Construction of Korean Wordnet "KorLex 1.5" (한국어 어휘의미망 "KorLex 1.5"의 구축)

  • The Princeton WordNet (PWN), which was developed during last 20 years since the mid 80, aimed at representing a mental lexicon inside the human mind. Its potentiality, applicability and portability were more appreciated in the fields of NLP and KE than in cognitive psychology. The semantic and knowledge processing is indispensable in order to obtain useful information using human languages, in the CMC and HCI environment. The PWN is able to provide such NLP-based systems with 'concrete' semantic units and their network. Referenced to the PWN, about 50 wordnets of different languages were developed during last 10 years and they enable a variety of multilingual processing applications. This paper aims at describing PWN-referenced Korean Wordnet, KorLex 1.5, which was developed from 2004 to 2007, and which contains currently about 130,000 synsets and 150,000 word senses for nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and classifiers.

Accuracy Improvement of an Automated Scoring System through Removing Duplicately Reported Errors (영작문 자동 채점 시스템에서의 중복 보고 오류 제거를 통한 성능 향상)

  • The purpose of developing an automated scoring system for English composition is to score English writing tests and to give diagnostic feedback to the test-takers without human's efforts. The system developed through our research detects grammatical errors of a single sentence on morphological, syntactic and semantic stages, respectively, and those errors are calculated into the final score. The error detecting stages are independent from one another, which causes duplicating the identical errors with different labels at different stages. These duplicated errors become a hindering factor to calculating an accurate score. This paper presents a solution to detecting the duplicated errors and improving an accuracy in calculating the final score by eliminating one of the errors.

Predictability effects on speech perception in noise (SPIN) in Korean (한국어 소음속말인지에 나타나는 예측성 효과)

  • This study investigates speech perception in noise (SPIN) in Korean. A new type of Korean SPIN test was developed by adopting a similar format to the English SPIN test. The predictability effects, noise effects and their interactions were examined in order to verify the previous findings based on English. The data from 14 Korean adults collected with this new type of Korean SPIN test confirmed the previous findings: first, the participants' overall performance was better in low noise conditions than in high noise conditions. Secondly, there was a tendency for highly predictable words to be more accurately perceived than less predictable words especially in high noise conditions. The results were interpreted in such a way that the listeners actively used both types of information: acoustic information and contextual information in speech perception. When the acoustic property of the speech sound was degraded with noise, the listeners took advantage of the linguistic contextual information in their processing of the speech sound. The findings of this study conform to those of the previous studies based on the English SPIN test. In addition, a possible effect of the frequency of target word was also found, calling for further investigation in this field of research in Korean. Implications of the results were also discussed.   • In developing a Korean database interfacing system exist many difficult problems which are not usually pointed out in developing an English version. Basically the difficulty in implementing deep level Korean database interfacing system lies in the fact that Korean has fewer syntactic restrictions. This means that while less burden will be placed on semantic analysis more burden will be placed on contextual processing for Korean when compared to English. This paper discusses various difficulties which we came across while developing a prototype Korean DB interfacing system (the Korean Core L Language Engine) especially focusing on issues of representing and resolving Quasi Logical Forms.

Processing Three Types of Korean Cleft Constructions in a Typed Feature Structure Grammar (유형화된 자질문법에서의 한국어 분열구문의 전산학적 처리)

  • The expression KES, one of the most commonly used words in the Korean language, has various usages. This expression is also used to express English-like cleft constructions. Korean seems to employ at least three different types of cleft constructions: predicational, identificational, and eventual. The paper tries to provide a constraint-based analysis of these three types of Korean cleft constructions and implement the analysis in the LKB(Linguistic Knowledge Building) system to check the feasibility of the analysis. In particular, the paper shows how a typed feature structure grammar, couched upon HPSG, can provide a robust basis for parsing Korean cleft constructions.

  • The maritime mobile communication system has been changing to the new system that is facilitated by the radio telex, digital selective calling and maritime satellite communications from the old system by the radio telegraphy and telephone according to the GMDSS. The NBDP using the ITA No.2 code is a useful media in the maritime communications and provides the procedures of telex. Also it can provide the efficient and more useful functions and the solutions for the incremental traffic requirements by adopting the Hangul code. So, in this paper, we proposed the new Korean NBDP code for the ITA No.2 code, designed and implemented the algorithm which is the processing of the Hangul NBDP code using the microprocessor.

