An Analysis of Pre-Service Science Teachers' Argument Structures, the Factors Affecting the Practice of State Change Experiment in 7th Grade and Cognition of Pre-Service Education (중학교 1학년 상태변화 실험수행과정에서 나타난 예비과학교사의 논증구조 및 이에 영향을 미치는 요인과 예비교사교육에 대한 인식 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to research pre-service chemistry teachers' inquiry ability and perception on inquiry by analyzing their argument structure. Nine graduating senior students have participated in this study. They have experimented with mass change during state change, which is included in 7th grade science textbook. We have analyzed pre-service teachers' experimental reports using Toulmin's argument model. Also, we have researched their views on science and experiments through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. As results show, various factors have affected pre-services' argument structures; lack of science knowledge and inquiry ability, belief about error, and additive data. This study shows that pre-service teachers' inquiry abilities is insufficient, and it is necessary to review rearrangement of pre-service science teacher curriculum in order to offer inquiry experiments in teacher education program.

표준원전 모의 열수력 종합실험장치의 개념설계 및 저온관 소형냉각재상실사고 예비해석

  • 한국원자력연구소에서는 원자력중장기연구의 일환으로 한국형 표준원전을 모의하는 종합열수력실증실험을 계획하고 있으며, 현재 실험장치에 대한 척도해석(Scaling Analysis), 예비해석(Scoping Analysis) 및 개념설계를 수행하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 영광 3/4호기를 대상으로 척도해석을 통하여 실험장치를 개념설계하고, 저온관 6인치 소형냉각재 상실사고에 대하여 예비해석을 수행한 결과를 보여준다. 개념설계된 실험장치는 높이비가 참조원자로와 동일하고, 체적비가 1/200이다. 실험장치의 개념설계는 이상유동에 대한 3단계 척도법을 적용하였으며, 개념설계의 타당성을 입증하기 위해 RELAP5/MOD3.1 코드를 사용하여 정상상태 및 저온관 6인치 소형냉각재 상실사고시 계통의 거동을 예비 계산하였다. 실험장치에 대한 예비해석결과 사고 거동이 참조원자로와 잘 일치하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 수평관 및 주냉각재펌프의 척도기준이 사고의 진행과정에 영향을 미치는 중요한 인자로 밝혀졌다

  • 진공청소기의 인체적합도를 위주로 한 제품평가 방법을 개발하였다. 기존 감성공학에서 자주 사용해온 의미미분법을 근간으로 하고 다속성의사결정론 등을 가미한 평가방법이다. 30 개의 청소기를 대상으로 한 예비 평가실험을 통해 평가항목에 대한 요인분석을 실시한 후 평가항목을 설정하였으며, 평가항목과 상관관계가 높은 제품 속성들을 평가를 위한 설계요소로 설정하였다. 본 실험에서는 예비실험을 통해 개발된 평가방법을 이용해 30 명의 피실험자가 진공청소기를 대상으로 한 평가실험을 수행해 평가방법을 검증하였다.

  • 산불 진화에 사용되는 지상 주력 장비를 대상으로 수원으로부터 호스 거리 및 고도에 따른 성능을 정량화하기 위한 현장 적용 실험을 실시하였다. 대조군으로는 담수지 형태의 수원을 사용하고 수원으로부터 고도차가 40m 수준인 예비실험을 대상으로 성능값을 비교하였다. 본 현장 적용 실험에서는 산림 내 계곡지를 수원으로 하였으며, 고도차가 150m 로 예비실험의 3.75배인 지형을 선택하였다. 고도에 따른 영향이 크지 않은 예비 실험과 비교하였을 때 고도가 높아질수록 동일 거리에서 측정한 성능값은 평균 50% 이상의 감소를 나타내었다. 그러나 수평 및 수직 거리는 20% 이내 수준의 감소를 나타내어 진화에 큰 장애 요소로는 작용하지 않았으며, 펌프압력은 소형펌프의 압력 상승이 가장 큰 상승률을 나타내었다. 이와 같은 결과는 수원의 형태에 따라 용수 공급차에 기인한 것으로 안정적 용수공급 저하, 펌핑압 부하 증가, 이물질 삽입 등이 원인인 것으로 사료되며, 고도에 따른 영향 인자도 반영된 것으로 해석된다. 또한 실험을 통해 진화장비별 실제 진화대원의 적정 사용거리와 거리별 적정 소요인원을 산출할 수 있었다.

  • This paper aims to develop a Korea wind chill temperature index using an experimental method. For this, the researchers carried out a preliminary experiment in order to of for provisions necessary for the selection and safety of test participants, accuracy of experiment, and readiness for various situations that may occur during experiment. The researchers also investigated test subjects' safety and experiment conditions in which wind speed changes from calm condition into strong wind speed condition under the constant air temperature of $5^{\circ}C$. The results of this study are as follows. With regard to the variation of facial skin temperature such as forehead, cheek, nose, and chin, the skin temperature of cheek closely appears to depend on the change of air temperature and wind speed, exhibit a stable variation trend of skin temperature, and indicate the lowest temperature than any other facial parts. The skin temperature of women tends to be more sensitive than that of man and the skin temperature of human tends to decrease at weak wind speed under constant air temperature. It was also found that it is not necessary to take the influence of standard wind speed into consideration when a wind chill index is developed.

