Standard Work Process to Reduce a Risk of Track Exchange Work for Railroad (철도 운행선 변경작업의 리스크 저감을 위한 표준작업 프로세스 도출)

  • Since many resources are put into the work of changing the railway operation within limited time, it is important to have a specific work plan and safety management. For this reason, the work schedule is shared in advance, and parallel work is being carried out simultaneously by rail system, such as tracks, trolly wires, and signals. However, due to the nature of the transfer work, the work is carried out at night when the railway operation is finished, and many resources are put into the limited area of the operating line, so the risk of safety accidents and failure to change the operating line is recognized as high. Nevertheless, there is still not enough research done in korea regarding the operation line change construction. Therefore, this study is conducted a survey on the track exchange work of railroad for working people, and analyzed the results of the survey. Finally, a standard work process was suggested to reduce the risk of track exchange work.

A Vision Based Guideline Interpretation Technique for AGV Navigation (AGV 운행을 위한 비전기반 유도선 해석 기술)

  • AGVs are more and more utilized nowadays and magnetic guided AGVs are most widely used because their system has low cost and high speed. But this type of AGVs requires high infrastructure building cost and has poor flexibility of navigation path layout changing. Thus it is hard to applying this type of AGVs to a small quantity batch production system or a cooperative production system with many AGVs. In this paper, we propose a vision based guideline interpretation technique that uses the cheap, easily installable and changeable color tapes (or paint) as a guideline. So a vision-based AGV with color tapes is effectively applicable to the production systems. For easy setting and changing of AGV navigation path, we suggest an automatic method for interpreting a complex guideline layout including multi-branches and joins of branches. We also suggest a trace direction decision method for stable navigation of AGVs. Through several real-time navigation tests with an industrial AGV installed with the suggested technique, we confirmed that the technique is practically and stably applicable to real industrial field.

  • Given the daily tactical schedule, the purpose of the traffic management system is to develop operating plan that will achieve the stated schedule as best as possible. The operating plan has to be modified during the day because of occurring disturbance(e.g. delay, infrastructure breakdown, etc.) Conflict detection and resolution(CDRS) are aimed for adjusting the distorted schedule to tactical schedule. Our research separate CDRS into two hierarchy modules, line conflict control module and station conflict control module. We define the role of each modules and design the cooperative architecture. We suggest the conflict detection and resolution approach based on mathematical model. These results can be implemented as prototype modules.

  • This paper introduces a study of improvement for a defect diagnosis of the UM71C track circuit using on HSL. The track circuit on HSL has long operation section. Therefore, when the worker maintain, many times and efforts are spent. So, periodically, we have operated a inspection car. However, we don't know exactly the state changed of the inspection data when track circuit has defect. Actually, We fixed a sample area within operation section on HSL and performed the simulations for short circuit current that is reflected characteristic impedance and propagation factor. We compared the measuring data with the result of the simulation. Using verified simulation program, we estimated inspection data as the malfunction number and the change of capacity of compensation capacitor. These study need to secure of the safety as the train operation. Also, It needs to make a criteria of analysis for the maintenance through comparison simulation data and inspection data.

  • Autonomous Vehicles(AV) are considered as an alternative to solve various social problems. Many researches which are related to developing technologies and AV operations have been conducted vastly and on-going. However, there seem to be little studies on various influences of AI algorithm on driving installed in AV. This study aims to examine the impacts of the ethical decisions made by Utilitarianism-based AI in AV when the oncoming car crossed over the central line. It establishes scenarios about situation of encroaching a central line and analyzes traffic impacts of ethical decision made by AV. According to the results of the analyses, as th accident occurs, overall speed of traffic decrease. There is a negative impact on the traffic flow when AV made an Utilitarian-based ethical decision by changing the lane. However, when AV choose to collide head-on, there is a positive effect to relieve traffic flow with an assistance of CACC, equipped.

