Studies on Fluid Inclusion and Pyrite Geochemistry in the Moisan Au-Ag Deposit, Haenam District, Korea (해남 모이산 금-은 광상의 유체포유물 및 황화물 지구화학 연구)

  • We occur together with telluride minerals. Fluid inclusions in the euhedral quartz crystals are mainly aqueous liquid-rich inclusions, which have salinities about 0.18-2.24 wt% NaCl equivalent. Some quartz vein contains aqueous vapor-rich inclusions as well. Homogenization temperatures of the assemblages of the liquid-rich inclusions are about 141-384 ℃, and the temperatures are lower at the shallower vein samples. In the high Au-Ag grade depth intervals, relatively deeper fluids have relatively higher salinities and homogenization temperatures, while shallower fluids show somewhat wider ranges. These might indicate that the deep Au-Ag bearing hydrothermal fluids at the Moisan area experienced phase separation as well as mixing with meteoric water by decreasing pressure. Au-Ag precipitation in the Moisan deposit is not associated with pyrite, but pyrite include Au-Ag bearing phase as an inclusion, which might possibly be tellurides or electrum. Au/Ag ratios in the Au-Ag bearing phase do not change with different depth.

Static Chaos Microfluid Mixers Using Alternating Whirls and Laminations (미소블록에 의한 교차 회전유동과 미소유로에 의한 박층유동을 이용한 정적 혼돈 미소유체 혼합기에 관한 연구)

  • We have deigned, fabricated and compared four different types of static chaos microfluid mixers, including the mixers using straight channel flow, microblock-induced alternating whirl flow, microchannel-induced lamination flow, and combined alternating whirl-lamination flow. Among them, the alternating whirl-lamination (AWL-type) mixer, composed of 3-D rotationally arranged microblocks and dividing microchannels fabricated by conventional planar lithography process, is effective to reduce the mixing length over wide flow rate ranges. We characterize the performance of the fabricated mixers, through the flow visualization technique using phenolphthalein solution. We verify that the AWL-type microfluid mixer shows the shortest fluid mixing length of 2.8mm∼5.8mm for the flow rate range of Re=0.26∼26 with the pressure drop lower than 5kPa. Compared to the previous mixers, requiring the mixing lengths of 7∼17mm, the AWL-type microfluid mixer results in the 60% reduction of the mixing lengths. Due to the reduced mixing lengths within reasonable pressure drop ranges, the present micromixers have potentials for use in the miniaturized Micro-Total-Analysis-Systems($\mu$TAS).

  • 많은 도심의 하천들은 오염물질의 유입에 취약하다. 최근 신소재 공학 등 첨단산업이 발전하게 되면서 유해화학물질의 유입문제는 더욱 대두되고 있으며, 실제로 최근 유해화학물질 유입사고 발생건수가 늘어나고 있다. 특히 국내 취수량의 90%는 지표수에서 취수하고 있어, 하천오염사고는 직접적인 피해로 이어지게 된다. 따라서 이러한 사고에 대응하기 위하여 수환경에 유입된 유해물질의 거동 매커니즘을 반영한 수질해석이 필요하다. 수체 내에 유입된 유해화학물질은 기본적으로 흐름에 따른 이송 확산을 하며 흡 탈착, 휘발, 침전 부유, 생화학 반응과 같은 다양한 반응과 함께 혼합거동을 한다. 특히 소수성물질의 경우 용해된 상태뿐만 아니라, 유사에 흡착된 상태로 수체에 존재하게 된다. 결국 유해화학물질의 거동을 해석하기 위해서는 유체의 흐름 해석뿐만 아니라 수체에 존재하는 유사의 이송 또한 해석해야한다. 본 연구에서는 흐름해석을 위하여 서울대에서 개발한 흐름모형(HDM-2D)을 사용하였으며, 부유사 거동모의를 위해 부유사거동모형(STM-2D)을 개발하였다. 또한 유해화학물질의 거동모의를 위해 서울대에서 개발한 수질모형(CTM-2D)에 생성/소멸항을 추가하였으며 흐름모형과 부유사모형과의 연계를 통해 유해화학물질의 혼합거동 수치모형을 개발하였다. 각 반응항(흡 탈착, 휘발, 침전 부유, 생화학 반응)을 수치모형에 반영 시에는 보통 두 계(물-토양, 물-공기) 사이의 선형 물질교환으로 이해된다. 따라서 물질의 각 반응 별 평형농도와 물질교환속도계수를 추정식을 통해 산정하여 사용하게 된다. 하지만 각 기작이 반영유무에 따라 계산시간 및 필요입력변수가 늘어나게 되므로, 유해화학물질 유입사고와 같은 빠른 대처가 필요한 경우 각 반응 텀의 유의성을 판단하여 모형에 반영여부를 결정을 통해 경제적인 모의를 할 수 있어야 한다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 개발된 모형의 각 매개변수들의 민감도를 분석하고, 흐름조건 및 물질의 특성에 따른 반응항의 유의성을 판단하였다. 본 연구에서는 개발된 모형(부유사거동모형, 유해화학물질의 혼합거동모형)은 해석해 및 현장 데이터와 비교검증을 통해 개발을 완료하였으며, 각 반응항의 민감도 분석을 통해 매개변수의 임계값을 결정하였다.

