인공현실감 기술을 이용한 자동차 주행환경의 개발

  • 본 연구에서는 인공현실감 기술을 이용하여 일종의 시뮬레이터라고 할 수 있는 자동차 주행환경을 개발하였다. 이 시스템은 Pentium PC에서 구현되었고 운전을 위하여 스티어링 휠, 클러치, 브레이크, 액 셀을 사용하였으며 속도출력을 위하여 스피드메타를 사용하였다. 이러한 입출력 장치를 하나의 통합된 모듈로 만들어서 8255 인터페이스 카드를 통하여 컴퓨터와 접속시켰다. 음향효과를 위하여 MIDI 인터페 이스, 샘플러, 스피커를 사용하였고 효과음은 샘플링하여 사용하였다. 이 밖에도 3차원 그래픽 디스플레 이를 위하여 CrystalEyes가 사용되었다. 가상세게 모델링을 위한 소프트웨어로는 Superscape VRT4.0이 사용되었다. 그래픽으로는 도심 시내 주행환경을 구현하였고, 모든 객체들은 실물 크기 비율로 그렸다. 자동차의 운전 메카니즘은 자동차 동역학을 모델링하여 계산하였다. 이러한 시스템은 주행시 운전자의 자세 및 생리신호를 측정하기 위한 환경으로 사용될 수 있으며 또한 교통안전표지나 신호등과 같은 도로 환경의 인간공학적 평가를 위해서도 사용될 수 있다.

Design and Implementation of Mobile Crowdsourcing-based Driver Assistance Systems (MC-DAS) (모바일 크라우드소싱 기반 운전자 지원 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • In recent years, there have been increasing interests in the mobile crowdsourcing that exploits multiple sensors, communication and user interfaces, and the computation power of widespread smartphones. In this paper, we present a novel mobile crowdsourcing-based driver assistance systems (MC-DAS) that crowdsource the sensor data of smartphone app having already passed a road segment, generate its profile information through a massive data processing, and forward this profile to the smartphone app of vehicle entering the road segment. Based on the MC-DAS platform, we also design and implement a new navigation system that advices the vehicle speed depending on the speedbump and on the road curvature profile. We expect that the proposed MC-DAS platform will be used as a platform for emerging new mobile crowdsourcing applications.

Determinants of Safety and Satisfaction with In-Vehicle Voice Interaction : With a Focus of Agent Persona and UX Components (자동차 음성인식 인터랙션의 안전감과 만족도 인식 영향 요인 : 에이전트 퍼소나와 사용자 경험 속성을 중심으로)

  • Services for navigation and entertainment through AI-based voice user interface devices are becoming popular in the connected car system. Given the classification of VUI agent developers as IT companies and automakers, this study explores attributes of agent persona and user experience that impact the driver's perceived safety and satisfaction. Participants of a car simulator experiment performed entertainment and navigation tasks, and evaluated the perceived safety and satisfaction. Results of regression analysis showed that credibility of the agent developer, warmth and attractiveness of agent persona, and efficiency and care of the UX dimension showed significant impact on the perceived safety. The determinants of perceived satisfaction were unity of auto-agent makers and gender as predisposing factors, distance in the agent persona, and convenience, efficiency, ease of use, and care in the UX dimension. The contributions of this study lie in the discovery of the factors required for developing conversational VUI into the autonomous driving environment.

  • 최근 차량용 블랙박스, 자동 운전 시스템, 어라운드 뷰 시스템 등과 같은 운전자의 편의와 안전을 위한 장치 및 시스템들이 개발되고 있다. 현재 운전자를 위한 보조 시스템으로 구글(google)의 자동 운전 시스템(Auto Car Driving System)과 현대 모비스(hyundai mobis)의 AVM 시스템(Around View Monitoring System) 등의 다양한 차량용 편의장치 시스템들이 등장했다. 위와 같은 다양한 ECU들을 관리하기 위한 서버 및 저장 장치 역할을 할 수 있는 고사양의 Car PC의 장착이 필수적이다. 기존의 AVM 시스템은 차량 주변을 실시간으로 제공하기 위해 임베디드 또는 별도의 차량용 네트워크를 통해 임베디드 시스템 또는 SoC(System On Chip)형태의 하드웨어 기반으로 개발되고 있다. 하지만 고사양의 Car PC 기반에서는 별도의 비용없이 소프트웨어로 구현이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 차량의 전 후 좌 우에 장착된 4대의 카메라로부터 입력된 차량 주변 상황을 한눈에 보여주는 AVM 시스템(Around-View Monitoring System)을 위한 카메라 보정 및 정합 처리 모듈 및 AVM 시스템을 Windows를 O/S로 하는 PC 내부에서 기존의 AVM 시스템을 이용하여 화면에 전 후 좌 우 버튼을 각각 만들어 버튼을 터치했을 때, 각 버튼에 해당되는 영상이 AVM 시스템과 함께 출력되도록 하거나 디스플레이에 Full 버전으로 출력되도록 S-UI(Smart User Interface)를 설계 및 구현한다. 제안하는 AVM 시스템과 기존의 AVM 시스템의 성능과 기능을 비교 분석함으로써 제안하는 영상 처리 모듈을 이용하여 추가 비용이 발생하지 않는 AVM 시스템의 구현 가능성을 검증한다.

