Stable Bottom Detection and Optimum Bottom Offset for Echo Integration of Demersal Fish (저서어자원량의 음향추정에 있어서 해저기준과 해저 오프셋의 최소화)

  • This paper discusses methods for the stable bottom detection and the optimum bottom offset which enable to separate the fish echoes from the bottom echoes with echo integration of demersal fish. In preprocessing of the echo signal, the bottom detection has to be done stably against the fluctuation of echo level and the bottom offset has to be set to a minimum height such that near bottom fish echoes are included Two methods of bottom detection, namely echo level threshold method and maximum echo slope method were compared and analyzed. The echo level method works well if the ideal threshold level was given but it sometimes misses the bottom because of the fluctuation of the echo. Another method to detect the bottom which uses maximum echo slope indicates the simple and stable bottom detection. In addition, the bottom offset has to be set near to the bottom but not to include the bottom echo. Optimum bottom offset should be set a few samples before the detected bottom echo which relates the beginning of pulse shape and acoustic beam pattern to the bottom feature.

Combined Normalized and Offset Min-Sum Algorithm for Low-Density Parity-Check Codes (LDPC 부호의 복호를 위한 정규화와 오프셋이 조합된 최소-합 알고리즘)

  • The improved belief-propagation-based algorithms, such as normalized min-sum algorithm (NMSA) or offset min-sum algorithm (OMSA), are widely used to decode LDPC(Low-Density Parity-Check) codes because they are less computationally complex and work well even at low SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio). However, these algorithms work well only when an appropriate normalization factor or offset value is used. A new method that uses a CMD(Check Node Message Distribution) chart and least-square method, which has been recently proposed, has advantages on computational complexity over other approaches to get optimal coefficients. Furthermore, this method can be used to derive coefficients for each iteration. In this paper, we apply this method and propose an algorithm to derive a combination of normalization factor and offset value for a combined normalized and offset min-sum algorithm to further improve the decoding of LDPC codes. Simulations on the next-generation broadcasting standards, ATSC 3.0 LDPC codes, prove that a combined normalized and offset min-sum algorithm which takes the proposed coefficients as correction coefficients shows the best BER performance among other decoding algorithms.

  • Seismic reflection data was obtained by using 28 and 100 Hz geophones at the ground subsidence sites in an old coal mine area. Frequency spectrum of the geophone analyzed with offset revealed that 1) In the near offset ($1\~10m$), the signals in the 100 Hz geophone data contains higher frequency components (up to 300 Hz) than that of the 28 Hz (<200 Hz), 2) In the intermediate offset ($11\~39m$), although the 28 Hz geophone data showed very similar frequency characteristics as the near offset data, the 100Hz geophone data seemed to be contaminated by noise at high frequency zone (>200 Hz). In the far offset ($\geq40\;m$), the signals in both the 28 and 100 Hz geophone data are attenuated to noise level at high frequency Bone more than 150 Hz.

A method of Determination of Fracture Toughness of Reactor Pressure Vessel Steel by J Integral (J적분을 이용한 원자력 압력용기강의 파괴인성치의 결정)

  • The elastic-plastic fracture toughness($J_{IC}$) and fracture resistance (J-R curve) of SA508-3 alloy steel used for nuclear reactor pressure vessel are investigated by using CT-type specimens. Fracture toughness tests are conducted by unloading compliance method and multiple specimen method at room temperature, -2$0^{\circ}C$ and 20$0^{\circ}C$. The apparent negative crack growth phenomenon which usually arises in partial unloading compliance test is well known. The negative crack growth phenomenon in determining J sub(IC) or J-R cure from partial unloading compliance experiments may be eliminated by the offset technique. In this study, the evaluation of $J_{IC}$ multiple specimen method recommended by the JSME gives the most reliable results by using half-size CT(similar-type) specimens.

  • In this study a general method for computing offsets of free form curves is presented. In the method arbitrary free form curve is approximated with point series considering required tolerance. The point series are offset precisely using the normal vectors computed at each point and loop removal is carried out by the newly suggested algorithm. The resulting offset points are transformed to lines and arcs using the biarc approximation method. Tangent vectors for approximation of discrete points data are calculated by traditional local interpolation scheme. In order to show the validity and generality of the proposed method , various of offsettings are carried our for the base curves with complex shapes.

  • 무선 센서네트워크에서의 시각동기는 MAC 계층에서부터 APP 계층에 이르기까지 거의 모든 계층에서 다양한 목적을 위해 매우 중요한 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 무선 센서네트워크에서의 에너지 효율적인 시각동기를 위한 실시간 클럭 스큐 추정 방법을 제시한다. 재귀적 최소제곱법을 통해 오프셋 보정 정보들을 얻을 때마다 클럭 스큐가 실시간적으로 추정 및 갱신되며, 아울러 스큐 추정을 위해 각 센서노드에 저장해야할 정보를 최소화한다. 제안한 클럭 스큐 추정 방법은 기존의 클럭 오프셋 보정 방법과 쉽게 통합될 수 있으며, 이 경우 보다 정확하고 효율적인 시각동기화가 가능해진다. 시뮬레이션 및 실험 결과를 통해 제안한 클럭 스큐 추정 방법을 통한 시각동기 정확도의 향상을 보인다.

An Interchannel Interference Self-Cancellation Scheme for the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing System (직교 주파수분할다중화 시스템을 위한 채널간간섭 자기소거법)

  • Due to the frequency offset, interchannel interference (ICI) is occurred in the received symbols of the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The ICI self-cancellation (ICI-SC) technique appropriately adjusts the subchannel signal assignment of the OFDM symbols, thereby canceling the interference caused by other subchannels. The conventional adjacent symbol repetition (ASR) method can reduce the interference caused by remote subchannels. However, it may not mitigate or even increases the ICI produced by some nearest subchannels. To solve the problem, a new ASR based ICI-SC technique is proposed and its performance is analyzed in this paper. Here, a t-parameter obtained by the interference coefficients of 3 successive subchannels is applied. As a result, the proposed method has the same capability to reduce the influence of remote subchannels. However, it can reduce the ICI caused by the nearest subchannels significantly.