An Investigation on Pre-service Chemistry Teachers’ Difficulties in Practice of Inquiry-based Experiment (문제 해결 중심 탐구실험에서 예비 화학교사들이 경험한 어려움에 대한 연구)

  • Inquiry-based experiments provide opportunities to understand scientific knowledge and acquire nature of science. In this study, the difficulties which pre-service teachers experienced in inquiry-based experiment class were investigated and analyzed. Twenty-two pre-service teachers attended course designed as ‘ill-structured inquiry’ for 13 weeks, and researchers investigated their difficulties by questionnaires and interview. They showed difficulties mostly in designing experiment and interpretation and also in understanding inquiry purpose, lack of prior knowledge, confidence in inquiry performance, and understanding of experimental instruments and facilities. As a result, it is necessary to provide opportunities to engage in inquiries and environments to properly instruct pre-service teachers the inquiry ability in college of education.

Pre-service Elementary School Teachers' Understanding of the 'Fog' Generation Experiment Presented in the 2009 and 2015 Revision Elementary Science Textbooks (2009 개정 및 2015 개정 초등 과학교과서에 제시된 안개 발생 실험에 대한 초등 예비교사의 이해)

  • This study investigated the understanding of pre-service teachers in relation to the 'fog experiment' in the 5th grade 'Weather and Our Daily Life' unit of the 2009 and 2015 revised elementary school science textbooks. Pre-service teachers who participated in this study were 100 students, who are attending the university of education and taking courses in teaching research. After pre-learning about the 2009 and 2015 revised elementary school science textbooks and guide book, pre-service teachers conducted the experiment in groups. After that, the pre-service teachers individually presented answers to three questions, and the results of analyzing the answers are as follows. First, there were 24 (24%) preservice teachers who explained the difference in fog generation in the 2009 and 2015 revised curriculum with related scientific concepts such as condensation and water vapor, and only 1 (1%) of them explained the difference using the concept of saturation. Second, there were 48 (48%) pre-service teachers who found out the reason for the change in the fog experiment method according to the change in the curriculum. Third, pre-service teachers valued the reproduction and success of experiments rather than the importance of scientific knowledge, and such pre-service teachers suggested the use of alternative experiments or website.

The Longitudinal Effect of the Creative-Fostering Program for Pre-early childhood Teacher on their Problem Solving Ability and Self-Efficacy (예비유아교사를 위한 창의성교육 프로그램이 문제해결능력 및 자기효능감에 미치는 영향에 대한 단기종단연구)

  • The aim of this study was to examine the short-term longitudinal effect of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy. The participants of this study were 67 pre-early childhood teachers (36 from the experimental group and 31 from the control group) in Seoul, Kyunggi-do, and Chungcheong-do, Korea. Pre-early childhood teachers' problem solving ability and self-efficacy was measured three times. Data were analyzed with a $2{\times}3$ ($group{\times}test$) two-way analysis of variance for repeated measures. The change in problem solving and self-efficacy appeared to be dependent on the group and test. Further statistical analysis of the data indicated that the participation of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers was longitudinally effective on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy.

The Processing Unit in Korean Words (한글 낱말의 처리 단위)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the processing unit in Korean word.Three experiments were conducted to examine this question.Preliminary experiment and Enperiment I were executed to delineate the processing unit in singles syllable word and Experiment 2,for words two or more syllables.The major finding of the preliminary experiment showed that the effect of the consonant type was not significant but that of the letter position was.Reaction time increased as the position of letter increased.The difference in reaction time between the first and the second position was not significant.However,the difference between the second and third was.In the Experiment 1, the effect of the number of letter was significant: reaction time increased as the number of letters increased.The size of the position effect both in the preliminary experiment and Experiment 1was comparable.Result of Experiment 2 was such that regardless of the presence of the final consonant(s),the reaction time incresased linearly as the number of svllables increased from two to four. The findings of the present study suggest that:(1)processing unit in single syllable Korean words is a syllable without the final consonant(s):(2) but in words of two or more syllables,the unit is likely to be a syllable with the final consonant(s).

A Study of Pre-service Chemistry Teachers' Perceptions on NOS -Focusing on Boyle's Air Pump Experiment- (예비화학교사들의 과학의 본성에 대한 인식 연구 -보일의 공기 펌프 실험을 중심으로-)

  • In this study, we developed education materials using history of science related to the experiment of 'Boyle's air pump' and the Boyle and Hobbs' debate of vacuum to find out the perceptions of NOS by pre-service chemistry teachers. For the study, 29 pre-service chemistry teachers at a college of education in Chungcheongbuk-do were selected. As RFN items that were related to the contextual situation developed in this study, items in the categories of 'Aims and Values', 'Scientific practices', 'Scientific Methods among Educational Applications' and 'Social-Institutional Aspects among Educational Applications' were selected. Through the items of RFN, the perceptions of pre-service teachers in non-contextual situations were investigated. Then we presented the pre-service teachers with the situation related to Boyle's experiment on air pump and Boyle and Hobbes' debate over vacuum. In addition, their perception of NOS was examined in contextual situations related to RFN items. Responses to the items, experimental results related to Boyle's Law, group discussion, and interview data were collected as data. As a result of the study, it was found that pre-service teachers had informed perceptions in most of the items, but cases with naive views or mixed views were found in context experimental situations. This study can contribute to the NOS education for pre-service chemistry teachers by development of context situation education materials related to NOS and by finding out their perceptions in the non-contextual and contextual situation.
