Implications for Teacher Education through Pre-Service Science Teachers' Perception and Practice Cases on Online Formative Assessment (온라인 형성평가에 대한 예비 과학교사의 인식과 실행 사례를 통해 살펴본 교사 교육의 시사점)

  • This study aims to reveal what is necessary for pre-service science teachers to make good use of online formative assessment in the context of online classes. For 22 pre-service physics teachers, first, the preliminary perception of online classes, online formative assessment, and formative assessment was investigated; second, the practice process of online formative assessment was examined. Then the differences between perception and practice were compared and analyzed. Data were collected in preliminary surveys, lesson plans, online formative assessment items, and interview data. As a result of the study, an interaction was mentioned as the difficulty of online classes in the preliminary perception, and pre-service teachers mentioned the use of technology, feedback, and adjustment as advantages of online formative assessment. In most cases of practice, the automated feedback was used using the platform's technology, but it did not lead to adjustment and interaction. In addition, the use of items in online formative assessment was not suitable for formative functions. The reason why the interaction using formative feedback did not occur seems to be because the understanding of formative assessment was insufficient. Pre-service teachers need to be prepared for the 'formative' function through the feedback of online formative assessment so that can lead to interaction in online classes. The shift to online classes is creating difficulties, especially in interaction. It is necessary to prepare and educate pre-service teachers on fundamental aspects that can overcome these difficulties.

Development of Rapid-cycling Brassica rapa Plant Program based on Cognitive Apprenticeship Model and its Application Effects (인지적 도제 모델 기반의 Rapid-cycling Brassica rapa 식물 프로그램의 개발 및 적용 효과)

  • This study was intended to develop the plant molecular biology experimental program using Rapid-cycling Brassica rapa (RcBr) based on the teaching steps and teaching methods of the cognitive apprenticeship model and to determine its application effects. In order to improve a subject's cognitive function and expertise on molecular biology experiments, two themes composed of a total 8 class sessions were selected: 'Identification of DFR gene in purple RcBr and non-purple RcBr' and 'Identification of RcBr's genetic polymorphism site using the DNA profiling method'. Research subjects were 18 pre-service teaching majors in biology education of H University in Chungbuk, Korea. The effectiveness of the developed program was verified by analyzing the enhancement of 'cognitive function' related to the use of molecular biology knowledge and technology, and the enhancement of 'domain-general metacognitive abilities.' The effect of the developed program was also determined by analyzing the task flow diagram provided. The developed program was effective in improving the cognitive functions of the pre-service teachers on the use of knowledge and technology of molecular biology experiments. It was especially effective to improve the higher cognitive function of pre-service teachers who did not have the previous experience. The developed program also showed a significant improvement in the task of metacognitive knowledge and in the planning, checking, and evaluation of metacognitive regulation, which are sub-elements of domain-general metacognitive abilities. It was found that the developed program's self-test activity could help the pre-service teachers to improve their metacognitive regulation. Therefore, this developed program turned out to be helpful for pre-service teachers to develop core competencies needed for molecular biology experimental classes. If the teaching and learning materials of the developed program could be reconstructed and applied to in-service teachers or high school students, it would be expected to improve their metacognitive abilities.

  • 현재 국내에서 운용되는 해상용 항로표지는 기존 제품 보다 활용성이 크게 향상되었고, LED전구를 적용하여 운용기간도 연장되었으나, 고장시 대처방법이 없으며, 유지보수에 추가적인 비용이 발생하고 있다. 이와 관련하여 본 논문에서는 항로표지에 주광원과 예비광원을 동시에 형성하여 주광원 고장시 예비광원으로 운용이 가능한 LED 해상용 항로표지에 적용되는 제어회로를 개발하고 구현 하였다.

Functionality of Extracted Proteins by Additives and Ionic Strength (첨가제의 종류와 이온강도에 따라 추출되는 육단백질의 기능적 특성)

  • This study was investigated to determine the effect of additives and ionic strength on the functionality of extracted proteins in preblends in order to use less additive in restructured meat products. Preblends contained the combinations of sodium chloride (NaCl; 0, 4.5, 9.0%), sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP; 0, 2.5, 5.0%), and tetrasodium pyrophosphate (PP; 0, 2.44, 4.88%). The pH values increased linearly with increasing STPP and PP concentrations (p<0.01). In the equivalent ionic strengths, PP was more effective than STPP in increasing pH. Phosphate ions were more effective on total extractable protein (used 1 M NaCl buffer) than chloride ion at equivalent ionic strengths. Solubility was decreased by adding NaCl and increasing total extractable proteins. Meat sulfhydryl contents were high with increasing total extractable proteins. When protein extracts were heated at $65^{\circ}C$, 7 min, meat sulfhydryl contents decreased and surface hydrophobicity increased (p<0.01). However, all protein extracts showed no differences in SDS-PAGE pattern. In conclusion, PP is more effective than STPP in order to use less additive but there was no linear relationship between functionnal improvement and ionic strength.

