  • Today, it appears that the rapid advances in technology have allowed broadening both the system technology and the business opportunities in the rail industry. Owing to the developments in technology and the industry, and also due to the hearth, the latest high-speed trains and a variety of unattended operations in rail systems are being developed and are operational. In particular, this study covers the existing railway rolling stock and signaling systems that operate in an environment more complex than the concept of localized management, so the introduction of a new signaling system is needed. In addition, developments based on the existing signal system concepts for passenger railways need to minimize human injury. In this study, to participate in the development of new systems in a variety of domains and to provide an integrated common vision methodology as an engineer on the basis of efficient signal system design and safety would like to present the methodology for action. Therefore, each different linkage through the next new domain zone system design: design through to secure the integrity of safety than can secure methodology.

Method for increasing rail operation capacity of capital high speed rail with expanding the high speed railway service (고속철도 서비스 확대를 위한 수도권 고속철도 확충 방안 고찰)

  • In 1998, because of the economic crisis called IMF Crisis in Korea, Kyungbu high speed railway project could run by modifying the original plan to open it as a 1st phase only by utilizing the existing railway lines from Seoul to Siheung and the other one from Daegu to Pusan. The modified plan includes that the line from Daegu to Pusan will be constructed as a second phase in next time. Starting railway operation with the changed plan, the combined application operation of high speed rail, passenger rail and freight rail was caused partly from Seoul to Siheung to run into capital area. As a result, the opinion for additional railway line construction is insisted continuously because the operation volume of passenger rail was forced to be reduced, the service quality of it was decreased and it became difficult to add new high speed services. Moreover, with regard to Honam high speed rail, the new construction plan of station in Kangnam metro area as a basement station for starting from Suseo was changed to the plan of turning out at Osong because of the economic effectiveness and this kept resident people in Kangnam metro area and southern Kyungki area unable to get the opportunity of high speed rail service benefit. After beginning of Kyungbu high speed railway operation, national transportation system developments are focused on high speed rail, and when the second phase construction of Kyungbu high speed rail, beginning operation of Kyungjeon line, Jeolla line double track construction, Honam high speed rail in 2014, is completed, the demand for high speed rail will be increased and it is unavoidable to make Kwangmyung station as a basement station and to reduce the number of passenger rail operation. At this moment, it is valuable to consider adding the railway line capacity in capital area to improve the transferring service for citizen who live in area without Kyungbu high speed rail station and to expand the service area from Kangbuk to Kangnam and southern Kyungki area. Accordingly, in this paper, the effective rail operation method, facility plan and the other issue to be reviewed for increasing capital high speed railway lines will be mentioned.

  • 본 논문은 열차제어시스템 유지보수업무의 최적화를 위한 정량적 주기산출방법에 관한 것으로, 특히 전장품과 같이 유지보수업무로 주로 교체업무가 선택되는 경우, 운영비용을 최적화하기 위한 교체주기를 정량적으로 산출하기위한 방법을 제시하고, 장치의 고장분포 데이터를 통해, 철도신호장치의 교체주기를 할당한다. 제시한 방법은 유지보수장치의 운영이력을 분석하여, 장치의 고장데이터를 바탕으로 고장분포를 확률적으로 모델링한 뒤, 정확한 LCC데이터가 적용될 때 새롭게 도입되는 장비 및 시스템의 유지보수업무주기를 할당이 가능하고, 이를 통해여 시스템의 운영안전을 보장하면서, 운용비용을 최적화 할 수 있다.

  • In order to prevent railway accidents due to human errors which have been recognized to be the most important cause in the railway accidents, human errors should have been controlled based on systematical analysis of the human errors, and countermeasures should be derived to reduce human error probability. Among several factors inducing human errors, task load (or task complexity) is representative. In order to reduce the human error, a systematic analysis should be undertaken to evaluate task load. In this study, task load according to task types of railway worker who are a safety critical staff have been quantitatively analyzed based on NASA-TLX(Task Load Index).

The Improvement of Electrical Point Machine Wiring Set (선로전환기(NS)의 배선세트 개선)

  • An Electrical Point Machine (NS:New-type Switch), which is equipped and operated at railways in Korea, has been used since the 1960s after being imported from Japan. On the other hand, although the mechanical configuration has improved the position motor control circuit, the electrical connection has not been improved, so NS may have a problem, such as the interlocking system of automatic train operation. In addition, NS is the most vulnerable part in the railway system and a huge train accident may occur due to minor defects. The existing NS wiring set of the circuit controller should be checked only if fixed. Therefore, an excessive inspection time only by a Railroad Signal expert is required. In this paper, the improvement of electrical connection in a NS wiring set, such as the position motor control circuit, was developed and the prototype was installed at Seoul Metro in the distance to go section. The results can be used to help make appropriate adjustments. The improvement of the NS wiring set enhance the maintenance efficiency, passenger service and the stability of the signal system as well as reducing the maintenance cost.