Simulations of Axisymmetric Transition Flow Regimes Using a CFD/DSMC Hybrid Method (CFD/DSMC 혼합해석기법을 이용한 축대칭 천이영역 유동 해석)

  • In the present study, a CFD/DSMC hybrid method performed by a coupled analysis between the CFD method and the DSMC method was developed to obtain the flow information on the rarefied gas flows effectively. Flow simulations around the high speed vehicles on the transition flow regimes were conducted by using the developed method. The FRESH-FX vehicle made of cone and cylinder shapes was considered for the simulations. The results of the hybrid method were compared with the results of the pure CFD and the pure DSMC method to confirm the reliability and efficiency of the hybrid method. It was found that the gradient and the intensity of the shock waves were weakened due to the relatively low density on the transition flow regime. It was confirmed that the results of the hybrid analysis were different to those of the pure CFD analysis and almost identical to those of the pure DSMC analysis. In addition, the computational time of the hybrid method was reduced than that of the pure DSMC method. As a result, it was obtained that the validity and the efficiency of the CFD/DSMC hybrid method.

  • Ejector is a simple device which can transport a low-pressure secondary flow by using a high-pressure primary flow. The efficiency of the ejector system is relatively very low, compared to other fluid transport devices driven mainly by the forces acting on the normal direction. However, its major advantage is a simple structure with no moving parts, and it transports a large amount of fluid with a small driving energy. In this study, the performance of side-type liquid ejector commonly used in ships; is analyzed by using experimental and CFD methods under steady and incompressible flow condition by varying the length of the throat and diffuser, the flow pattern and suction phenomenon were studied in detail.

A Feasibility Study on the Mixed Refrigerant Composition in the Rankine Cycle Empowered by Cold Energy (냉열을 이용한 랭킨 사이클 방식의 발전시스템에서 혼합냉매유체 조성비의 적용한계 분석)

  • The power generation system using cold energy, which evolves in a large amount during the vaporization process of the liquefied natural gas, was designed in favor of the Rankine cycle with a mixed refrigerant as the working fluid. In this study it is intended to identify the allowable limits of the working fluid composition in respect of equipment safety in the Rankine cycle-type power generation system driven by the cold energy. The thermodynamic properties of the working fluid, which is a hydrocarbon mixture, were calculated with the Peng-Robinson model. In the steady state simulation of the power generation system by using a commercial tool Aspen HYSYS, the feed conditions of LNG Test Bed Train No.1 along with some necessary assumptions were incorporated. The results indicated that deterioration of the mechanical performance of the equipment as well as its safety would be brought about if contents of $C_2H_6$ and $C_3H_8$ in the mixture become, respectively, too high or too low.