  • 한국어에서의 품사 결정 문제는 형태론적 중의성 문제도 있지만, 영어에는 발생하지 않는 동품사 중의성 문제로 더 까다롭다. 이러한 문제들은 어휘 문맥을 고려하지 않고서는 해결하기 어렵다. 통계 자료 부족 문제에 쉽게 대처하는 모델이 필요하며 문맥에 따른 품사를 결정하고자 할 때 서로 다른 형태의 여러 가지 어휘 문맥 정보를 반영할 수 있는 모델이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이런 점에 가장 적합한 최대 엔트로피(maximum entropy : ME) 모델을 품사태깅 작업에 이용하는 문제에 대해 다룬다. 어휘 문맥 정보를 이용하기 위한 자질함수가 매우 많아지는 문제에 대처하기 위해 필요에 따라 어휘 문맥 정보를 사전화 한다. 본 시스템의 특징으로는 어절 단위 품사 태깅을 위한 처리 기법. 어절의 형태소 분석열에 대한 어절 내부 확률 계산. ME 모델의 정규화 과정 생략에 의한 성능 향상, 디코딩 경로의 확장과 같은 점들이 있다. 실험을 통하여 본 연구의 기법이 높은 성능의 시스템을 달성할 수 있음을 알게 되었다.

  • 최근 국내 과학기술분야 학회에서는 발행 학술지를 세계적인 학술지로 등재하고자 하는 노력이 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라, 해외연구자들을 학술지 편집위원으로 참여 시키고 많은 해외 연구자들이 자체 학술지에 논문을 많이 투고하도록 독려하고 있다. 해외 연구자들간에 이메일로 투고 심사를 처리하고 심사 총평을 작성하는 논문투고심사 프로세스는 심사 이력이 관리도 안 될 뿐만 아니라 논문투고 심사 진행 상황을 알 수 없음으로 인한 이용자의 불편함, 시간적 비효율성 등의 많은 단점이 있다. 이에 KISTI는 해외 연구자들이 학술지 생산을 위한 학술활동 전 과정에 참여할 수 있도록 하고자, 학술지를 체계적으로 운영하고 투명한 상호심사(Peer Review) 과정을 포함하는 학술지 전자 출판과정을 온라인으로 처리하고 모든 메뉴 용어를 국제적인 수준의 영어로 기술한 영문 Article Contribution Management System(ACOMS Ver. 4.0)를 개발하였다. 영문ACOMS는 기존 국문 ACOMS와 달리, 학술지 홈페이지를 포함하고 있으며, 저자와 편집위원 혹은 저자와 판사 간의 온라인 논문 교정 프로세스가 들어가 있다. 영문 ACOMS는 2012년 현재에도 국제적인 시스템으로 거듭나기 위해 지속적인 기능개선을 추진하고 있다. 개발된 영문 ACOMS 기능에 대해 살펴보고, 향후 개선방안에 대해 기술한다.

  • Edutech is a compound word of education and technology, and is an educational paradigm in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. This refers to next-generation education using information and communication technology (ICT) such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI), robots, and virtual reality (VR) of the 4th industrial revolution. e-Learning is being used as an online lecture for education in ICT, but edutech is attracting attention along with e-learning as the feeding of non-face-to-face education has rapidly increased due to COVID-19. Therefore, this paper summarizes the reviewed papers on the blockchain-based badge service platform, simulation-based collaborative e-Learning system, video English dictionary, and blockchain-based access control audit system.

  • 본 논문은 지식경제부의 지원 하에 한국전자통신연구원 언어처리연구팀에서 2010년에 개발하고 있는 패턴기반 영한 메신저 대화체 문장 번역 시스템에 관한 것이다. 본 논문의 목표는 문어체 문장 위주의 패턴기반 영한 웹문서 자동번역 시스템을 대화체 문장 위주의 패턴기반 영한 메신저 자동번역 시스템으로 전환하고자 할 때, 특화하는 방법 및 모듈에 관해 기술하는 것이다. 영어권 Native speaker로부터 수집한 메신저 대화체 문장을 대상으로 번역률을 평가한 결과, 문어체 위주의 영한 웹 자동번역 시스템은 71.83%인 반면, 대화체 위주의 영한 메신저 자동번역 시스템은 76.88%였다. 대화체 문장을 대상으로 번역률을 5.05% 향상시킬 수 있었던 이유는 본 논문에서 제시한 특화 방법을 따른 결과라고 할 수 있다.
