareness, nursing needs, and nursing satisfaction of conscious sedation, and their relationships in the guardians of hospitalized children receiving conscious sedation. Data were collected from 120 guardians of children who were admitted to the pediatric ward of University Hospital C in D city from July 6 to October 6, 2016 and received conscious sedation as a pretreatment for diagnostic tests. The result showed that the guardians' awareness was relatively low (2.49±0.83) and nursing needs (4.53±0.40) was found to be significantly higher than nursing satisfaction (3.81±0.56)(p<.001). Awareness showed a significant positive correlation with nursing satisfaction (r=.18, p=.048) and there was a significant positive correlation between nursing needs and satisfaction (r=.20, p=.033). This result suggested that in order to improve the nursing satisfaction of the guardians, it is necessary to understand the awareness and nursing needs of the guardians on conscious sedation. In addition, the development of customized nursing intervention should be carried out based on the awareness and nursing needs.

  • The purpose of this study is to find relationships between the moral distress of nursing college students and career maturity, and between the moral distress of them and career preparation behavior by using a descriptive correlation methodology. Analysis is done using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Multiple regression with IBM SPSS WIN/22.0. According to the general characteristics, the there is a significant difference in the subjects with an outgoing personality (F=-2.82, p=.001), who suffered from moral distress at an older age (F=.4.85, p=.029). There is a significant difference in career maturity among subjects with an extroverted personality (F=3.63, p=.001). The average score of the subjects' moral distress is 72.51±53.75, and by sub-area, futile care was the highest with 23.36±19.04, and the lowest with 7.61±8.56 in physician practice. The average of career maturity was 3.74(±.56), and by sub-area, career attitude was the highest with 3.98±.54, and the lowest with 3.61±.43 in professionalism. The average of career preparation behavior was 2.67(±.60). In this study, it was confirmed that the moral stress of nursing students is a factor affecting career maturity (r=-.510, p=.000) and career preparation behavior (r=-.353, p=.001). Therefore, It can be seen that it is necessary to develop an intervention program that can positively enhance the career maturity and career preparation behavior of nursing students through intervention for the moral anguish experienced by nursing students.

  • Objective : Smoking can increase the risk of secondary conditions for people with disabilities, which can in turn counteract primary disorders and exacerbate existing disorders. More active interventions for smoking cessation are necessary for people with disabilities because the physical condition of people with disabilities is more vulnerable, and risk factors such as smoking, drinking, obesity, and stress can have a decisive influence on people with disabilities compared to non-disabled people. Methods : In this study, the subjects who participated in National Health and Nutrition Survey of 2013 were those aged over 19 and smoker. The final 299 people with disability and 4,260 people without disability were analyzed. Results : Current smoking rate was 21.5% of non-disabled people and 21.4% of disabled people respectively. Factors influencing the current smoking rate of the disabled people were analyzed by type of household, economic status, home ownership, drinking, binge drinking, activity limit. Conclusions : In order to reduce socioeconomic inequalities of smoking and to actively intervene with the disabled, there need a new approach strategy focusing on people with disabilities.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the predictors of self-compassion correlated to mental health, and to suggest integrated self-compassion training and mental health practice plans for social welfare college students. Although self-compassion has been shown to be an important predictor in maintaining personal mental health, research on practical knowledge to improve level of self-compassion is limited. Therefore, there is a need to explore the relationship between predictors related to self-compassion for suggesting alternative interventions. This study used resilience, mental health well-being, and engagement scales whose relationships have been explored in self-compassion studies. Data was collected for 2021-2022 from third-year or higher social welfare college students in the metropolitan area. A total of 202 cases were analyzed, and correlation and regression analysis were applied using SPSS. Self-compassion was positively correlated with resilience, mental health well-being, and engagement. Resilience and mental health well-being were identified as important predictors of self-compassion. Unlike self-compassion, resilience and mental health well-being are familiar with social welfare students and educators, and existing resilience training and well-being education would be integrated to improve self-compassion capability.
