Kindergarten Teacher's Difficulties the Relationships between Teacher and Parents (교사-부모 관계에서 경험하는 유치원 교사의 어려움)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify difficulties in the relationships between kindergarten teachers and parents and find out factors that make the relationship difficult. The research questions are as follows: Firstly, what are the difficulties of the kindergarten teachers in making relationship with the parents? Secondly, what are the reactions of the kindergarten teachers toward the difficulties in making relationships with the parents? The research participants were 15 teachers of private kindergartens located in C city. Semi-structured interviews were administered to the participants. Their responses were categorized into several themes while examining transcribed data continuously. The difficulties expressed by the kindergarten teachers were analyzed into "Teacher aspect" and "Parent aspect". The research findings were as follows. Firstly, the teachers found difficulty with particular characteristics of parents and their demands. Also, teachers found difficulty with making positive relationships with the parents because they perceived problems from their own perspective. Secondly, The teachers' reactions towards the difficulties of the relationships with the parents appeared into 4 different types.

  • 현대 사회가 급변하면서 가족 구조와 형태가 다양해지고, 여성의 경제 활동과 맞벌이 부부가 증가함에 따라 영유아 대상 돌봄에 대한 요구는 다양하게 변화하고 있다. 그러나 보육기관 증설 및 운영 시간 연장 등으로 보육의 공공성을 강화해 나가는 것에 반해, 유아 교육기관의 질과 영유아 상호작용에 큰 영향을 미치는 유치원 교사의 근무 여건 개선은 아직 미흡한 실정이다. 유치원 교사는 영유아의 성장과 발달에 결정적이고, 무조건적인 영향을 미치기 때문에 교육의 질을 결정하는 가장 중요한 요인이라 할 수 있다. 그럼에도 긴 근무 시간, 저임금, 학부모의 지나친 요구, 부진한 복지제도 등의 열악한 근무환경에서 직무스트레스와 그에 따른 심리적 소진을 경험하고 있다 본 연구에서는 유치원 교사가 지각하는 직무스트레스와 심리적 소진의 관계에서 자기자비와 마음챙김의 조절 효과를 규명하여 유치원 교사들이 흔히 겪을 수 있는 일반적인 어려움을 예상해보고 그 요인을 찾아 분석함으로서 유치원 교사의 스트레스를 예방하거나 감소시키기 위한 지원 방안 및 유치원 교사를 위한 교육프로그램 개발의 기초 자료로 활용되는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 경기도 내 유치원에 근무하는 교사 200명을 대상으로 직무스트레스척도(MTOSFQ), 심치적 소진척도(MBI), 자기자비척도(K-SCS), 마음챙김척도(FFMQ)를 사용하여 설문을 실시한 후 SPSS v22, 독립표본 t검정, 일원배치 분산분석, 선형회귀분석과 매개효과 검증을 위해 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하고자 한다.

Kindergarten Teacher Difficulties and Needed Support Requests: Centering on Kindergarten's Student Teachers, Beginning Teachers and Experienced Teachers (유치원 교사의 어려움과 지원요구: 유치원 예비교사, 초임교사, 경력교사를 중심으로)

  • This study analyzes the difficulties that student teachers, beginning teachers and experienced teachers face in the field of kindergarten, and urgent support requests. The total of participants was 372 of this number, 122 were student teachers, 118 were beginning teachers and 132 were experienced teachers. The results showed the difference in difficulties and the needed support requests among student teachers, beginning teachers and experienced teachers. Student teachers had the difficulty of time management, but beginning teachers and experienced teachers had trouble due to the nonexistence of assistant teachers. Student teachers required teaching strategies for starting relationships with children within responsibility. Beginning teachers and experienced teachers regarded the plan, practice, and evaluation of a program as the most needed support request. Collectively, the results revealed that expansion of the practice period is necessary for student teachers so that they can gain experience with children, parents, and the children's education institution with various opportunities as a learning course.

Teachers' Preception and Practice on Portfolio Assessment in the Field of Early Childhood Education (유아교육현장에서의 포트폴리오 평가에 대한 교사의 인식과 실제)

  • We investigated the differences between the teachers' perception and practice on portfolio assessments in kindergartens and daycare centers, and analyzed their dependence on various underlying factors. The participants of this study include 304 teachers in the kindergartens and daycare centers in J I G cities in Jeollabuk-do. The answers on the questionnaires were analysed by evaluating frequencies, percentage, averages, and standard deviations, and by carrying out paired t-test, ANOVA, and Scheff$\acute{e}$ verification using SPSS 18.0 program. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, teachers' practice fell meaningfully short of their perception in every sub-categories of the method and the effect of the portfolio assessment. Among the various underlying factors, only teachers' educational level played significant role. The difference between the perception and practice was relatively large among the teachers with regular 4-year college diploma as compared to junior-college graduates. Second, as we examine the difficulties in the portfolio assessment, teachers in general found difficulties on the questionnaires in all sub-categories, although the dependence on the underlying factors varies across the sub-categories. For example, teachers with higher level of education or who work at public kindergartens felt relatively more difficulties in the portfolio assessment.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine kindergarten teachers' the difficulties and needs on early childhood value education. In order to provide basic data by grasping of teachers, a survey was conducted on 815 teachers of kindergartens in Gyeonggi-do. As a result, first, the difficulties in applying value education to teachers are lack of information on specific teaching methods. Second, what is required is connecting the 2019 revised Nuri curriculum and value education, teacher's will and parents' understanding and participation. The implications are that the discussion on the right character emphasized in the Nuri curriculum and the needs of teachers who wish to link early childhood value education into an unseparated context were identified.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the problem of mathematic education of Korean Kindergarten, to search for the solution of the problem in korean Kindergarten. In particular, materials are mostly made and used by the teachers themselves, consuming too much time. Mathematics education materials available in Kindergartens were found to be insufficient. The reasons were the lack of effort by teachers to develop new materials as well as the lack of marketed materials.

