Purpose : To evaluate the effectiveness and tolerance of the postoperative radiation therapy for patients with Stage III thymoma and to define the optimal radiotherapeutic regimen Materials and Methods : We retrospectively analyzed the records of 24 patients with Stage III thymoma who were referred for postoperative radiation therapy in our institution from June, 1987 to May, 1999. Surgical therapy consisted of total resection in one patient, subtotal resection in seventeen, and biopsy alone in six patients. Age of the patients was ranged from 20 to 62 years with mean age of 47 years. Male to female ratio was 14 to 10. Radiation therapy was delivered with linear accelerator producing either 6 MeV or 10 MeV photons. The irradiated volume included anterior mediastinum and known residual disease. The supraclavicular fossae were not irradiated. The delivered total dose was ranged from 30 to 56 Gy. One patient received 30 Gy and eighteen patients received minimum of 50 Gy. Follow up period was ranged from 12 months to 8 years with median follow up of 40 months. Results : The overall local control rate for entire group of patients was $67\%$ at 5 years. The cumulative local failure rates at one, three and five year were $18\%,\;28\%\;and\;33\%$, respectively. In patients treated with subtotal resection and biopsy alone, local control rate was $76\%\;and\;33\%$, respectively. The actuarial observed survival rate at 5 years was $57\%$, and actuarial adjusted survival at 5 years was $72\%$. The difference between 5 year survival rates for patients treated with subtotal resection and biopsy alone was not statistically significant $(62\%\;vs\;30\%)$. Conclusion : We might conclude that postoperative radiation therapy was safe and effective treatment for patients with Stage III thymoma. Postoperative radiation therapy is recommended in cases where tumor margin is close or incomplete resection is accomplished.
This study is to compare the accuracy of evaluation regarding the volume of the prostate, which three-dimensional volume rendering was produced the shape of protrusion, by measuring two kinds of craniocaudal length from the top of the protrusion and from the exclusion of the protrusion as the starting points. For the imaginary protrusion prostate models, total of 10 models were roughly made by using devils-tongue jelly and changing each of the 10 ml of capacity from 10 ml to 100 ml. For the protrusion prostate models aimed at estimating the real volume, through 64 cannel computed tomography (CT) and 3.0 tesla magnetic resonance image (MRI) were conducted by planimetry technique from three-dimensional volume rendering. And then we performed to evaluate on significance of these volumes by wilcoxon signed rank test. Also the obtained volumes data by ellipsoid volume formula were measured the volume of protrusion prostate models two times with each method using the two kinds of craniocaudal length from top of the protrusion and from exclusion of the protrusion as the starting points. Finally, the significance of differences using wilcoxon signed rank test was evaluated between the real volume by planimetry technique and the measured volume by ellipsoid volume formula from three-dimensional volume rendering. The average of the protrusion length on the models was $0.90{\pm}0.18\;mm$ in CT and was $0.75{\pm}0.11\;mm$ in MRI. There were not statistically significant difference between MRI and CT from the volume of protrusion prostate models (p=0.414). In MRI (p=0.139) and CT (p=0.057), there were not statistically significant difference between the real volume by planimetry technique and the measured volume by ellipsoid volume from exclusion of the protrusion as the starting points. While, there were statistically significant difference between the real volume by planimetry technique and the measured volume by ellipsoid volume from top of the protrusion as the starting points in MRI (p=0.005) and CT (p=0.005). For the accurate measurement of the protrusion prostate models, the craniocaudal length of the prostate should be measured from the exclusion of the protrusion as the starting points.

Debates concerning the competitive edge of leading 3DTV technology of the shutter glasses (SG) 3D and the film-type patterned retarder (FPR) are flaring up. Although SG technology enables Full-HD 3D vision, it requires complex systems including the sync transmitter (emitter), the sync processor chip, and the LCD lens in the active shutter glasses. In addition, the transferred sync-signal is easily affected by the external noise and a 3DTV viewer may feel flicker-effect caused by cross-talk of the left and right image. The operating current of the sync processor in the 3DTV active shutter glasses is gradually increasing to compensate the sync reconstruction error. The proposed chip is a low-power hardware sync processor based discrete-event SoC(system on a chip) designed specifically for the 3DTV active shutter glasses. This processor implements the newly designed power-saving techniques targeted for low-power operation in a noisy environment between 3DTV and the active shutter glasses. This design includes a hardware pre-processor based on a universal edge tracer and provides a perfect sync reconstruction based on a floating-point timer to advance the prior commercial 3DTV shutter glasses in terms of their power consumption. These two techniques enable an accurate sync reconstruction in the slow clock frequency of the synchronization timer and reduce the power consumption to less than about a maximum of 20% compared with other major commercial processors. This article describes the system's architecture and the details of the proposed techniques, also identifying the key concepts and functions.