  • This study enables to troubleshoot the problems of the existing dual system with the help of the implementation of totally dualized fault-tolerant system to L-CTC computer and HADAX, and equipments are simplified and systems are modernized with the addition of the control function, as a upgraded LCP control system, to L-CTC computer on the basis of WINDOWS based O/S switched from DOS environment. An error on Microlok, which is aninterlocking apparatus, forwarded to L-CTC computer ensures to handle the false data during the operation of the system. This paper discusses a sure way to prevent the deterioration of (SMRT) L-CYC system and to bolster its stability with formation of the dual system. Additionally, WINDOW based O/S consisting of L-CTC computer leads to simplification and modernization of facilities and enhances maintenance functions offering centralization for branch offices and machine rooms as well.

  • An Electric railway system has the characteristics. The train powered by substations generates regenerative power when it runs on railway of various slope. A regenerative braking is an ideal system on account of reducing mechanical braking as well as recycling the energy. This study dealt with the line gradient review, train running records and power data out of substations in a bid to establish the efficient regenerative energy storage system.

  • LTE-R mobile communication technology based on LTE is used to supply various signal and exchange information required for safety operation of train on high speed railway communication system. In this paper, transmission performance of application traffic which is transferred on high speed communication based on LTE-R is analyzed. And some suggestions for application traffic transmission of high speed railway communication will be considered. Computer simulation is used to analyze performance of CBR, VBR as application traffic. Throughput, delay and packet loss rate is used as performance measurement and analysis parameters.

  • 19세기초 영국에서 개발된 증기 기관차로 인하여 육상교통이 큰 변혁을 맞은 이래 열차의 속도, 승차감, 신뢰도 및 안전도, 경제성의 제고 등에 대한 계속적인 기술발전과 개량으로 철도 교통은 대량수송 수단의 주역으로 경제발전과 인류역사에 크게 공헌하여 왔다. 산업발전에 따른 고속화와 전철화로 철도차량의 최고속도는 프랑스의 고속전철(TGV)이 300km/h까지 도달했으나 고속주행시의 소음, 공해등으로 인하여 21세기 인류에게 제공될 지상의 대중교통수단으로서는 여러가지의 제한점을 보이고 있다. 최근 우리나라에서도 지속적이고 급속한 대중 교통수단으로서는 여러가지의 제한점을 보이고 있다. 최근 우리나라에서도 지속적이고 급속한 산업발전과 사회복지의 향상으로 국내의 산업물동량과 산업인구의 이동이 급격하게 증가하여 우리나라 산업동맥의 중추인 경부선의 경우 일일 수송능력은 120회/일 이르렀고 철도교통수요의 증가율('84년 예측치 5.9%년)과 특급이상의 승객증가율('84년 예측 12.5%)에 비추어 볼때, 1995년경에는 완전포화 상태에 도달할 것으로 예상되고 있다. 본 소고에서는 21세기 고도사회 진입에 대비하고 국민의 생활수준향상에 부응하는 빠르며, 쾌적하고, 안전한 고속 대중 교통수단으로써 관심을 불러 일으키고 있는 고속전철을 소개하고, 현재 운행하거나 개발중인 외국의 기술현황을 기술적인 면과 운용면에서의 고찰을 통하여 한국의 교통체제, 지형, 미래의 교통구조 등을 고려한 한국형 고속전철의 개발방향을 제시하고저 한다.

A Study on the Crushing Characteristic of the Ballast Gravel at High-Speed Railroad (고속선 도상자갈의 파쇄특성에 관한 연구)

  • The ballast, one of track components, plays an essential role as intermedium in transmitting train load to subgrade safely, and the deterioration of ballast directly effects the growth of track irregularity. In this study, we determined the main factor of ballast deterioration was miniature of ballast gravel caused MTT (Multiple Tie Tamper) works and accumulated traffic loads. To estimate the deterioration characteristics of ballast, we carried out field test (Chap.2) through track construction for test and the model test (Chap.3) simulating the actual operation environment, have done a comparative analysis with the sample's result (crushing rate) of high-speed railroad running actually.
