This paper proposes 'postfilimc metamorphosis' and 'reanimation' as two concepts that aim at giving account to the aesthtetic tendencies and genealogies of what Suzanne Buchan calls 'pervasive animation', a category that refers to the unprecedented expansion of animation's formal, technological and experiential boundaries. Buchan's term calls for an interdisciplinary approach to animation by highlighting a range of phenomena that signal the growing embracement of the images and media that transcend the traditional definition of animation, including the lens-based live-action image as the longstanding counterpart of the animation image, and the increasing uses of computer-generated imagery, and the ubiquity of various animated images dispersed across other media and platforms outside the movie theatre. While Buchan's view suggests the impacts of digital technology as a determining factor for opening this interdisciplinary, hybrid fields of 'pervasive animation', I elaborate upon the two concepts in order to argue that the various forms of metamorphorsis and motion found in these fields have their historical roots. That is, 'postfilmic metamorphosis' means that the transformative image in postfimic media such as video and the computer differs from that in traditional celluloid-based animation materially and technically, which demands a refashioned investigation into the history of the 'image-processing' video art which was categorized as experimental animation but largely marginalized. Likewise, 'reanimation' cne be defined as animating the still images (the photographic and the painterly images) or suspending the originally inscribed movement in the moving image and endowing it with a neewly created movement, and both technical procedues, developed in experimental filmmaking and now enabled by a variety of moving image installations in contemporary art, aim at reconsidering the borders between stillness and movement, and between film and photography. By discussing a group of contemporary moving image artworks (including those by Takeshi Murata, David Claerbout, and Ken Jacobs) that present the aesthetic features of 'postfilmic metamorphosis' and 'reanimation' in relation to their precursors, this paper argues that the aesthetic implications of the works that pertain to 'pervasive animation' lie in their challenging the tradition dichotomies of the graphic/the live-action images and stillness/movement. The two concepts, then, respond to a revisionist approach to reconfigure the history and ontology of other media images outside the traditional boundaries of animation as a way of offering a refasioned understanding of 'pervasive animation'.
Art has evolved into remarkable changes in its art form maintaining a close link with the contemporary scientific technologies that gave birth to new tools of expression in each era. Animation is an art form in an inextricable connection with technological aspects because it was spawned by the technical background like movies. In this regard, animation is often viewed very strongly by technical advancements in terms of an aesthetic approach. John Whitney Sr., one of the pioneers in computer graphics arts, turned his attention to the new technology called computer graphics as a means to visualize images and movement. The advent of a new medium had a strong influence not only on tools and means for novel expression but also on the gradual shift in thinking about arts and even the audiences' taste. In the 1980s, animation was combined with computer technology and the rapid progress of computer graphic technology opened up the era of new visual aesthetics, Today, the development of digital technology presents a different dimension of realism, either advocating hyperrealism by digital actors or presenting new illusionism by classic cartoon characters emphasized in a distortion or metamorphosis from a real life in order to consolidate animation realism. Based on the two perspectives mentioned above, this study can identify methods of digital character appropriation focused on the works of the ACM SIGGRAPH Asia and find how the relationship between art and technology has changed the digital realism and evolved the digital character as the digital technology has developed.
This paper summarizes some of the contents of the 7th International Symposium "Classical Art and Digital" of the Transmedia Institute(TMI), held on October 31, 2017. The purpose of this year's International Symposium was to look back on the genre and the aesthetic history of classical art and to create a place for discourse about the recognition of classical art in the modern digital era. In the first part of the discussion about the duplication of the original and virtual imitation, three presentations on "Visual Image Art and Digital" were introduced. The conclusion of this first discussion is summarized by urging the movement of viewpoint as 'systematic change of the routine aesthetic process'. In the second part on "Performing Arts and Digital", we realize that we need to definitize the 'new directive term system' necessary for the era of digital convergence and performance. In this process we can refer to the need for the emergence of a new aesthetic basis. Two papers in the second part of the paper will introduce the study of 'dance' performance. Some of these studies are reintroduced at the conclusion. The theme of this year's International Symposium can be expected to provide a foothold for the forthcoming second 'Laocoon sculpture argue'. In short, behind the various controversies in the history of aesthetics, this year's conference is concluded with a call for the need to flexibly read the enormous flow of 'art' and 'mental heritage left by art'. It is said that this year's international conferences are presenting the basis of practical and systematic theories for the upcoming fusion media era.