컴퓨터 통신망의 활용이 각 분야에서 걸쳐서 점차 확대되고 있으며 의료 분야에서도 원격진료(tele-medicine), 원격교육(tele-education), 원격수술(tele-surgery) 등에 대한 시스템 개발이 관심을 끌고 있다. 본 연구에서는 초고속 정보통신망 환경에서 정형외과 모의수술을 하기 위한 시뮬레이터의 프로토타입을 구현하였다. 원격 모의수술 시뮬레이터를 구축하기 위해서는 CT, MRI와 같은 의학영상 처리, 다지점간의 회의를 제어할 수 있는 통신 제어, 환자의 진료를 위한 멀티미디어 데이터의 저장 및 검색을 위한 데이터베이스 구축 등 다양한 기술들의 총체적인 결합이 요구되어진다. 구축 시뮬레이터는 세가지 주요 서브 시스템으로 구성된다. 첫째, 원격 시뮬레이션을 위한 전반적인 관리, 운영, 제어를 담당하는 수술회의 시스템, 둘째, 모의수술을 가능케 하기 위한 2차원 영상의 전처리 3차원 영상 재구성 및 조작을 통한 모의수술 시스템, 셋재, 멀티미디어 환자 자료의 검색 및 관리를 하기 위한 데이터베이스 운영시스템으로 구성된다. 제안된 원격 모의수술 시뮬레이터는 서버-클라이언트 구조를 기반으로 하고, 여러명의 의사가 공동작업(CSCW: Computer Supported Cooperative Work)에 의해 모의수술을 할 수 있도록 공용 윈도우를 기반으로 한 그래픽 사용자 인터페이스를 제공한다. 멀티미디어 의료 데이터의 전송은 TCP/IP 프로토콜을 사용하고, 사용자 인터페이스는 X-window를 이용하여 구축하였다. 본 시뮬레이터는 SUN Server 1000을 서버로 하고, 두대의 SDT Workstation을 클라이언트로 하여 Ethernet 환경에서 구현 및 검증하였다. 또한 ATM Network에서 본 시뮬레이터를 시험함으로써 국책 사업으로 구축되는 초고속 정보통신망 환경에서의 사용 가능성을 입증하였다. 판단된다.원과 섭식장소, 수중생물의 경우는 특히 수온, 수량 영양원등이다.(중략). 본 연구의 접근방법으로는 ASRS의 개념적인 Reference Model을 수립하고 이 Reference Model에 대한 Formal Model로 DEVS(Discrete Event System Specification)을 이용하여 시스템을 Modeling하였다. 이의 Computer Simulation을 위하여 DEVS형식론 환경에서의 Simulation Language인 DEVSim ++ⓒ를 이용하여 시스템을 구현하였다.. 실형 결과로는 먼저 선형 상미분방정식의 예로 mass-damper-spring system, 비선형 상미분방정식의 예로는 van der Pol 방정식, 연립 상미분방정식의 예로는 mixing tank problem 등을 보였으며, 그의 공학에서 일어나는 여러 가지 문제들도 다루었다.화물에 대한 방어력이 증가되어 나타난 결과로 여겨지며, 또한 혈청중의 ALT, ALP 및 LDH활성을 유의성있게 감소시키므로서 감잎 phenolic compounds가 에탄올에 의한 간세포 손상에 대한 해독 및 보호작용이 있는 것으로 사료된다.반적으로 홍삼 제조시 내공의 발생은 제조공정에서 나타나는 경우가 많으며, 내백의 경우는 홍삼으로 가공되면서 발생하는 경우가 있고, 인삼이 성장될 때 부분적인 영양상태의 불충분이나 기후 등에 따른 영향을 받을 수 있기 때문에 앞으로 이에 대한 많은 연구가 이루어져야할 것으로 판단된다.태에도 불구하고 [-wh]의미의 겹의문사는 병렬적 관계의 합성어가 아니라 내부구조를 지니지 않은 단순한 단어(minimal $X^{0}$ elements)로 가정한다. 즉, [+wh] 의미의 겹의문사는 동일한 구성요 소를 지닌 병렬적 합성어([$[W1]_{XO-}$$[W1]_{