  • Along with the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, fostering young talents with convergent mind is getting important. Moreover pre-service teachers' ability to design proper convergent classes can be a meaningful issue for high quality future education. This study proposes the role of professors' exquisite feedback is so significant for developing their competence in STEAM education, It analyzed how various theories regarding feedback support them to enhance convergent knowledge with e-learning. They participated in the 5 step group and individual activities for creating STEAM lesson plan and received suitable feedback. Lastly a survey was performed. The researchers did modeling how integrative feedback was applied to the procedure step by step according to the 'Ladder of Inference' theory. This strategic model contributed to elevating the participants' convergent knowledge, competence, achievement and satisfaction.

The Effect of Speed-Change Gait Training on Cardiopulmonary Function of Stroke Patients (속도변화 보행 훈련이 만성 뇌졸중 환자의 심폐기능에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the changes in the cardiopulmonary functions of stroke patients by adjusting the s heart rate during walking training. This study was conducted on 20 chronic stroke patients. The experimental group conducted walking training by varying the walking speed according to the change in heart rate on the treadmill. In contrast, the control group conducted walking training by the subjective speed of the subject. The walking training was conducted for 32 minutes, three times a week, for a total of six weeks. The changes after the intervention of the subjects were determined by measuring the VC, ERV, IRV, FVC, FEV1, and PEF. The study revealed interactions between the groups and timing in the VC, ERV, and IRV(p<.05). There were no interactions between the groups and timing in FEV1, FVC, and PEF. The main effects showed no significant differences between the groups (p>.05) but showed significant differences between periods (p<.05). These results suggest that the cardiopulmonary function was improved significantly when the training was conducted by changing the pace of the heart rate in the walking process, leading to significant changes in the cardiopulmonary function.

  • 허혈성 심질환 환자의 평가도구로서 MRI의 역할이 확대된 데에는 소위 "one-stop shop"이라는 통합적 심장검사법의 개발이 계기가 되었다. 즉 한 번의 MRI 검사로서 심실벽운동을 평가하여 심근의 기능과 예비능을 측정하여 만성 심근경색을 평가할 수 있고, 심근의 관류를 평가할 수 있고, 관동맥의 혈류 예비능과 심근의 viability를 평가하고, 관동맥 조영술을 통해, 수술 후의 우회로 평가 및 관동맥의 협착 여부의 진단이 가능한 프로토콜이 MRI장비마다 각각 개발되어 보급되고 있다. 하드웨어와 소프트웨어의 개발과 지속적인 연구를 통해서 MRI는 허혈성 심질환의 진단적 검사로서 기존의 다른 검사들과 비교하여 높은 시간적, 공간적 해상력으로 정확한 구조와 기능의 평가를 제공할 수 있는 가장 유용한 검사가 될 것으로 사료된다 특히, MR 관동맥조영술, 심근관류검사, 심근 표지법, dobutamine 부하검사, viability 평가, plaque characterization, MR spectroscopy 분야에서 현재 활발히 연구가 진행되고 있으며 향후 임상적용이 확대될 것으로 예상된다.

The Effect of Depressive Symptoms on Cognitive Function in the Elderly: Moderation Effect of Education (노년기 우울이 인지기능에 미치는 영향: 교육의 조절효과)

  • Geriatric depression is associated with pathological changes in the brain and increases the risk of cognitive impairment or dementia. However, high cognitive reserve, such as high education, can delay or minimize clinical manifestations of pathologies involving the brain, so the effect of geriatric depression on cognitive impairment or dementia may vary depending on the education level. In this study, the author analyzed data from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA) to examine whether the effect of geriatric depression on cognitive function differed depending on education level. Among the 10,254 subjects registered in the KLoSA, the 4,905 subjects who met the inclusion criteria were analyzed by stepwise regression analysis. The results were as follows: first, depressive symptoms predicted low cognitive function after 12 years; second, the negative effect of depressive symptoms on cognitive function after 12 years was higher in the old adult group than in the young adult group; and third, the effect of age was significant only in the low-educated group. These results suggest that depressive symptoms in low-educated old adults may increase the risk of development of dementia in the long term.
