  • This study is an attempt to connect television drama M, which deals with abortion issues, with theoretical focus such as materiality, relativity, and agency, to understand diffractively as an cartography of agential reality. According to Karen Barard's Agential Realism, Television drama M is a sociocultural phenomenon produced by the agential intra-actions of material-discursive apparatuses such as medical technology, ghost stories and legends, and male-affect. The 1990s repeatedly revealed "hate" through apparatuses such as technology, discourse, and affect, which are directed at women's gendered bodies. The material -discursive practice of plastic surgery and abortion proves that the agential reality surrounding the body is closely intertwined with medical technology, as well as with the genderized hate. Another related material-discursive phenomenon is rediscovery of the legend and fad of the ghost story, which is also produced from the hate of the denaturalized body, which is once again expanded and reproduced. Appearing in this environment of affect, M enacts diffraction, which is based on backlash, lacking posthuman implications for the materialization of the techno-body. M puts humanistic assumptions about "Man" as a universal definition, historically framed and defined in context. But it is not universal and it is gendered. The current time when the political turmoil surrounding medical technology, discourse, and bodily matters is violently intra-acted is the time to carefully account and respond to the alternative definitions of human beings that M has rejected.

  • Language is an important medium for communication among the members of society and a mirror that reflects society as a whole. As society and culture change and develop over centuries, language follows suit. To keep up with the changes in the new era and express new concepts, countless new neologisms continue to appear. Recently, the use of neologisms is getting increasingly focused on social networking service and other Internet communication sites, which then spread rapidly through various media. If you look at the popular neologisms on the Internet, it implicitly reflects conflicts between the eras and the generations, people's psychology and ideology, and social phenomena such as culture. The function of neologisms is not solely for the entertainment element of communication but also for criticizing social problems and their vital use as a search keyword. This study focuses on the meaning and importance of gathering information and analyzing records about neologisms that reflect the social phenomenon in a certain period, and this will be labeled as "neologism archiving." This study proposes a direction for the construction of a neologism archive by comparing the currently existing neologism archiving system with the existing dictionary concept. In addition, this study serves as a reminder of the convenience and the contemporary social phenomena, such as smooth communication between generations, and the dissemination of inequality of information sharing. Lastly, this study aims to support experts with their research on neologisms for the social phenomenon.

On that account, it raised questions about the idea that social well-being can be achieved only materialistic consumption and its cultural symbolism can lead to incongruity in social hierarchy and then dysfunctions in a counter way. On the other hand, the value of well-being can be achieved by many different ways and within one's limited budget as well as material consumption. This paper provides basic information about the development of essential wellbeing products and strategies for building market segmentation in the industry. The research also provides policy makers with the direction of welfare policy in our society to establish a foundation of creating conditions for true well being. This paper will be helpful in fulfilling well-being in our whole society.

  • The purpose of this study was to first look at genderless concepts that are different from Unix, and by grasping the trend of genderless clothes in modern fashion and examining their characteristics, we looked at genderless trends and characteristics in modern fashion. To this end, this study conducted a theoretical review and collection case analysis through domestic and foreign literature and fashion websites. Based on this, the characteristics of genderless clothes expressed in the collection were derived by analyzing designs with strong genderless tendencies in modern collections. As a result of the study, genderless fashion in modern collections could be derived from three visible results: innovation, rebellion, and future-oriented. In addition, modern genderless fashion contains various needs for mental gender and physiological gender, not simply physiological gender, and this is seen by interacting with the current social phenomenon in which gender distinction becomes ambiguous. Understanding and studying the genderless phenomenon, which has become a cultural phenomenon and popularity, hopes that many follow-up studies related to genderless clothes will be conducted in the future.

  • Purpose : Pertussis is a highly communicable infectious disease in children with high mortality, especially in young infants. The incidence of pertussis in South Korea has decreased to about 10 cases a year in late '90s. Doubting previously reported incidences of pertussis, we designed this study to establish exact epidemiology and a diagnostic basis of pertussis. Methods : From Mar. 2000 to Mar. 2001, polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and cultures of nasopharyngeal aspirates were taken from 49 patients who were clinically suspected of pertussis in Kangdong Sacred Heart Hospital. Results : Among 49 patients suspected of pertussis, 10 cases showed positive results by PCR method. Four out of those 10 cases were positive in culture. The peak outbreak was noticed in the spring(Mar.-May) and the autumn(Sep.-Nov.). The mean age of the patients was 3.6 months. Eight of the 10 cases which were PCR positive results proved not to be immunized against pertussis. Conclusion : Most of the pertussis patients in our study were diagnosed as bronchiolitis, pneumonia or bronchitis at the beginning of the disease and only a few patients showed typical clinical manifestations of pertussis, including whooping. When the above results are taken together, we suggest the possibility that the actual prevalence of pertussis in South Korea might be higher than that of previous reports. The importance of pertussis screen tests should be emphasized in children with severe coughs.

  • Recent discussions regarding smart tourism have gained significant momentum in tourism policy and industry; however, knowledge production in this research area remains fragmented and sporadic. This study aims to analyze trends in smart tourism research published in domestic KCI journals up to the end of July 2024 through a systematic literature review, proposing future research tasks to foster academic development. The analysis addresses both the quantitative and qualitative dimensions of smart tourism research, particularly focusing on tourism journals where the terms and concepts are prominent in policy and industry contexts, while also diagnosing the related research paradigms. The findings indicate that the term "smart tourism" began to prominently appear in research titles, topics, keywords, and abstracts as early as 2014. Among the 126 studies analyzed, research related to tourism constituted the largest share, accounting for 30.2%. However, due to the interdisciplinary nature of smart tourism, research has also emerged from various academic fields, including business studies, design, information communication, and computer science. Research on smart tourism has appeared in tourism journals since 2015, predominantly adopting a positivist research paradigm with an emphasis on quantitative methodologies that often utilize surveys. Additionally, the study reveals a pre-paradigm stage within smart tourism research, characterized by insufficient comprehensive conceptual and theoretical development. This stage has also restricted discussions on various ontological, epistemological, methodological, and interpretive issues. The theories mainly employed draw from established behavioral models, such as the Technology Acceptance Model, the Extended Technology Acceptance Model, and the Technology Readiness Model. Based on these findings, the study suggests future research directions for tourism scholars to determine whether smart tourism will solidify as a sustainable research topic or merely be regarded as a transient trend within tourism studies over the next decade.
