  • In this study, it was studied about the improved road light design for drivers and pedestrians using forward or reverse ray-tracing method. Many of conventional road lights are not suitable for drivers and pedestrians because it has some serious problems such as glare effect or randomicity of illuminated areas. It was oriented from customary design method which was pointed at simple target such as luminance or electrical power. But it was not truth any more that the high luminance or electrical power consumption mean more bright and good road light. We studied ray-tracing method for road light reflector design to get the several goals. It means that good road light has easy for drivers and pedestrians eyes and illuminating objects on the road clearly. So, we set the design targets such as uniformity on the road area per one road light, shading angles and continuous luminance uniformity on the long distance road. We designed ideal road light conditions using ray-tracing method. We set the height of drivers and pedestrians eyes and calculated design guideline to make above design targets. Then we designed road light reflector using reverse ray-tracing method. And we achieved same luminance on the road almost half power consumption because we reduced loss of light. We achieved ideal design guide as 75 degrees of shading angles and 0.5 of luminance uniformity on the road area. It is superior than conventional road light ability such as 0.35 of luminance uniformity of 400 watts power consumption lamp. Finally, we suggested reflector design for 250 watts power consumption CDM Iight source.

  • Through Korean traditional opera (changgeuk) Medea, composer Hwang Ho-jun showed eclectic music idiom by 1) writing music (jakchang) on manuscript paper and score, 2) introducing the "song-through" format, 3) including various solo melodies, 4) maximizing the effect created by a singing narrator (dochang) with the chorus master and a mixed chorus, 5) seeking an interplay of tension and release by using both discord and chord, 6) achieving the effect of kil-bakkum, the Korean traditional method of modulation, through modulation and borrowed chord of Western music. In Medea, instrumentalists adopted suseong-banju (Korean traditional accompaniment) which does not spoil the voice of singers. Hwang adopted song for the way how singers express various hidden sides of play among song, aniri (narration) and balim (gesture) and introduced the Sung-through format in which the play is comprised entirely of song. In Medea, oral sounds expressing wail, lament, cheer, sneer and scream are often used and various solo melodies appear that fit for personalities of characters, clearly showing what bunchang (singers' singing songs divided according to characters) is all about. And discord and chord are effectively used according to the development and mood of play. Hwang also achieved successfully the effect of kil-bakkum by abandoning the traditional modulation method and boldly introducing modulation and borrowed chord of Western music.

  • Musical sheet recognition is an emerging area as the role of computers in music increases. Although there are several well-known programs for composition, they have a limitation in that they cannot edit or play music generated from other programs. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that can read, recognize, and play music using printed sheets. The proposed algorithm first removes lines using horizontal histogram and extracts symbols. The symbols belong to one of the three categories; notes, rests, and other signs. Notes are recognized using the context information and rests and signs are recognized using a fuzzy ART algorithm. The proposed algorithm were applied to 50 pages of musical sheets and the experimental results showed that it is effective in automatic recognition of musical sheets.

  • For music score recognition, several approaches have been proposed including shape matching, statistical methods, neural network based methods and structural methods. In this paper, we deal with recognition for low resolution images which are captured by the digital camera of a mobile phone. Considerable distortions are included in these low resolution images, so when existing technology is used, many problems appear. First, captured images are not stable in the sense that they contain lots of distortions or non-uniform illumination changes. Therefore, notes or symbols in the music score are damaged and recognition process gets difficult. This paper presents recognition technology to overcome these problems. First, musical note to head, stick, tail part are separated. Then template matching on head part of musical note, and remainder part is applied. Experimental results show nearly 100% recognition rate for music scores with single musical notes.

  • We consider the problem of estimating the parameters of heavy tailed distributions. In general, maximum likelihood estimation(MLE) is the most preferred method of parameter estimation because it has good properties such as asymptotic consistency, normality and efficiency. However, MLE is not always the best solution because MLE is unstable or does not exist in some cases. This paper proposes another parameter estimation method, non-linear least squares(NLS) and compares its performance to MLE. The NLS estimator is achieved by minimizing sum of squared difference between empirical cumulative distribution function(CDF) and a theoretical distribution function. In this article, we compare the NLS method to MLE using simulated data from heavy tailed distributions. The NLS method is shown to perform better than MLE in Burr distribution when the sample size is small; in addition, it performs well in a Frechet distribution.

  • Nowadays, logistics parks are no longer simply storage areas but rather the center of corporate supply activities. As the importance of logistics increases, so does the value of logistics related facilities. Unlike the past, in which the sole purpose of logistics services was the spatial movement of materials through transportation, modern logistics are required to carry out functions such as timely adjustment and swift adaptation to changing patterns, and this leads to the emphasis on forming logistics parks. Logistics parks make profits using the efficiency of time and space. Such logistics parks play an important role in a corporation creating operating profits as well as acting as a method of alternative investment for individuals. Logistics parks no longer simply store materials, but have become a place that plays an important role in various areas of corporate and individual activities, and thus the analysis of the selection of the location of logistics parks and the related characteristics is extremely important. There are many existing studies on the selection of locations of logistics parks but work on the factors related to location selection by industry seem lacking. As such, in the course of this study we have used preceeding studies to draft a questionnaire on which selection factors affect the selection of logistics park location in different industries and conducted empirical analysis of the questionnaire results to uncover the factors that affect the selection of the locations of logistics parks in different industries.

  • This essay talks about research of robust design for quality improvement of production procedure of Wet Etchant. It suggested the optimum design method in consideration of specific capability value that is the way to maximize the quality of product in the production system by using Daguchi parameter design method while finding factors affecting product quality with analysis of production system of product A from producer D. Also, it set long term of 6months as noise factor and let it to be the robust design that can find the optimum condition of control factor that is dull to the changes of each month, that is the change in noise factor. The control factor which affects the product quality is decided as combination method, temperature of raw material, combination time and as there are too many possibilities for combination methods, we performed 4 methods first based on previous research data then derived three ways with product that passed SPEC and set as the factor. As a result of application of optimum production procedure suggested in this essay to the actual production process with its standardization, there was a effect of drop of more than 10particles in comparison to the particle number of previous product and also it brought the effect that resulted the stable number of particle of under 30 that is what the client company suggested.

  • Methods for effective musical score recognition and efficient editing of musical scores are demanded because functions of computers for researches on musical activities become more and more important parts in recent days. In the conventional methods for handling musical scores manually, there are weak points such as incorrect score symbols in input process and requirement of much time to adjust the incorrect symbols. And also there is another weak point that the scores edited by each application program can be remodified by a specific application program only. In this paper, we proposed a method for automatic musical score recognition of printed musical scores in order to make up for the weak points. In the proposed method, staffs in a scanned score image are eliminated by horizontal histogram, noises are removed by 4 directional edge tracking algorithm, and then musical score symbols are extracted by using Grassfire algorithm. The extracted symbols are recognized by hierarchical ART2 algorithm. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we used 100 musical scores for experiment. In the experiment, we verified that the proposed method using hierarchical ART2 algorithm is efficient.
