The equipment is compact, so it can be applied to a limited space and capable of stable data transmission was designed and manufactured even with specifications set differently for each operating environment and system. RF direct conversion structure is used for the miniaturization of equipment, an RF transmission board, Power distribution board, and a signal processing board were implemented on a single PCB, so that the function of the transmitter could be performed with a minimum device. According to the target specification, variable output of 1~10W and variable data rate of 390kbps~12.5Mbps is possible in S-Band(2,200~2,400MHz) without degradation of performance. To verify the performance of the equipment, the RF performance test and BER measurement test were performed after the equipment was manufactured. It was confirmed that the OBW, null-to-null bandwidth, 1st IMD, Spurious emission, Phase noise specification of the PCM/FM modulated signal which is presented by the IRIG standard were satisfied, and we can confirm the data received using the transmitter inspection equipment were transmitted normally without distortion.

  • This paper investigates the naval application of laser communication as a potential replacement for traditional acoustic wave communication in underwater environments. We developed a laser transceiver using Arduino and MATLAB, conducting a water tank experiment to validate communication feasibility across diverse underwater conditions. In the first experiment, when transmitting data through a laser, the desired message was converted into data and transmitted, received, and confirmed to be converted into the correct message. In the second experiment, the operation of communication in underwater situations was confirmed, and in the third experiment, the intensity of light was measured using the CDS illuminance sensor module and the limits of laser communication were measured and confirmed in various underwater situations. Additionally, MATLAB code was employed to gather data on salinity, water temperature, and water depth for calculating turbidity. Optimal wavelength values (532nm, 633nm, 785nm, 1064nm) corresponding to calculated turbidity levels (5, 20, 55, 180) were determined and presented. The study then focuses on analyzing potential applications in naval tactical communication, remote sensing, and underwater drone control. Finally, we propose measures for overcoming current technological limitations and enhancing performance.

  • The direct and indirect damages caused by fires in underground utility tunnels have a great impact on society as a whole, so efforts are needed to prevent and manage them in advance. To this end, research is ongoing to prevent disasters such as fire flooding by applying digital twin technology to underground utility tunnels. A network is required to transmit the sensed signals from each sensor to the platform. In essence, it is necessary to analyze the application of wireless networks in the underground utility tunnel environments because the tunnel lacks the reception range of external wireless communication systems. Within the underground utility tunnels, electromagnetic interference caused by transmission and distribution cables, and diffuse reflection of signals from internal structures, obstacles, and metallic pipes such as water pipes can cause distortion or size reduction of wireless signals. To ensure real-time connectivity for remote surveillance and monitoring tasks through sensing, it is necessary to measure and analyze the wireless coverage in underground utility tunnels. Therefore, in order to build a wireless network environment in the underground utility tunnels. this study minimized the shaded area and measured the actual cavity environment so that there is no problem in connecting to the wireless environment inside the underground utility tunnels. We analyzed the data transmission rate, signal strength, and signal-to-noise ratio for each section of the terrain of the underground utility tunnels. The obtained results provide an appropriate wireless planning approach for installing wireless networks in underground utility tunnels.

  • Purpose For nuclear medicine technologists, it is difficult to stay away from or to separate from radiation sources comparing with workers who are using radiation generating devices. Nuclear medicine technologists work is recognized as an optimized way when they are familiar with work practices. The aims of this study are to measure radiation exposure of technologists working in PET and to evaluate the occupational radiation dose after implementation of strategies to lower exposure. Materials and Methods We divided into four working types by QC for PET, injection, scan and etc. in PET scan procedure. In QC of PET, we compared the radiation exposure controlling next to $^{68}Ge$ cylinder phantom directly to controlling the table in console room remotely. In injection, we compared the radiation exposure guiding patient in waiting room before injection to after injection. In scan procedure of PET, we compared the radiation exposure moving the table using the control button located next to the patient to moving the table using the control button located in the far distance. PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DOSEMETER (PED), Tracerco$^{TM}$ was used for measuring exposed radiation doses. Results The average doses of exposed radiation were $0.27{\pm}0.04{\mu}Sv$ when controlling the table directly and $0.13{\pm}0.14{\mu}Sv$ when controlling the table remotely while performing QC. The average doses of exposed radiation were $0.97{\pm}0.36{\mu}Sv$ when guiding patient after injection and $0.62{\pm}0.17{\mu}Sv$ when guiding patient before injection. The average doses of exposed radiation were $1.33{\pm}0.54{\mu}Sv$ when using the control button located next to the patient and $0.94{\pm}0.50{\mu}Sv$ when using the control button located in far distance while acquiring image. As a result, there were statistically significant differences(P<0.05). Conclusion: From this study, we found that how much radiation doses technologists are exposed on average at each step of PET procedure while working in PET center and how we can reduce the occupational radiation dose after implementation of strategies to lower exposure. And if we make effort to seek any other methods to reduce technologist occupational radiation, we can minimize and optimize exposed radiation doses in department of nuclear medicine. Conclusion From this study, we found that how much radiation doses technologists are exposed on average at each step of PET procedure while working in PET center and how we can reduce the occupational radiation dose after implementation of strategies to lower exposure. And if we make effort to seek any other methods to reduce technologist occupational radiation, we can minimize and optimize exposed radiation doses in department of nuclear medicine.

