One-dimensional and Image Signal Denoising Using an Adaptive Wavelet Shrinkage Filter (적응적 웨이블렛 수축 필터를 이용한 일차원 및 영상 신호의 잡음 제거)

  • In this paper we present a new image denoising filter that can suppress additive noise components while preserving signal components in the wavelet domain. The proposed filter, which we call an adaptive wavelet shrinkage(AWS) filter, is composed of two operators: the wavelet killing operator and the adaptive shrinkage operator. Each operator is selected based on the threshold value which is estimated adaptively by using the local statistics of the wavelet coefficients. In the wavelet killing operation, the small wavelet coefficients below the threshold value are replaced by zero to suppress noise components in the wavelet domain. The adaptive shrinkage operator attenuates noise components from the wavelet components above the threshold value adaptively. The experimental results show that the proposed filter is more effective than the other methods in preserving signal components while suppressing noise.

  • In this paper, a MMSE filter in homomorphic wavelet transform domain is proposed for restoring an ultrasonic images corrupted by speckle noise. In order to remove effectively the speckle noise which is a kind of multiplicative noise, speckle noise is transformed into a form of additive noise and then the additive noise is denoised through the MMSE filter in homomorphic wavelet transform domain. The proposed method shows much higher quality in terms of ISNR and subject quality.

  • In this paper, an adaptive interference excision scheme with multiple adaptive filter bank using an adaptive algorithm is proposed. This scheme suppresses interference in the wavelet packet transform domain for the direct spread spectrum communication systems. Using the Monte-Carlo simulation, we analyze the performance of the direct spread spectrum communication systems with this excision scheme using LMS and RLS adaptive algorithms in AWGN and interference channel.

  • 이 논문에서는 밀폐된 공간 내에서 발생하는 소음을 줄이기 위해 일종의 능동 소음 제어 방법을 발표한다. 제안된 제어방법은 WPFB(Wavelet Packet Filter Bank)를 이용하여 기존의 FXLMS(Filtered-X Least Mean Square) 알고리즘의 단점인, 소음 제어시스템 내에서의 소음전달의 지연으로 인한 불안정성과, 소음의 급작스런 변화에 대한 응답능력부족을 해소하는 방법이다. 이 시스템의 주요 특성은 소음제어 시스템의 이차경로에 WPFB이 삽입되어 FXLMS 알고리즘에 비해 빠른 연산이 수행된다는 것이다. 다른 말로 하면, WPFB는 병렬연산을 수행한다. 그러면, 적응 알고리즘 내에 있는 필터의 웨이트들이 더 빨리 갱신될 것이다. 또한 WPFB는 뛰어난 분해능을 가지고 있어서 아주 미세한 소음까지도 처리해 낼 수가 있다. 이 제어기법의 효율성은 simulation을 통해 증명될 것이다.

  • Industrial equipment, such as power plant, is required to operate reliably, continuously and economically under rather severe conditions of temperature, stress, and enbironment. To test structural integrity and fitness, ultrasonic nondestructive testing is used because of effectiveness and simplicity. In this paper, wavelet transform based least mean square(LMS) algorithm is applied to reduce the influence of the interference occurring between randomly positioned small scatters. The RUN test is performed to check the nonstationarity of the speckle noise signal. The performance of this new approach is compared with that of the time domain LMS algorithm by means of condition numbers, signal-to-noise ratio and 3-D image. As a result, the wavelet transform based LMS algorithm shows better performance than the time domain LMS algorithm in this experiment.

Facial Image Recognition Based on Wavelet Transform and Neural Networks (웨이브렛 변환과 신경망 기반 얼굴 인식)

  • In this study, we propose facial image recognition based on wavelet transform and neural network. This algorithm is proposed by following processes. First, two gray level images is captured in constant illumination and, after removing input image noise using a gaussian filter, differential image is obtained between background and face input image, and this image has a process of erosion and dilation. Second, a mask is made from dilation image and background and facial image is divided by projecting the mask into face input image Then, characteristic area of square shape that consists of eyes, a nose, a mouth, eyebrows and cheeks is detected by searching the edge of divided face image. Finally, after characteristic vectors are extracted from performing discrete wavelet transform(DWT) of this characteristic area and is normalized, normalized vectors become neural network input vectors. And recognition processing is performed based on neural network learning. Simulation results show recognition rate of 100 % about learned image and 92% about unlearned image.

  • In this paper, a processor architecture is proposed based on the state space implementation technique for real time processing of 2-D discrete wavelet transform(DWT). It conducts 2-D DWT operations in consideration of row and column direction simultaneously, thus can reduce latency due to memory access for storing intermediate results. It is a VLSI architecture suitable for real time processing. The proposed architecture includes only four multipliers and four adders, and NK-N internal memory storage, where K denotes the length of filter. It has a small hardware complexity. Therefore it is very suitable architecture for real time, embedded applications such as web camera server. Since the processor is easily extended to array structure, it can be applied to various image processing applications.

3D Face Image Watermarking using Wavelet Transform (웨이브렛 변환을 이용한 3차원 얼굴영상 워터마킹)

  • This paper proposes an 3D face image watermarking method based on discrete wavelet transform(DWT). First, 3D face image are transformed by DWT and inserted gaussian watermark into frequency domain. To increase the robustness and perceptual invisibility of watermark, the proposed algorithm is combined with the characteristics of 3D face image and human visual system. The proposed method is invisible and blind watermarking which the original image is not required. Simulation results show that the proposed method is robust to the general attack such as JPEG compression, enhancement, noise, cropping, and filtering etc.

  • This paper proposes an digital image watermarking method based on discrete wavelet transform(DWT) and spatial perceptual properties of human visula system. first, an digital image is transformed by DWT and inserted gaussian watermark into the frequency domain.   • Irregular reflected signals on a sea surface make clutters to a ship's radar image. Clutters are similar to Gaussian white noises which are very harmful for detecting objecting at sea by a ship's radar. To remove the clutter effects, many papers show the algorithms by antenna, filters, and so on. This paper shows a new algorithm which uwes Wavelet and Morphology median filter conceps for removing clutter and enhancing image in order to detect well a distressed of being rescued ship in a rough weather condition at sea.