In this paper, we propose Media CIS system architecture which provides geographical information of geo-features in video sequences by using 3D geographical database and GPS-related data resulted from 4S-Van. We introduce a novel interoperable geographical data service concept, so-called, Virtual World Mapping (VWA) that can map 3D graphic world with real-world video to provide geographical information. Our proposed method can easily retrieve geographical information and attributes to reconstruct 3D virtual space according to certain frame in video sequences. Our proposed system architecture also has an advantage that can provide geographical information service with video stream without any image processing procedures. In addition to, describing the details of our components, we present a Media GIS web service system by using GeoVideo Server, which performs VWM technique.

We developed an x-ray cone-beam micro computed tomography (micro-CT) system for small-animal imaging. The micro-CT system consists of a 2-D flat-panel x-ray detector with a field-of-view (FOV) of 120${\times}$120 mm2, a micro-focus x-ray source, a scan controller and a parallel image reconstruction system. Imaging performances of the micro-CT system have been evaluated in terms of contrast and spatial resolution. The minimum resolvable contrast has been found to be less than 36 CT numbers at the dose of 95 mGy and the spatial resolution about 14 lp/mm. As small animal imaging results, we present high resolution 3-D images of rat organs including a femur, a heart and vessels. We expected that the developed micro-CT system can be greatly used in biomedical studies using small animals.

In this paper, we propose an efficient dynamic background modelling method by using eigenbackground to extract moving objects from video stream. Even if a background model has been created, the model has to be updated to adapt to change due to several reasons such as weather or lighting. In this paper, we update a background model based on R-SVD method. At this time we define a change ratio of images and update the model dynamically according this value. Also eigenbackground need to be modelled by using sufficient training images for accurate models but we reorganize input images to reduce the number of images for training models. Through simulation, we show that the proposed method improves the performance against traditional eigenbackground method without background updating and a previous method.

In this paper, we propose a fast coeff_token decoding method based on the re-constructed VLCT. Since the conventional decoding method is still based on large memory accesses, it is not suitable for the multimedia services such as PMP, PMB, DVH-H where fast decoding and low power consumption are required. Based on the analysis for the codeword structure, new structure of the codeword and the corresponding memory architecture are developed in this paper. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves memory access saving from 10% to 57%, compared to the conventional decoding method. This meant that the issues of tow power consumption and high speed decoding can be resolved without video-quality and coding efficiency degradation.

A focused ion beam (FIB) system produces a beam of positive ions (usually gallium) which are heavier than electrons and can be focused by electrostatic lenses into a spot on the specimen. With its ability milling of the specimen material by 10 to 100 nm with each pass of the beam, FIB is widely adopted in materials science, semiconductor industry, and ceramics research. Recently, FIB has been increasingly employed in the field of biomedical sciences. Here we provide a brief introduction to FIB and its applications for a wide variety of biomedical research. The surface of specimen can be in situ processed and quasi-real time visualized by two beam combination of FIB and field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). Due to its milling process, internal structures can be exposed and analyzed: yeast cells, fungus-inoculated wheat leaf, mannitol particles in inhalation aerosols, and oyster shell. Serial blockface tomography with the system kindles 3-dimensional reconstruction researches in the realm of nervous system and life sciences. Two-beam system of FIB/FESEM is a versatile tool to be utilized in the biomedical sciences, especially in 3-dimensional reconstruction studies.

Virtual colonoscopy is an easy and fast method to reconstruct the shape of colon and diagnose tumors inside the colon based on computed tomography images. This is a non-invasive method, which resolves weak points of previous invasive methods. The path for virtual colonoscopy should be generated rapidly and accurately for clinical examination. However, previous methods are computationally expensive because the data structure such as distance map should be constructed in the preprocessing and positions of all the points of the path needs to be calculated. In this paper, we propose the automatic path generation method based on visibility to decrease path generation time. The proposed method does not require preprocessing and generates small number of control points representing the Path instead of all points to generate the path rapidly. Also, our method generates the path based on visibility so that a virtual camera moves smoothly and a comfortable and accurate path is calculated for virtual navigation. Also, our method can be used for general virtual navigation of various kinds of pipes.
