Design of Magnetic Systems for SNUT-79 Tokamak (SNUT-79 토카막의 자장 계통 설계)

  • A toroidal-field (TF) coil with a pure tension D-shape curve is designed for the confinement of high-temperature plasmas in the SNUT-79, which is a tokamak being built at Seoul National University. A toroidal assembly of 16 D-shape TF coils is designed to produce the magnetic field of up to 3T, of which ripples appear to be below 4% of the average toroidal field in the plasma region. Exact positions and currents in six equilibrium coils distributed symmetrically in the z=0 plane are found by the solution of a set of linear equations which is transformed from a Fredholm integral equation of the first kind. The decay indices resulted from equilibrium field indicate that the stability condition for vertical and horizontal displacements is satisfied.

  • This paper presents a tracking gain-up controller design method to control effectively the vibration of tracking actuator caused by external shocks and remaining velocity after seek control. A pole placement constraint is considered to assure a desired transient response against the vibration of tracking actuator. A loop gain-up constraint is introduced to hold the tracking gain-up loop gain and control bandwidth within allowable bounds. The pole placement constraint is expressed by a matrix inequality and the loop gain-up constraint is considered as an objective function so that genetic algorithm can be applied. Finally, a tracking gain-up controller is obtained by integrating a genetic algorithm with LMI design approach. The proposed tracking gain-up controller design method is applied to the track-following system of a DVD recording device and its effectiveness is evaluated through the experimental results.

Vibration Characteristic of a Cylindrical Rod according to the Mounting Locations on the Grid Support Structure (격자 지지구조체에 묶여있는 실린더 형 봉의 삽입위치에 따른 진동특성)

  • A vibration test for a cylindrical rod inserted on the grid support structure was tested using the sine sweep excitation method with closed loop force control. The effect of the mounting location of a test rod on the vibration characteristics of a rod continuously supported by the full size($16{\times}16$) grid support was identified. An electromagnetic vibration shaker, non-contact displacement sensor and HP/VXI data acquisition device were used and TDAS software was also used as a data sampling and processing tools. The natural frequencies and mode shape of the test rod were consistent with the previous works of a rod vibration test with partial grids($3{\times}3,\;5{\times}5\;and\;7{\times}7$). The frequency characteristics of the rod according to the mounting location were shown clear discrepancies, but mode shapes were nearly same. As the test rod closes to the bottom clamping region of the spacer grid, peak vibration amplitudes of the rod become smaller.

  • The performance of passive conductor loop (hereinafter 'loop') method which is used to mitigate the magnetic field around overhead power transmission line is dependent on its configuration and installed location, which are affected by installation conditions of the loops such as objective areas and levels of magnetic field mitigation. Thus, because the design problem of loops is difficult and cumbersome by variety of their configuration and complexity of magnetic coupling mechanism, it is need to be formulated as a computer-based optimum problem to determine the most effective and reasonable loop model satisfying the installation conditions. In this paper, the optimum locations of the multi-wired multiple loops including series reactance compensations are searched by using the genetic algorithm (GA) to mitigate effectively the magnetic fields of relatively near points or far points from transmission line at Am height, and the magnetic fields mitigation characteristics of each loop are analyzed in the view of magnitude, direction and phase of cancellation fields by polarized vector concept to identify their adequacy and rationality for the installation objectives.

Reduced Search for a CELP Adaptive Codebook (CELP 부호화기의 코드북 탐색 시간 개선)

  • This paper proposes a reduction scheme for codebook search time in the adaptive codebook using wavelet transformed coefficients. In a CELP coder, pitch estimation with a combined open loop and closed loop search in adaptive codebook needs a lengthy search. More precisely, the pitch search using autocorrelation function over all possible ranges has been shown inefficient compared to the consuming time. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive codebook search algorithm which ensures the same position for the pitch with maximum wavelet coefficient over various scaling factors in Dyadic wavelet transform. A new adaptive codebook search algorithm reduces 25% conventional search time with almost the same quality of speech.

  • This paper presents the analysis of the coupling coefficient(k), Q value of the resonator, and the optimum loaded resistance at Rx for the magnetically coupled wireless power transmission using two loops(resonators). In addition, the metamaterial, conductor, and the relay methods have been used in order to improve the limitation problem of transmission efficiency by using the figure of merit. We have achieved the increase of transmission efficiency about 11~60 % using the proposed methods by analyzing and comparing the results based on EM simulations.

  • Telemanipulator is distingushed from industrial robot by iterating same specified work. Manipulator operator is included in control loop for controlling the telemanipulator because he decide directly during the work and order controllabily. We implement fuzzy controller for reducing the modelling error of telemanipulator which depend on the PID controller. But position-force control method of bidirectional control impose unsafety of vibiration and Analytic Hierchy method can stabilize for reducing nonlinear modelling error by expert operator because of transformation empirical control rule to linear model.

A Modified Bresenham's Line Drawing Algorithm Using Symmetrical Property of Line Segment (직선 선분의 대칭성을 이용한 수정 브레제남 직선 그리기 알고리즘)

  • A line segment has a symmetrical property about its midpoint. With this symmetrical property for a line segment we have proposed a variant of Bresenham's line drawing algorithm that selects two pixels at the same time. It implies that bi-directional line drawing toward the midpoint of line segment from each-end be possible. Besiders, it can select two pixels using only one decision parameter, instead of two different parameters for each pixel. We also present a theoretical proof for the correctness of such a selection. Thus, we can reduce the time of generating line segment by approximately less than 5% compared to the Bresenham's method. Also, our experimental results show that the shape of line segment generated by the proposed approach is the exactly same as that of Bresenham's method.

  • The linear hybrid stepping motors (LHSM) has been widely used due to its simple structure and low cost control. Despite of its attractive features, the conventional LHSM has the multiples of 4th times harmonic reluctance force from excitation current and cogging force from space harmonic of permeance. This paper propose a new LHSM, which the mechanical and electrical phase difference are $45^{\circ}$. The proposed motor shows a unique ability to deliver low detent force and we propose a closed-loop control scheme to attack the ripple force for high performance applications. An analytical and experimental comparison between conventional and proposed LHSM is evaluated to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed modeling and control scheme.

  • In this paper, we'll show that an improved PDFF controller is obtained by substituting a feedforward compensator in the existing PDFF system with a dual-input describing function, and the controller has the ability of adjusting the bandwidth of a system as well as the phase margin simultaneously. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is confirmed by applying to the DC-motor position control system. As the results of simulation, we know that it is possible to design a controller by which the bandwidth of the closed system and its phase margin are easily adjusted.
