This study aimed to investigate the perception on dental hygienists and convergence factors to affect social requirements on their roles so as to utilize them as the fundamental data to assist the common people to understand the occupation and roles of dental hygienists and expand their positive perception further. Upon the multiple regression analysis from 235 final analysis subjects who underwent survey from August 1st to 25th 2017 among 270 adults in Busan and Gyeongnam areas, the awareness level on the dental hygienists was higher as the education level was lower and quality of life was more positive. Requirements were increased more as the education level was lower, quality of life related to oral health was more positive, quality of life was more positive, and awareness level on the roles and knowledge of dental hygienists was increased more. Further programs and promotional plans should be continuously activated to establish the career roles and expand the awareness in every field including dental clinic practices, dental hygiene training, related groups, and so on.

Despite the high demand for dental care professionals, high turnover of dental hygienists have been reported, especially among workers in the dental clinics. This study aimed to examine job satisfaction factors affecting dental hygienist's service year in Seoul using cross-sectional data. The questionnaire survey was conducted from August 26, 2013 to September 13, 2013. Data were collected from 296 employees of dental clinics and hospitals located in Seoul. Logistic regression analysis was applied for parameter estimates, using PASW Statistics 18.0 and R software version 3.0.3. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ for the total job satisfaction factors was 0.922. In descriptive statistics, the group (that less than four years of working and over four years of working) had a statistically significant difference in age, religion, experience of turnover and autonomous factor among job satisfaction factors. In multiple logistic regression model, autonomy in job satisfaction was an important factor to predict the length of service in dental hygienist (odds ratio, 2.65; 95% confidence interval, 1.06~6.60). Autonomous factor was a significant predictor of length of service for dental hygienist. This study encourages future investigations of the role of job satisfaction of service year using better analytical frameworks.

This study conducted qualitative research to investigate the librarians' organizational commitment and relations between the commitment and their goal recognition in the university library context with several open-ended, deep interviews with university librarians in order to understand the relations from diverse perspectives. As a result, many participants showed low level of organizational commitment because of their hygiene factors, such as payment, incentives, relations with colleagues, and job conditions as well as motivators including characteristics of the work, sense of accomplishment, responsibility, promotion, and self-improvement. The two factors are considered to have direct impacts on their organizational commitment. Also, the research revealed that positive goal perception was related to motivators and, at the same time, hygiene factors. Accordingly, we concluded that librarians' perception of goals are closely related to both hygiene factors and motivators. We also identify that a need of a statistical study with a questionnaire survey to confirm the relations between the organizational commitment and goal perception for developing managerial measures for the organizational commitment, and further;for better library performance.

This study was to investigate the supporting awareness and empathy with the dental hygiene student. The participants were 193 dental hygiene students in Gwang Ju city and analyzed by the frequency analyzed, t-test, ANOVA, pearson corelation coefficients and multiple regression analysis using IBM SPSS STATICS 20.0. Supporting awareness and empathy about the elderly had a significant positive correlation. Factors influencing empathy were interest of elderly problem and supporting awareness. It is necessary to the establishment of a subject and education program about elderly in dental hygiene students.

Study surveyed perception of dental hygienist occupation was surveyed by examining the qualifications, occupational evaluation Criteria, professional intuition of some college students for the dental hygienist occupation analyzed by the SPSS WIN18.0 program. Among the necessary qualities of dental hygienist, 'professional knowledge of dental hygiene', 'dental hygiene skills' were the highest. Average of Job evaluation Criteria was 4.06, which was higher than the average of 3.80 Job evaluation factors of dental hygienists. As for the Job evaluation criteria, 'stable job', 'job with good work atmosphere and interpersonal relationship' was the highest, 'job with contact with people', 'independent job' was the most. Job evaluation Criteria for dental hygienists, 'jobs with contact with people', 'jobs that can help others' were high, and 'high wages', 'high probability of promotion' were low. As a result of regression analysis of general characteristics and dental hygiene professionalism, it was analyzed that the professionalism of dental hygienists increased when the major was non-health. Overall, In order to improve the qualifications of dental hygienists and raise awareness of vocational evaluation, efforts should be made systematically to identify the strengths and weaknesses of vocational evaluation and dental hygienists and to seek improvements.