  • Head-Up Display, an information-providing display, is a device that provides necessary information through a vehicle window for a driver when driving, with which the driver secures the visibility and acquires information necessary for driving. Head-up displays in early days were mostly installed in imported vehicles but increasingly, being installed in medium and large-sized domestic vehicles, they secures convenience of driving and information acquirement. The information display element of each of currently released brand cars not only has limits in consistency and in displaying interface but also reveals the limitation of a way to apply GUI, being applied to dot reflective form in terms of the technology type. Accordingly, this study draws real time information element described as necessary during driving through case survey and analysis, and aims to provide a user with new GUI guideline through transparent display technology recently developed based on results analyzed with priority of POI(Point of Interest) information.

Connectivity Management of a Pedestrian Smartphone App in the Cyber-Physical Intersection Systems (CPIS) (사이버-물리 교차로 시스템에서 보행자를 위한 스마트폰 앱의 연결성 관리)

  • In this paper, we introduce the concept of cyber-physical intersection systems (CPIS) which interconnects roadside units (RSU) located at the intersection, on-board units (OBU) of moving vehicles, and the smartphone apps, named the Smartphone Agent (SA). At the pedestrian mode of the SA, the connectivity management schemes, such as a location update and a handover control algorithm, are proposed to better support the CPIS services while minimizing the power consumption of the pedestrian's smartphone. We develop a real prototype of the CPIS, including RSU, OBU, and the SA. Based on the numerical results collected from a pedestrian moving around the Pusan National University campus, we validate that the proposed connectivity management schemes can improve not only the power efficiency of the pedestrian's smartphone, but also the quality of the CPIS services.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop the algorithm of human arousal inducing interface using steady-state visual evoked potential(SSVEP) and its verification through experiments. In order to develop the model, computer-based SSVEP program simulation is preliminary performed. From the results of the simulation, stimulus pattern is decided to checkerboard and SSVEP frequency range is set into beta wave (13~30Hz). After the experiment on proving the effect of SSVEP flashing stimulation while driving by installing it at the location of people mostly falling asleep in the highway, the result confirms that both during the night and the day, after SSVEP flashing stimulation, a wave Beta immediately increases and the subjects keep high stimulation for the 5 minute maintaining stage.

  • Recently, research activities to develop services for providing safety information to the drivers in fast moving vehicles based on various wireless network technologies such as DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communication), IEEE 802.11p WAVE (Wireless Access for Vehicular Environment) are widely being carried out. This paper presents a proof-of-concept model based on a robot-car for Dilemma Zone Decision Assistant Service using the wireless LAN technology. The proposed model system consists of a robot-car based on an embedded Linux OS equipped with a WiFi interface and an on-board unit emulator, an Android-based remote controller to model a human driver interface, a laptop computer to run a model traffic signal controller and signal lights, and a WiFi access point to model a road-side unit.

  • Using the ETC Service, it is now possible to charge a vehicle for driving pass a specific toll booth electronically, without the vehicle even having to slow down. The smart card and card reader used to collect tolls electronically have a serious problem which it dose not have a standard for the ETC system. In this paper, we suggest the ETC system using mobile phone to collect tolls efficiently instead of existing system which is consist of a Interface Module to connect between a mobile phone and OEE, a mobile phone to send the information of tollgate fees and OEE to communication with RSE of roadway in the vehicle. This primary focus of this system is the IM functions and protocol to assist of the existing mobile phone and OBE.

  • In this paper, a safe driving assistance system is proposed by detecting the status of driver's doze based on face and eye detection. By the level of the fatigue, safe driving system alarms or set the seatbelt on vibration. To reduce the effect of backward light and too strong solar light which cause a decrease of face and eye detection rate and false fatigue detection, post processing techniques like image equalization are used. Haar transform and PCA are used for face detection. By using the statistic of the face and eye structural ratio of normal Koreans, we can reduce the eye candidate area in the face, which results in reduction of the computational load. We also propose a new eye status detection algorithm based on Hough transform and eye width-height ratio, which are used to detect eye's blinking status which decides doze level by measuring the blinking period. The system alarms and operates seatbelt on vibration through controller area network(CAN) when the driver's doze level is detected. In this paper, four algorithms are implemented and proposed algorithm is made based on the probability model and we achieves 84.88% of correct detection rate through indoor and in-car environment experiments. And also we achieves 69.81% of detection rate which is better result than that of other algorithms using IR camera.