A study on the operation status and effective management of mixed-age classes in kindergartens (유치원 혼합연령학급 운영 실태 및 개선 방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study discusses the effective management of mixed-ages classes in kindergarten. For the study, 300 kindergarten teachers in charge of mixed classes for regular courses completed a self-reported questionnaire through a web survey. The data were analyzed by chi-square test and presented by frequency and percentage. Mixed-ages classes had relatively fewer children than one-age classes and they were prevalent in public kindergartens and rural areas. The results were as follows. First, mixed-ages classes were induced by the small number of young children. Second, teachers managed their classes with difficulty due to the lack of supporting staff and few chances for additional teaching training. Third, teachers needed supporting human resources for their teaching and administration assistances. About 23.0% of kindergartens received assistance such as additional training, financial assistance, and consulting supervision from related institutions. The study results suggested the challenges in regulations of age ratio in mixed-ages class, additional teaching training for teachers in mixed-ages classes and replacement of mixed-ages class to same age class as the long-term plan.

  • It should be given the opportunity to acquire information about the health of infants for a new type of way of life with the passage of time, of which the internet is a lot of people are required to use the media in the modern world. So, we want to find out the status of kindergarten teachers' internet utilizing and how to utilize the internet health information on field. The purpose of this study is to explore the direction of improvement. We produce this research based on a precedent study about perception and actual condition of health information utilizing. The objects of this study are 180 kindergarten teachers working in Dae-jeon and most of them have experience of searching health information through internet. The collected data calculated frequency and percentage with SPSS 18.0 program. As a result, first, kindergarten teachers think the information of infants' health is relatively important, still they obtain it from the Internet. But they feel a difficulty in finding the proper information because it takes so much time. Second, they utilize the Internet whenever necessary to find health information and they could find it. However, health information obtained from the Internet, have not been unexpectedly useful. Therefore, training about the content of infant's health and utilizing method of internet health information is needed.

A Study on Early Childhood Teachers' Perceptions of Early Childhood Evaluation in the 2019 Revised Nuri Curriculum (유아교사의 2019 개정 누리과정에서의 유아평가에 대한 인식)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the perceptions and difficulties of early childhood teachers about the revised Nuri Curriculum, and to provide basic data for stable operation. 128 early childhood teachers in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were surveyed, and frequency analysis and chi-square test were performed using the SPSS 27.0 program. As a result of the study, teachers recognized the difference in child evaluation in the Nuri Curriculum and the revised Nuri Curriculum, and recognized the difference in the evaluation method the most. Some of the items on perception showed a significant difference according to the educational experience of teachers. Teachers recognized 'autonomy' as the focus of early childhood evaluation, and at the same time recognized that it was the biggest factor that made child evaluation difficult. The interactive peer-to-peer workshop showed the highest demand for early childhood evaluation. The results of this study will be the basis for finding ways to support teachers in charge of early childhood evaluation in the revised Nuri Curriculum.

Investigating the pre-service early childhood teachers' experience of making teaching materials (예비유아교사들의 교재교구 제작 경험 탐색)

  • This study examined the process, difficulties and understanding of making teaching materials by investigating the pre-service early childhood teachers' experience of making such materials. The results of the study would help in the design direction and methods of education for pre-service teachers in how to make materials. A total of 30 university students, who took the course of 'Early Childhood Educational Materials and Research Method' in B university, participated in the study. At the exploration stage, the pre-service teachers utilized the teacher guidance of Nuri curriculum, major books, internet materials, and their observation experiences in kindergartens. At the planning stage, they considered chiefly the children's interest and level, explored materials sufficiently, and selected the production method carefully. At the production stage, they performed basic hard work to prevent rework and tended to stick to the basics beyond their initial ambition as the work progressed. The difficulties that they faced, feeling pressured, were making materials based on their imagination without experiencing much from the infants, feeling embarrassed when things did not progress as planned, and feeling a sense of loss when comparing with other friends. Through these difficulties, the importance of precise planning, executing the process thoroughly, and repeatedly checking and reviewing the entire process of making textbooks and materials were realized. In addition, there is a need to search for a better development direction for the effective development of teaching textbooks and materials.
