Analyzing Efficiency in the Seoul's Urban Bus Industry Using Data Envelopment Analysis (자료포락분석기법(DEA)을 이용한 서울 시내버스운송업의 효율성 분석)

  • Using 1996 annual observations for 69 bus firms in Seoul, this paper measures firm-level efficiency with data envelopment analysis(DEA) and identifies firm characteristics indicative of differential efficiency in these firms with Tobit regression analysis. The paper then conceptualizes that these firms produce two kinds of output(city/seat bus kilometers or city/seat bus Passengers) using four inputs (labor vehicle, fuel and maintenance). The findings show that, on an average, these firms have only a little input saving potential of 0.9 percent, while not a little output increasing potential of 12.9 percent. On the other hand, it is discovered that these firms operate more efficiently with a lower ratio of maintenance employees to total employees. Furthermore, it appears that both the ratio of seat buses to total buses and average speeds positively affect efficiency in this industry.

  • The restructuring of Korean railway industry, separation of between train operators and an infrastructure manager, had been conducted in 2004 to increase the productivities of railway operations. However, the maintenance-staffs are still employed by Korail (train operator), not by the infrastructure manager, which led the maintenance of railway infrastructure to be conducted by the train operator. The infrastructure manager is now only taking care of financial transferring issues once the train operator requests expenses spent for facility maintenance. Such incomplete restructure may result in a lack of safety performance on railway operations as the roles and responsibilities are less likely to be assigned under the multiple train operators. Thus, this study proposes the way of structuring maintenance divisions and their roles and responsibilities to assure the safe work execution under the circumstance of multiple train operators on the same rail network.

  • 현재까지 마늘 생산의 생력기계화 작업체계는 확립되어 있지 않으며, 특히 마늘의 수확은 많은 노동력을 필요로 하여 마늘 생산비에 수확비용이 차지하는 비중은 매우 높다. 따라서 마늘 수확의 생력화를 위해 마늘수확기 개발이 시급한 실정이다. 마늘수확기의 개발을 위해 분석, 구명되어야 할 중요한 인자는 수확기의 소모동력, 작업성능, 메커니즘의 간결성과 편리성, 수확효율 및 수확후 처리 등에 관계되는 모든 인자들이 포함된다. 나아가 마늘수확기에 고려되어야 할 주요 작동부는 동력발생부, 동력전달부, 마늘수확부 및 이송부, 마늘 수확을 위한 전처리부 및 후처리부, 마늘수확기 운행에 필요한 운전부 등으로 나눌 수 있다.   • 국내외적으로 전자상거래 이용이 활성화됨에 따라 물류환경도 변화하고 있다. 또한 전자상거래 시대에 부합하는 물류서비스 경쟁도 가속화되고 있다. 업무환경이 현장에서 단순 반복 업무로 이뤄진다는 Logistics의 특성상 차별화 된 서비스를 위해 Mobile 기기를 도입한다는 것은 필수적인 추세가 되어 가고 있다. m-Logistics의 확산은 이제 시대의 흐름이되었으며, 따라서 모바일 환경에 대한 효과적인 대응전략은 기업의 수익과 비용감소에 직접적인 역할을 할 것이다. 물론 물류분야에 Mobile을 도입하여 그 효과를 최대화하기 위해서는 물류업무의 표준화, 모바일 기기의 기능강화, 무선통신 인프라의 확충, 기업투자비 경감등의 조건을 해결해야 한다는 선행과제가 있지만, 공차 운행으로 인한 물류비 절감과 유무선 통합 물류관리를 통한 업무 생산성 및 고객서비스 개선이라는 기대효과는 Mobile의 도입을 충분히 매력적으로 보이게 하는 요소인 것이다 이런 점에서 본 논문에서 제시하는m-Logistics환경에서 물류 서비스 중 가장 중요한 전자지불과 거래보안 서비스를 새롭게 제시하였다.