Mr. Folman, an Israeli director, used a highly stylized form of animation in a decidedly adult way to make his documentary about the 1982 war in Lebanon, "Waltz With Bashir," in 2008. After 5 years, he has used another distinctive approach, fusing animation with live action in his latest film, a trippy and surreal undertaking called "The Congress." He dismantled the means through parodies, the core of post-modernism art and built a new meaning to create a unique world view and unique aesthetics. In this study, parodies of the modern concept of post-modernism being used as a major strategy in the creation of art have appeared the four characteristics of post-modern parody: 1) intertextuality, 2) dissolution and fusion of genres, and 3) strengthening of irony, and 4) pastiche. This study is characteristic of post-modern parody that discusses the relevance of contemporary parody and postmodernism being developed by analyzing how they appear on the practical work. Furthermore, through analysis of "The Congress", this study discusses the post-modernist world view and the creative way of creating an experimental art with parody.

Chinese Tibetan Opera is a highly comprehensive drama type, which combines the educational aesthetic characteristics of the realism of Western drama and the freehand of Chinese opera, including mask play, square play, ritual play and religious play. Tibetan opera, as a kind of local drama, has high research value, which is determined by its educational aesthetic characteristics. The world's three major dramas include Sanskrit dramas in India, tragic-comedies in ancient Greece and Chinese dramas, which have different forms of expression and educational aesthetic characteristics. Because of the particularity of its birthplace, Tibetan Opera inherits some of the three forms of the above three dramas. Ancient Greek tragedies originate from the sacrificial ritual of the god of wine. In the early ceremonial action performances, the actors were all men and needed to wear masks to perform. In Tibetan opera, men also play a role in masks, which are originated from the folk totem dance and religious pantomime music and dance. Due to the long history of Indian Sanskrit drama, except for the relevant records in dance theory, the specific performance form can not be verified. However, according to the relevant records in dance theory, the three characters "Wenba", "Jialu" and "Lamu" in the opening play of Tibetan opera are similar to the "concept character play" in Sanskrit opera. Tibetan Opera is a very important part of traditional Chinese opera, which inherits the educational aesthetic characteristics of Chinese opera.

Performing arts, for instance, theatre and dance that perform on the stage, should recognize the contemporary characters and also emphasize the trend of the times. Thus, the subject of those varies and provides the audience diversity contents and style. People who perform those try to put the contemporary characteristic and sociality into their stage by utilizing new technology for their stage to be more sophisticated in aesthetic and philosophic aspects. According to the trend of the times, science and technology have been making great progress. As a result, the stage technology continues to develop, contributing to enhance the aesthetic and philosophical completeness of the performing arts. Also, there are technical and formal researches or methods constantly that make the performing arts new and diverse. Therefore, it can be said that it is very important to widen a category of the performing arts that amplify the actor's acting and emotions on the stage and then give the audience an experience. This paper will analyze in the way which various image techniques utilize to widen the actor's technique in the performing arts and the actor's technique progresses in the era called the Fourth Industrial Revolution era that grafts the art onto new media. Through this paper, in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a new paradigm in actor's acting which is becoming a hot topic in performing arts is predicted and anticipated.
The underlying impetus of the birth of animated film is attraction about a moving image. And the animation image occurs from the process of performative relationship between an animator and apparatus. Therefore, analysing the method how the moving image is constructed will be the focal starting point to deal with an animated film as a text. In this context, that conveys the theme in more sensuous way will be examined in a dimension of the material, technique and image-making method. KIM Jin-man's is a Stop Motion Animated Film with Noodlescreen about a journey of a fish that wishes to go outside of the water. KIM created original and friendly images out of plain thin noodle which is a common ingredient in Korea, and dealt with the ontological introspection based of the concept of Nondualism. Nondualism based on the interconnected and cyclical eastern philosophy which is different from the western dualistic theory points to the idea that the universe and all its multiplicity are ultimately expressions or appearances of one essential reality. This paper focuses on KIM's recent work and sees how Nondualism is applied throughout the animated film by analysing the performative method of mediums, technique, and structure. First of all, the form of Noodlescreen will be reviewed in Chapter Two. Pinscreen Animation which was invented by Alexander Alexeieff and Claire Parker will be also compared with Noodlescreen in the aesthetic viewpoint here. In Chapter Three, it will be analysed how the description of the image of binary opposition itself provides expanded sense and rich metaphor. Lastly, the format of Mise-en-abyme going constantly towards outer space will be dealt how it exposes the cinematic illusion and spatiality in Chapter Four. Throughout the whole chapters, it will reviewed how the concept of Nondualism relates the images of and deactivate the boundary of binary opposition in terms of both the story development and the visualization method. By this methodology, it will be confirmed that image of animated film not only explains the narrative but also activates the perception about the theme and provides integrated sensory experiences in the independent and expanded dimension.