  • Visual monitoring is hard to apply on fish because they are living in a water system. To overcome this problem, acoustic telemetry, which is effective for underwater monitoring, is often used for studying fish behaviors, such as movement distance, route and patterns. In this study, in order to monitor the movement pattern of Squaliobarbus curriculus (family Cyprinidae), we used acoustic telemetry and identified the home range and movement distances. A total of nine individuals were released at two different locations: one is at the estuary barrage (Sc1~3) and the other is at the lower part of Baekjae Weir (Sc4~9), located in Geum River. Approximately, a 70 km section from the estuary barrage was investigated. Fish, which were released at the estuary barrage, utilized up to 12.7 km upstream as home range from the release site. At the lower part of Baekjae Weir, most of the fish moved and stayed within a 7.2 km downstream area, except for Sc6, which moved 53.4 km (linear maximum distance from release site) downstream from the release site. Relatively small sized fish (Sc7~9) did not show any movement. Accumulated movement distance significantly correlated with the standard length of S. curriculus ($r_s$=0.715, p=0.03). Moreover, the standard length of moving fish was significantly larger than that of not moving fish (Mann-Whitney U test, p=0.024). Therefore, the movement distance of S. curriculus has been correlated with fish size; movement distance was increased with the standard fish length. Although the sample size of monitored fish was small, various meaningful data were collected by acoustic telemetry. Consequently, this technique could be a method available for effectively monitoring the behavior and ecology of native Korean and endemic species.

  • Purpose : This study was peformed for the evaluation of the feasibility and toxicity of hypofractionated radiation therapy for early glottic cancer Methods and Materials : From February 1999 to February 2000, 20 patients with Histologically confirmed Stage I, II glottic cancer were enrolled into this study. There were 18 males and 2 females, the median age of the patients was 59 years. The distribution of stage distribution was as fellows; T1aN0-16 patients, T1bN0-1 patient, T2N0-3 patients. Eighteen patients underwent laryngomicroscopic biopsy only, and two patients underwent laser cordectomy. All patients received radical radiation therapy (2.5 Gy per fraction, 24 fractions, total 60 Gy). Median duration of treatment was 36 days (range $31\~45\;days$). Results : Radiation therapy were well tolerated. Most common acute reactions were odynophagia and hoarseness, and these reactions resolved after radiation therapy. There were one case of RTOG grade 3 odynophagia $(5\%)$, six cases of grade 3 hoarseness $(30\%)$. Response of radiation therapy was evaluated one month after completion of treatment. All patients revealed complete response. During follow up, total three cases of treatment failure were detected. two cases were local recurrence in 10 and 13 months of radiation therapy and one case was local recurrence and distant metastasis in 2 months of radiation therapy. Conclusion : This hypofractionated radiation therapy schedule was feasible and effective for control of early glottic cancer But longer follow up time would be required to assess the long-term disease control and the late complication by shortening radiation therapy duration.