  • In this study, new shock absorbing system is proposed by using nano-technology based on the theoretical analysis. The new shock absorbing system is complementary to the hydraulic damper, having a cylinder-piston-orifice construction. Particularly for new shock absorbing system, the hydraulic oil is replaced by a colloidal suspension, which is composed of a porous matrix and a lyophobic fluid. The matrix of the suspension is consisted of porous micro-grains with a special architecture: they present nano-pores serially connected to micro-cavities. Until now, only experimentally qualitative studies of new shock absorbing system have been performed, but the mechanism of energy dissipation has not been clarified. This paper presents a modeling and theoretical analysis of the new shock absorbing system thermodynamics, nono-flows and energy dissipation. Compared with hydraulic system, the new shock absorbing system behaves more efficiently, which absorb a large amount of mechanical energy, without heating. The theoretical computations agree reasonably well with the experimental results. As a result. the proposed new shock absorbing system was proved to be an effective one, which can replace with the conventional one.

Preparation of Porous Polypropylene Membrane by a Thermally Induced Phase Separation Method in Supercritical CO2 (CO2 초임계 유체에서 열식법을 이용한 다공성 폴리프로필렌 막의 제조)

  • Porous polypropylene membranes were prepared by a thermally induced phase separation method in super-critical $CO_2$, where polypropylene and Camphene were used as raw materials. The porosity of polypropylene membranes with 10 wt% polypropylene concentration was 78, 80, 73% by using methanol, ethanol, and n-buthanol as an analytical solvent, respectively. The tensile strength increased with an increasing polypropylene concentration, where it was $0.17kg_f/mm^2$ at 10 wt% polypropylene concentration. The extraction rate for Camphene increased with time and Camphene was removed 94% in 5 min. It increased with an increasing temperature and was 99% at $45^{\circ}C$, however, decreased with an increasing temperature at higher than $45^{\circ}C$. The extraction rate increased with an increasing pressue up to 150 bar, however, decreased slightly with an increasing pressure over 150 bar. The extraction rate had a relation with the solubility of Camphene in supercritical $CO_2$.

Rapid Estimation of the Aerodynamic Coefficients of a Missile via Co-Kriging (코크리깅을 활용한 신속한 유도무기 공력계수 추정)

  • Surrogate models have been used for the rapid estimation of six-DOF aerodynamic coefficients in the context of the design and control of a missile. For this end, we may generate highly accurate surrogate models with a multitude of aerodynamic data obtained from wind tunnel tests (WTTs); however, this approach is time-consuming and expensive. Thus, we aim to swiftly predict aerodynamic coefficients via co-Kriging using a few WTT data along with plenty of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) data. To demonstrate the excellence of co-Kriging models based on both WTT and CFD data, we first generated two surrogate models: co-Kriging models with CFD data and Kriging models without the CFD data. Afterwards, we carried out numerical validation and examined predictive trends to compare the two different surrogate models. As a result, we found that the co-Kriging models produced more accurate aerodynamic coefficients than the Kriging models thanks to the assistance of CFD data.

Numerical Study of Breakup Process of Diesel Spray (디젤분무의 분열과정에 대한 수치해석 연구)

  • High-pressure flows are ubiquitous in many industrial fields. A representative application is fuel injection using a common-rail control system in diesel engines, where the injection pressure in the injector exceeds 1000 bar. In high-speed injection, the fluid injected through the nozzle undergoes breakup owing to the interaction with the ambient gas. The breakup process influences mixture formation, which in turn influences combustion in diesel engines. Therefore, it is very important to analyze the breakup process of fuel spray. The Reitz and Diwakar model and cascade atomization and breakup (CAB) model were used in this study as sub-models for the numerical analysis of the breakup process of fuel spray. This study aims to precisely analyze the breakup process of spray and to investigate the breakup frequency of the injected fuel. Consequently, it proposes a suitable sub-model for analyzing the breakup process of a diesel spray by using CFX, a commercial CFD program.