In terms of the story told, we see that Oh! Soojung(Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors) is a film of the ideololgy of masculinity. However, from the point of view of the manner of presenting story, Oh! Soojung is a film that aims to devalue this ideology. How will it be possible? This is the principle of the irony that the speaker, by saying P, wants to make Q listen that devalues and contradicts P. Our study is tempted to explain the process of interpreting the irony in the film. The ideology of the film occurs when the presupposed contents have become the subject. For example Cendrion who tells a story of a girl married to a prince presupposes that the girl, Cendrion, is obedient. The subject of this story is that the presupposition: /the girls who want to be happy must be obedient/, which represents the ideology of masculinity. Presupposed content thus imposes on the public a collective and conservative value, as its enunciator belongs to the collective voice. Since ironisation occurs when the utterance itself is annulled, one must also deny or cancel the story told of Oh! Soojng: /Jeahun who is rich and Soojung who is obedient and virgin have become lovers/. Since there is no semantic mark within the utterance, irony is a voice that comes from without; this is how we understand irony in a purely pragmatic way. The outer voices are two things: the way to build the story: question of focusing, ocularization and auricularization, and the way to present the story: question the order, the frequency or the plot. Our study is focused on the question of frequency at Oh! Soojung which has a repetition structure in which the memory of Jeahun and that of Soojung are represented one after the other. Since the memories of two characters are not identical, the repetition is accompanied by differences. The differences at first allow the public to build their own story from the di?g?se of the film and then make the audience fall into confusion where we can not be certain of what we see and know in the di?g?se of the film, and finally make their knowledge questionable. About repetition, so that it can have validity in terms of the informativeness of the utterance, it must deny the existence of the previous repetition. This is how repetition cancels itself and consequently the utterance. We see that the irony of Oh! Soojung occurs by repetition with differences that cancels the story of the film.
A variety of writing support systems focus on the information management or the feature analysis of the commercially successful narrative texts. In these approaches, the reader's role in the narrative creating process is overlooked. During a writing work, an author anticipates the reader's response or expectation to the narrative and he/she organizes the narrative either along or against the prediction about readers. Assessing and controlling the reader's comprehension in the development of events influences the aesthetic quality of the narrative. In this paper, we suggest a writing support system to visualize and adjust the characteristics of a narrative text related to the reader's comprehension, which is theoretically based on the narrative structure model and the event-indexing situation model. Under the development of the support system, we designed an interactive framework to create events as the basic units of story and arrange them onto both story- and discourse-time axes. Using this framework, we analyzed the organization of events about an actual film narrative. We also proposed both the continuity of the situational dimensions and the cognitive complexity as the characteristics to affect the reader's comprehension, hence we devised a method to visualize and evaluate them. This method was applied to the actual film narrative and the result was discussed in the aspect of the features of the narrative and wiring support strategies.
There has been discussed very little about animation authorship studies, especially the themes of authors and their original animation texts since 1990s. This study is to explore the academic discourse of animation authorship studies understanding the media aesthetics of animation and the scholarly approach of animation studies about authorship. This article examines 55 articles via meta analysis about animation authorship studies drawn from the 1,516 articles on the general animation studies. The results were as follows. First, the domestic animation studies on the authorship were made about animators of Japan, US, and european countries. Second, It was dominant that scholarly interest on the screen direction and visual expression of animation texts. This shows the authorship approaches were mainly about visual aspects of animations. The domestic animation authorship studies did not trace the authorship issues on author's world view and visual style revealed in the corpus of texts. Instead, they discussed authorship issues on the characteristics of individual animation text. It has been evident that animation studies were not enthusiastic about building the independent theory on animation. Therefore, animation studies have tried theorizing the animation issues borrowing the literature and film theories. This study can contribute to increase phase of animation studies by drawing the intensive discussion of animation authors and their authorship.
