Design and Fabrication of 2.65GHz Antenna for Satellite-DMB (위성 DMB용 2.65GHz 안테나 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, we propose a microstrip antenna with sufficient impedance bandwidths and gains for the 2.65GHz antenna which can be used in the satellite digital multimedia broadcasting. The prposed 2.65GHz satellite DMB bandwidth microstrip antenna is implemented on a substrate, which is small enough to be installed in practical mobile phones, and described simulation feature using by CST MicroWave Studio program. And also, we measured the antenna performance between the proposed antenna and the commercial antenna. From the analysis, it was found that the radiation pattern of proposed antenna is superior to the commercial antenna and an acceptable frequency band is more wider than the existing products.

  • CDMA has been used widely in communication standards like IS-95, WCDMA, and Korea-Japan Satellite-DMB. Since CDMA has a multiple access interference (MAI) problem, a CDMA receiver requires an interference cancellation scheme like prefilter, a kind of adaptive filter. This paper proposed a memory-based prefilter architecture to reduce the area of a prefilter. An adaptive filter is usually implemented with registers for area reduction, but memory-based architecture leads to a less area for a prefilter due to its functional characteristics. Experimental results show that memory-based architecture reduces the area by around 10% in common prefilters.

A Development of DMB-AF Player Supporting 3D Video Contents (3D 비디오 콘텐트를 지원하는 DMB-AF 플레이어 개발)

  • Recently an extension to DMB-AF (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting Application Format) standard was proposed in [1] without sufficient validation for industrial application due to incomplete implementation. The extended DMB-AF can include stereoscopic video and stereoscopic images for interactive service data, i.e., MPEG-4 BIFS data, in addition to the existing 2D video and 2D images for BIFS services. The contents in the extended DMB-AF can provide a temporal mixture of 2D/3D video presentations possibly with or without 2D/3D images for BIFS services. In this paper we developed DMB-AF player software that can play the extended DMB-AF files and authored several test files for its verification. As a result, we introduced a new method for indicating dependencies of 3D media tracks to improve the extension in [1] and validated the extended DMB-AF with the improvement.

Design of Planar Modified Folded Loop Antennas for S-DMB band (위성 DMB 대역을 위한 수정된 폴디드 루프 안테나)

  • In this paper, the planar type modified folded loop antennas for S-DMB band is proposed. The proposed antenna consisted of opened center of a conventional closed loop and folded terminal of microstrip line to inside loop antenna. The sizes proposed antenna was minimized by folding the terminal of the loop. Also, It was minimized reactance value by increasing capacitances between coupled microstrip line. Therefore the proposed antennas compacted about 20% than a conventional loop antenna and increased efficiency of antenna. The proposed antennas got an omni-directional pattern, the antenna gain was 3.67 [dBi] and the bandwidth was 900 MHz (2.6-3.56 GHz) with VSWR${\leq}$2 from the simulated and the measured results. The frequency utilization coefficient was 29.9 %. These properties could satisfy the S-DMB band.

  • With the rapid development of digital technology, the satellite DMB service is able to provide chance to watch on TV, movie and listen on the Radio to their subscriber with moving. From the mid 2005, Korean people can get the satellite DMB service which includes In many kinds of new telecommunication services such as watching on tv, movie, and listening the music on service charge. The objective of this study is to grasp the factors which affecting the use satellite DMB service on the consumers who pay service charge, and to make an analysis on the structure relationship between such factors with consumer satisfaction and consumer royalty.

Design and Fabrication of Clock Recovery Module for Gap Filter of Satellite DMB (위성 DMB 중계기용 클럭 재생 모듈 설계 및 제작)

  • The clock recovery module of gap filler for satellite DMB is proposed. Proposed module sustains the output frequency of 10 MHz whether the received signal from the satellite is unstable or cut off within 0.5 sec. The advantages of this module is without frequency tuning at regular interval and low material cost. This module is fabricated by using CPLD as clock recovery IC and new type of loop filter for satisfying the fast lock time and long hold over time simultaneously. The measured performance of the fabricated module has a holdover time of 11 sec at frequency stability less than 0.01 ppm, and phase noise of -113 dBc/Hz at 100 Hz offset.

  • A dual-mode annular ring antenna for both global positioning system(GPS) and satellite digital multimedia broad-casting(DMB) is designed. The proposed antenna consists of a coupling feed line and four slots on the annular ring patch. The gap between the feed line and the annular ring patch is used for an input impedance matching, and the slot length is used for adjusting the resonant frequency of the $TM_{21}$ mode at the DMB frequency. The antenna was fabricated and measured. The experimental results show that the antenna resonants at the GPS and DMB frequencies with suitable bandwidths, and had a broadside radiation pattern at the GPS band and a conical beam radiation pattern at the DMB band.

  • The Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(DMB) system is developed to offer high quality audio-visual multimedia contents to the uses by the various portable terminals in the mobile environment. Integrated complex reception platform is required to receive multimedia broadcasting services transmitted from various transmission media. In this paper, we present the design and implementation technic for providing the both of terrestrial and satellite DMB services simultaneously using the same hardware platform. The implemented complex receiving terminal to accommodate these DMB services simultaneously need composed of it RF module. it baseband module, it complex control module and the complex de-multiplexer module. The complex control module is designed using uClinux operating system. The complex de-multiplexer, which perform the functions of the address decoder and each DMB stream de-multiplexer, is implemented. with FPGA device. The implemented platform is tested in a real environment and its performance is satisfied with required performance criteria.