  • 최근에 철도의 고속화 운행이 유럽, 동아시아, 북아메리카에 이르기까지 빠르게 확장됨으로 인하여 수반되는 지반진동에 대한 문제가 관심이 되고 있다. 건설현장에서 널리 적용되고 있는 Deep Mixing 기술은 철도의 고속화에 따른 진동의 피해를 줄이는 방법으로도 사용되고 있다. Deep Mixing 공법은 특별히 설계된 장비를 사용하여 접착성재료와 통양을 혼합하여 생산된 기둥벽을 이용하는 지반개량공법이다. 본 논문의 목적은 유럽이나 일본에서 진동제어로 사용되어지는 최근의 Deep Mixing 공법을 종합 검토하고자 함이다.. 스웨덴과 일본의 현장계측 결과와 함께 해석적 수치적 해에 근거하여 개선된 지반의 거동을 해석 및 예측한다. 수치해석 결과는 Deep Mixing 공법의 진동저감에 대한 예측에 있어서 유용한 도구임을 보여준다.

  • Various tunnels such as road, subway, and railway are under construction and operation. Various types of linings are used for structural stability of tunnel structures, and concrete segment linings are mainly installed in TBM tunnel construction. In this paper, when a fire occurs in a tunnel, the impact on the concrete segment lining, which is the structure in the tunnel, and related standards, fire resistance evaluation and fire resistance method are investigated through literature review and related contents are presented. Through this, it is intended to provide an information for practitioners to secure the safety of concrete segment linings against tunnel fires.

  • Early maturing hybrids(Comet 80, Comet 85 and Linda) and mid-late maturing hybrid (Suwon 19) were grown at Suwon to study the influence of maturity, plant population, and sowing date (45, 55, and 65 days delayed from the recommended sowing date of Suwon 19) on the dry matter yields, percentage ears and TDN yields. Com was planted at the density of 60 x 20, 50 x 20 and 40 x 20 em. Dry matter yields were not significantly different between the early and mid-late maturing hybrids in the delayed sowing time, but significantly higher in 20 x 50cm of planting density in early maturing hybrids. As sowing was delayed to Jun. 22 ear content decreased from 40.3% (early maturing hybrid) to 6.7% (Suwon 19). This resulted in significantly 24.1% higher TDN yield in Comet 85 than in Suwon 19.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze transport efficiency of each of the 17 urban railway lines being operated by national public agencies using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and to seek strategies for improving efficiency of the urban railway system. The study identified the economies of scale derived from these values of efficiency and examined the effects on cost for free ride loss and profit of transport by the fare system as the external factor. At the time, Transport profits are estimated by two production factors such as the number of vehicles and service frequency derived from multiple regression. Finally, the measures to improve the efficiency were presented in terms of profitability in the national urban railway line by applying the values of efficiency derived from DEA to multidimensional scaling (MDS).

  • Researches on the emissions of greenhouse gases in the construction industry, which accounts for 40% of raw materials, 30% of energy consumption, and 30% of $CO_2$ emissions in the entire industry, are mainly focused on studies of LCA. However, it is assessed that $CO_2$ emissions are higher in construction sequence than in operation sequence. Also, it is considered that construction machinery using fossil fuel is a main factor causing environmental load in construction sequence. Therefore, this study analyzes the workload and engine RPM characteristics of the excavator which is the second largest number of registered construction machinery in Korea and the highest utilization rate in actual construction site. The excavator is divided into non-load states and load states where power is transmitted to the excavator. The exhaust gas is analyzed by a direct measurement method using PEMS equipment. $CO_2$ emissions are estimated by analyzing the relationship between RPM and exhaust emission characteristics according to the actual driving conditions. Additionally, we analyze the difference between $CO_2$ emissions of construction machine calculated by this study and $CO_2$ emissions calculated by using carbon emission coefficient.

Relative Efficiency of Taxi Services by Data Envelopment Analysis among Cities and Counties in Gyeonggi Province (DEA를 이용한 경기도내 시·군별 택시서비스 효율성 분석)

  • This study analyzes the relative efficiences through satisfaction on taxi services of thirty-one cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province. The DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) is used to measure efficiencies on the privately owned taxies and the corporate taxies respectively. Efficiency in the DEA is measured relative to the highest observed performance rather than against some average. Pyeongtaek, Pocheon, Osan, Yangpyeong, and Gapyeong have the highest efficiency in the private owned taxies. And Pyeongtaek, Pocheon, Osan, and Gapyeong have the highest one in the corporate taxies. These cities and counties have the ability to use less resources for equal efficiency relative to others. Rank-sum test proves that there is no statistical difference in efficiency between the privately owned taxies and the corporation owned taxies.
