Numerical Analysis for Temperature Distribution and Thermal Stresses in a Turbocharged Large CNG Engine Piston (터보과급 대형 CNG기관 피스톤의 온도분포와 열응력 해석)

  • The purpose of this paper is to establish a standard finite element analysis model of a piston by carrying out three dimensional modeling of a series six-cylindered CNG engine's piston to forecast temperature distribution at stationary state and the following thermal stress and variation, and cross checking it with existing analysis. Also, in order to evaluate the affects of the cooling system to the piston's heat load, the paper analyzed piston's temperature and thermal stress distribution according to the cooling water temperature changes and the following variations. As a result, the maximum temperature was found at the center of the crown in the piston and the maximum thermal stress occurred from the lower part of the piston.

  • 본 논문에서는 실용적이며 신뢰성 있는 고전압 대용량 유도전동기 구동용 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터를 개발하여 산업 현장에 적용한 내용을 소개하였다. 실용적인 PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)과 PEBB (Power Electronics Building Blocks)에 기초한 신뢰성 있는 분산 제어를 적용하였으며, H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터를 이용한 유도 전동기 벡터 제어시의 위상지연을 보상하여 제어 성능을 향상시켰다. 또한, Power Cell 고장 발생시 시스템을 정지하지 않으면서 효율적 운전을 가능하게 하는 3상 불평형 제어를 이용하여 잉여성을 확보하였다. 다양한 전압과 용량의 H-브릿지 멀티레벨 인버터를 설계 및 제작하여 각종 부하 실험, 산업 현장 적용을 통해 적용된 방법의 타당성과 실용성을 입증하였다. 또한 실제 제품 설계, 생산, 판매, 유지 보수 과정을 통해 설계의 유연성, 생산의 효율성, 유지 보수의 편리함, 그리고 사용자 요구에 대한 대응성이 우수함을 확인하였다.

  • Pressure trasients must deal with safety problem of system. For identification of physical situation that can and method of limiting surges are essential consideration in sucessful design. The finite difference equation by method of characteristics are derived from the governing equation of unsteady flow in a pipe, and solved by using boundary condition derived. A computer program which can simulate general hydraulic system is developed by using finite difference equations and boundary conditions derived. The sumulated resulted by developed computer program are in fair agreement with experiment result.

  • Nowdays the mobile traffic have been greatly increasing. This traffic increment has been caused the lack of frequency. To solve this problem, many study to improve the frequency efficiency in the field of mobile communication has been performed in a variety angle. However this kind of study was focused to 1:1 traffic. This paper propose the allocation scheme of the receiving channel in 1:N group traffic. This method apply to the TRS(Trunk Radio System) that use for the emergency disaster telecommunications. The result of the study show the performance improvement in the call loss ratio and load distribution in the group channel.

Stability and Sensitivity Analysis of Stream Water Quality System Model (하천 수질모형 시스템의 안정성 및 민감도 분석)

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the following ; (1) how the stability and sensitivity of a given stream water quality model can be analyzed theoretically by means of the stability theory and the sensitivity theory, and (2) point out that the results of this study prove that numerical analysis for the given stream water quality model is reliable, and the model is sensitive for the variations of parameters. A stability theory which is described by the infinite Fourier series is used to analyze the numerical scheme of the model. The numerical shheme is used a backward implicit scheme. a sensitivity theory which is described by the first order linear vector equation is used to analyze theoretically the effect of variations of water quality parameters such as BOD loads, flow rate, temperature. The results of sensitivity theory are of general applicability and are presented in a analytical form. The results of this study seems to be satisfactory for the reliability of stream water quality model with respect to the numerical scheme and the variations of the water quality parameters.

  • The thermo-acoustic instability in the combustion process of a gas turbine is caused by the interaction of the heat release mechanism and the pressure perturbation. These acoustic vibrations cause fatigue failure of the combustor and decrease the combustion efficiency. This study is to develop a segmented dynamic thermo-acoustic model to understand combustion instability of gas turbine. Therefore, this study required a dynamic analysis rather than static analysis, and developed a segmented model that can analyze the performance of the system over time using the Matlab/Simulink. The developed model can confirm the thermo-acoustic combustion instability and exhaust gas concentration in the combustion chamber according to the equivalent ratio change, and confirm the thermo-acoustic combustion instability for the inlet temperature and the load changes. As a result, segmented dynamic thermo-acoustic model has been developed to analyze combustion instability under the operating condition.

  • Because of good taste and quick cooking, the induction heating type pressure rice cooker is widely used. Since pressure is applied to oven structure, it should be necessary to check the safety evaluation. In this paper, strain gauge experiment is performed in order to evaluate the oven's strain and its result is compared with that of structural analysis. And water test is performed to evaluate the oven's permanent deformation. The result is also compared with that of structural analysis. By using these experiments and analyses the safety evaluation method of the oven is suggested.

  • SMES의 운전 상태는 충전, 운전, 방전의 3가지 모드로 나눌 수 있으며, 충 방전 구간에서 와전류 손실이 발생한다. SMES의 에너지 방전 시 마그넷에서의 전류 감소로 인한 와전류 손실은 비록 짧은 시간동안 발생하지만 그 크기가 냉동기의 정격 열 부하 용량에 비해 상대적으로 크기 때문에, SMES 시스템 설계 시 이에 대한 영향을 고려해야 한다. 본 논문은 고온초전도 선재를 이용하여 개발 중인 600 kJ SMES의 방전 시, 마그넷을 냉각시키기 위한 권선 보빈형 열전도판의 분할과 슬릿의 위치에 따른 와전류 손실 변화를 3차원 유한요소법을 이용해 해석하고 그 결과를 제시하였다.

Basic Characteristics of a Self-Compensated Hydrostatic Journal Bearing (자기 보상형 유정압 저어널 베어링의 기본 특성)

  • A self-compensated water-hydrostatic bearing is well known to have advantages in stiffness. In this paper, its concept is extended to a hydrostatic journal bearing for achieving higher stiffness. The finite element method is applied to analyze the load characteristics of the self-compensated hydrostatic journal bearing. The analysis results reveal that the self-compensated journal bearing has higher load capacity and higher stiffness than conventional, fixed capillary journal bearings. and that this benefit degrades in the case of high eccentricity. Thus, a spindle system with self-compensated journal bearings must be designed to ensure a sufficiently large load capacity. A rectangular type capillary is also introduced with consideration of the practical application of the self-compensated hydrostatic journal bearing. Theoretical analysis results show that the rectangular type capillary is more beneficial than conventional annular type capillaries in practical use. The experimental verification on the analysis method is made to show that the experimental results are in good agreement with theoretical results.

  • The automatic load transfer switch (ALTS), a kind of electric power switch, typically automatically transfers electrical loads from a normal electrical power source to an emergency electrical power source upon reduction or loss of normal power source voltage. It can also automatically re-transfer the load to the normal power source when the normal voltage has been restored within acceptable limits. The transfer operation of ALTS is accomplished by a spring-driven linkage mechanism. In order to control or delay the transfer switching time, the ALTS studied in this paper uses the superposed leaf springs, which are subjected to impact leadings in contacting with electrical contacts. Therefore, to confirm whether the springs has enough mechanical endurance in ALTS, we build a finite element model of the superposed lear springs using LS-DYNA and perform the impact and fatigue analysis.