  • The application of spatial information has drawn significant attention from a wide range of industries. Railway spatial information facilitates the cooperation among related parties and improves the efficiency of asset management and operations. This study proposes the structure of Railway Object IDentifier(ROID) on railway spatial information. Current facility management and train operation are based on relative positioning system. Despite many advantages, relative positioning system causes serious problems such as the entire reconfiguration of positioning in the case of line change. Another major concern is the interface compatibility between individual facilities with different relative positioning. ROID based on absolute positioning addresses these issues, allowing the information exchange and convergence between independent parties. This study proposes ROID based on OID standard with object IDentifier and service object-oriented reference system. Our ROID employs the absolute positioning and the unique identifier, maintaining the compatibility with existing management system.

  • This paper is a study of testing on-board signalling equipment in advanced high speed rail at the maximum speed of 400km/h. The on-board signalling equipment in advanced high speed rail provides operating information to the driver when operating at ATC, ATS, and ATP sections, and maintains safety from driver oversight, signalling equipment malfunction, natural disasters and so on. Since the testing train performance of advanced high speed rail at 400km/h must include the function test of on-board signalling equipment, this thesis focuses on the function test of on-board signalling equipment and analyze the necessity of the test at the maximum speed. Finally, it is suggested to change some infrastructure and to use specific test methods to test the train performance at the maximum speed in high speed line ATC section.

Method for increasing rail operation capacity of capital high speed rail with expanding the high speed railway service (고속철도 서비스 확대를 위한 수도권 고속철도 확충 방안 고찰)

  • In 1998, because of the economic crisis called IMF Crisis in Korea, Kyungbu high speed railway project could run by modifying the original plan to open it as a 1st phase only by utilizing the existing railway lines from Seoul to Siheung and the other one from Daegu to Pusan. The modified plan includes that the line from Daegu to Pusan will be constructed as a second phase in next time. Starting railway operation with the changed plan, the combined application operation of high speed rail, passenger rail and freight rail was caused partly from Seoul to Siheung to run into capital area. As a result, the opinion for additional railway line construction is insisted continuously because the operation volume of passenger rail was forced to be reduced, the service quality of it was decreased and it became difficult to add new high speed services. Moreover, with regard to Honam high speed rail, the new construction plan of station in Kangnam metro area as a basement station for starting from Suseo was changed to the plan of turning out at Osong because of the economic effectiveness and this kept resident people in Kangnam metro area and southern Kyungki area unable to get the opportunity of high speed rail service benefit. After beginning of Kyungbu high speed railway operation, national transportation system developments are focused on high speed rail, and when the second phase construction of Kyungbu high speed rail, beginning operation of Kyungjeon line, Jeolla line double track construction, Honam high speed rail in 2014, is completed, the demand for high speed rail will be increased and it is unavoidable to make Kwangmyung station as a basement station and to reduce the number of passenger rail operation. At this moment, it is valuable to consider adding the railway line capacity in capital area to improve the transferring service for citizen who live in area without Kyungbu high speed rail station and to expand the service area from Kangbuk to Kangnam and southern Kyungki area. Accordingly, in this paper, the effective rail operation method, facility plan and the other issue to be reviewed for increasing capital high speed railway lines will be mentioned.

A Study on the Application of Extension Method in Railway Transition Curved Zone Considering Field Status (지형여건을 고려한 철도 완화곡선 연장방법의 적용성에 관한 연구)

  • Railway curved zone have crucial effects on the speed of train. Length of transition curve is one of the important factor for alignment compatibility estimation in this sections, this value is decided by running speed and Cant. In this study, the extension method of transition curve is evaluated, based on the alignment of Jang Hang-Line, investigated field conditions of the sections in the curves exist. This research result show that changing of transition curve was proved by necessary to approximately two thirds of the curved sections, and method of fixing central point of track centerline and changing radius of curvature minimize the maximum shift in track centerline and deviation of radius, and also may be effective method for alignment suitability and speed up in case overall improvement is difficult.