Background: The purpose of this study is to assess the degree of self-awareness, recognition of others, and adaptation to college life of dental hygiene students, and to identify the factors affecting college life adjustment. Methods: The effect size was calculated using the G*power 3.1.9.4 program, based on the data of 191 people who agreed to participate in the questionnaire. Independent samples t-test, one way ANOVA, Post HOC Scheffe, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted to explore the difference and correlation between self-awareness, perception of others, and college life adjustment according to general characteristics. Results: A significant positive correlation was found in self-awareness (r=.301). The highest positive correlations were with social adjustment in both private (r=.340) and public self-awareness (r=.331) (p<0.01). Recognition of others (r=-.051) showed a negative correlation with college life adjustment, though it was not statistically significant. As factors for adapting to college life, private self-awareness (β=.232) and public self-awareness (β=.254) had a positive (+) effect, and internal self-awareness (β=-.205) was found to have a negative (-) effect (p<0.01) Conclusion: The self-awareness and recognition of others among dental hygiene students influence their smooth adjustment to college life. Improvement measures are recommended to enhance adaptability to college life and develop core competencies related to their major

Advances in the dental medical field now provide high quality medical service, and thus, it has become important to identify the role of dental hygienists. However, the professional status of dental hygienists has not been acknowledged, and this has resulted in problems such as dissatisfaction and high turnover rates at dental hospitals. This study was undertaken to identify factors that influence dental hygienist job satisfaction and turnover rates. To achieve this we used a synthetic approach incorporating individual (optimism), job (professionalism), and organizational (perceived organizational support) characteristics. Our results showed that optimism, professionalism, and perceived organizational support were positively related to job satisfaction. Furthermore, job satisfaction was found to be negatively related to turnover intension and to partially mediate the effect between POS and turnover intention. We believe the results of this study could be used by dental hospitals to address dental hygienist dissatisfaction and high turnover rates.

In this study, we surveyed the students enrolled in the dental hygiene program to identify how academic self-efficacy and subjective happiness affect academic resilience and, therefore, to help in guidance and adaptation to college life for dental hygiene students. We conducted the self-administered survey by randomized inclusion of dental hygiene students from Daejeon and South Chungcheong Province. A total of 175 students were finally analyzed. The study result showed that subjective happiness and academic self-efficacy were the factors that affected academic resilience and explanatory power accounting for 25.6%. This study has provided a foundational basis for the development of programs to enhance students' adaptation to college life by providing guidance for dental hygiene students and suggesting factors related to adaptation to college life.

This study aimed to provide the basic data necessary for lowering the academic and job stress and turnover rate of male dental hygienists in the future, by understanding the academic and job stress factors of male dental hygienists. As the research method, this study conducted the one-to-one interview with five male dental hygienists with career experiences for 1-5 years at dental hospital and dental clinic, and the interview took about an hour. In the results of this study, the main academic stress factors were interpersonal relationship and too much assignment while the main job stress factors were communication problems with female staffs and director, and anxiety about the future. They relieved their stress through meeting with friends, relaxation, and hobbies. Based on such results of this study, it would be necessary to suggest the measures for improving the interpersonal relationship in academic life of male dental hygienists, providing information about employment, and also finding the future-oriented goals and confidence in the profession as a male dental hygienist.

This study was conducted to identify the factors that affect the empathy ability of dental hygiene students and to provide them with basic data to explore ways to improve empathy ability. The participants in the study were 198. Data analysis was carried out T-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis by using SPSS version 19.0. The order of factors that affect the empathy ability from the most to the least was empathic ability(��=.315) and emotional clarity(��=.210), altruistic behavior(��=.206). Based on the results of this research, we presented basic data useful for developing programmes for dental hygiene student's empathy, and proposed the necessity of follow-up research.