  • Rainfall characteristics in Korea are concentrated during the summer flood season. In particular, when a large amount of turbid water flows into the dam due to the increasing trend of concentrated rainfall due to abnormal rainfall and abnormal weather conditions, prolonged turbid water phenomenon occurs due to the overturning phenomenon. Much research is being conducted on turbid water prediction to solve these problems. To predict turbid water, turbid water data from the upstream inflow is required, but spatial and temporal data resolution is currently insufficient. To improve temporal resolution, the development of the Turbidity-SS conversion equation is necessary, and to improve spatial resolution, multi-item water quality measurement instrument (YSI), Laser In-Situ Scattering and Transmissometry (LISST), and hyperspectral sensors are needed. Sensor-based measurement can improve the spatial resolution of turbid water by measuring line and surface unit data. In addition, in the case of LISST-200X, it is possible to collect data on particle size, etc., so it can be used in the Turbidity-SS conversion equation for fraction (Clay: Silt: Sand). In addition, among recent remote sensing methods, the spatial distribution of turbid water can be presented when using UAVs with higher spatial and temporal resolutions than other payloads and hyperspectral sensors with high spectral and radiometric resolutions. Therefore, in this study, the Turbidity-SS conversion equation was calculated according to the fraction through laboratory analysis using LISST-200X and YSI-EXO, and sensor-based field measurements including UAV (Matrice 600) and hyperspectral sensor (microHSI 410 SHARK) were used. Through this, the spatial distribution of turbidity and suspended sediment concentration, and the turbidity calculated using the Turbidity-SS conversion equation based on the measured suspended sediment concentration, was presented. Through this, we attempted to review the applicability of the Turbidity-SS conversion equation and understand the current status of turbid water occurrence.

  • Knowledge for reflectance characteristic of interesting targets will provide us with actual application of remote sensing on agriculture. In this study, we have measured and analyzed reflectivity characteristics based on growing status from transplanting time to harvesting time. Rice paddies transplant into 3 fields at 20, May, 1999. Measurement of reflectivity characteristics were carried out with a portable spectroradiometer for frequencies from 300nm to 1100nm during the time period from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM of clear sky and calm a day. The measurements for a day repeated 3 times(also, 3 times to each measurement)for reliable values. In result, we found that averaged reflectivity of visible range has about 2.34% - 2.55% in blue region(400nm-498nm), about 5.05% - 6.01% in green region(500nm-598nm) and about 4.21% - 5.24% in red region(600nm-698nm). It must be noted that the more rice canopy grows, the more spectral reflectivity decreases in visible region. Also, we separated infrared region into two cases - One case is increasing region with 700nm-780nm, the other is fixed region with 800nm-1100nm. Averaged reflectivity of these regions has about 22.3% - 23.0% in increasing region, about 29.4% - 33.1% in fixed region. It must be noted that more rice canopy grows, the more spectral reflectivity also increases up to 23, Aug. in infrared region. After 23, Aug, the reflectivity has a tendency toward decrease.

  • [ $\underline{Purpose}$ ]: To evaluate the relationship between the expression of EGFR, p53, Cox-2, Bcl-2 and the clinical parameters of NPC (nasopharyngeal carcinoma) patients treated with radiotherapy with/without chemotherapy, and to determine if these could be used as a biologic marker. $\underline{Materials\;and\;Methods}$: This study retrospectively examined 75 NPC patients who were pathologically diagnosed at St. Mary's Hospital and Kangnam St Mary's Hospital from March 1988 to August 2002 and treated with radiotherapy with/without chemotherapy. The levels of EGFR, p53, Cox-2, and Bcl-2 expression were determined immunohistochemically. The relationship between the levels of EGFR, p53, Cox-2 and Bcl-2 expression and the H- E staining findings including the WHO classification, TNM stage, tumor response to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, disease free survival (DFS), and overall survival (OS) was analyzed. $\underline{Results}$: At a median follow up of 50.8 months (range: $5.5{\sim}201$ months), the 3 years OS rate and PFS rate were 68.7% and 68.2%, respectively. The five year OS rate and PFS rate were 53.5% and 51.1%, respectively. The median OS duration and PFS duration were 85.5 months and 61.1 months, respectively. The WHO classification correlated with the complete response rate, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis. The expression of p53 was associated with increased mitosis and poor overall survival. The expression of Bcl-2 correlated with the DFS and WHO classification. The expression of Cox-2 correlated with a poor overall survival and response rate in the lymph node. However, EGFR was not correlated with any factors. $\underline{Conclusion}$: These results suggest that the expression of p53, Cox-2, Bcl-2 plays role in predicting prognostic factors for NPC treated with radiotherapy with/without chemotherapy. However, further study on a larger number of patients will be needed to identify more useful biomarkers of NPC.
