Comparison of the Effects of Straight and Twisted Heat Trace Installations Based on Three-dimensional Unsteady Heat Transfer (열선의 직선시공과 감기시공의 동파방지 효과 비교를 위한 3차원 비정상 수치해석)

  • This paper numerically examines, straight and twisted electrical heat trace installations for their anti-freezing effects on water inside a pipe. The unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations coupled with an energy equation were solved to compare the two installation methods. The heat conduction of the pipe with a heat source interacts with the natural convection of the water, and the conjugate heat transfer was considered using a commercial code (ANSYS-FLUENT) based on a SIMPLE-type algorithm. Numerical experiments, were done to investigate the isotherms and the vector fields in the water region to extract the evolutions of the minimum and maximum temperatures of the water inside the pipe. There was no substantial difference in the anti-freezing effects between the straight and twisted. Therefore, the straight installation is recommended after considering the damage and short circuit behavior of the electrical heat trace.

  • The plasma polymerized styrene films were prepared by using an inter-electrode capacitively coupled gas-flow-type reactor, and the effects of plasma polymerization condition on the molecular weight distribution were investigated by Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR), Pyrolysis Gas Chromatography(PyGC), Differential Scanning Calorimetry(DSC) and Gel Permeation Chromatography(GPC). From the above results, the very cross-linked films different from chemical characteristics of the starting monomer were taken out, and it is realized that the molecular structure, cross linking density, and molecular weight distribution could be controlled by changing the parameters such as deposition pressure, deposition power and gas flow rate. Accordingly, it is suggested that plasma polymerization method performed by inter-electrode capacitively coupled gas-flow-type reactor has good characteristics for manufacturing the functional organic thin films which can be applied in sensors, opto-electric device, photo-resist by changing the polymerization parameters.

  • A hydrophilic alkaline room temperature ionic liquid electrolyte (RT-IL) carrying hydroxide ion as an anion and 1-benzyl-3-butylimidazolium as a cation was synthesized. Electrochemical, physical and structural properties of the synthesized RT-IL were characterized using cyclic voltammetry, ionic conductivity, viscosity, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), FT-IR, and 1H-NMR measurements. High ionic conductivity and low viscosity characteristics comparable to 0.1 M KCl electrolyte solution were achieved for the RT-IL in addition to a wide electrochemical potential window of about 4.4 V. The results indicate that the RT-IL is promising for future applications as an alternative electrolyte to energy and environmental research fields.

Quality Characteristics of Baked Yakgwa Containing Different Amounts of Perilla frutescens Powder (자소엽 첨가량에 따른 구운 약과의 품질 특성)

  • The objective of this study was to determine the quality characteristics of fried yakgwa and baked yakgwa prepared with different amounts of P. frutescens powder. Moisture contents of fried yakgwa were 7.05%, and moisture content of baked yakgwa with different amounts of P. frutescens powder were 12.42~10.44% and decreased with higher amount of P. frutescens powder. This result can be attributed to loss of water in yakgwa in the course of the fried process. Although the degree of expansion of baked yakgwa was lower than that of fried yakgwa, size and shape of yakgwa were maintained. Yakgwa is appropriate as a cookie type product. Crude lipid contents of fried yakgwa were higher than those of baked yakgwa due to the exchange reaction of water and fat during the fried process. Energy of fried yakgwa was 501 kcal and was higher than that of baked yakgwa with different amounts of P. frutescens powder. This greatly affected the fat content of each sample. Energy of baked yakgwa increased with higher amount of P. frutescens powder due to the characteristics of the ingredients or jasoyeop. For chromaticity determination, L values of fried yakgwa were lower, but a, and b values were higher than those of baked yakgwa, and L, a, and b values decreased when P. frutescens powder increased. Texture measurement showed that hardness, cohesiveness, chewiness, gumminess increased with higher amounts of P. frutescens powder, whereas springiness decreased. The antioxidant activities of fried yakgwa measured based on DPPH scavenging activity were higher than those of baked yakgwa with 0%~0.2% P. frutescens powder and lower than those of baked yakgwa with 0.3%~0.4% P. frutescens powder. In the sensory evaluation, baked yakgwa with 0.1% addition of P. frutescens powder showed the highest preference in terms of overall acceptance, and 0% addition of P. frutescens powder showed the highest preference in terms of color and flavor. These results suggest that P. frutescens powder may be a useful ingredient in baked yakgwa to improve quality and sensory properties.

  • This research was carried out to investigate the moisture evaporation and property change depenging on the composting temperature for the escalator reversing composting system. The system was supported by the Y livestock cooperative composting factory. According to the test, the composting remperature eas varied in the range of $65\~80^{\circ}C$. The water content was de-creased to $75\%$ and became about $60\%$ at the end of the phase. Total nitrogen became $0.58\%$, total phosphoric acid $1.47\%$ and potashium $0.49\%$ at the end of the phase.

생물공정의 측정 및 새로운 공정변수의 개발

  • 생물공정의 운전에 있어서 적절한 공정변수가 부족한 경우가 많다. 이것은 멸균과정을 견딜 수 있는 신뢰성 높은 센서가 부족하기 때문이다[1]. 생물공정에 주로 사용되는 센서로서는 온도, pH, D.O., rpm, viscosoty 등이 있으나 이 센서들은 배양액의 물리적 혹은 화학적 상태를 측정할 수 있는 경우가 대부분이다[2]. 미생물의 대사활동과 관련이 있는 공정 변수로는 배출가스의 성분을 측정하여 얻을 수 있는 Oxygen uptake rate, Carbon dioxide evolution rate 및 Respiratory quotient가 있으며 현재 생물공정의 운전에 사용되고 있다[3]. 그러나 반복적인 센서의 보정과 연결관의 잦은 청소 및 보수를 필요로 하여 제한적으로 사용되고있는 실정이다. 자동화된 습식분석장치, Gas chromatograph, High Performace Liquid Chromatograph 혹은 Mass spectrophtometry 등을 온라인 샘플 처리장치와 연결하여 발효조의 배양액의 성분을 온라인으로 분석하고 공정의 운전에 응용하는 사례가 많이 발표되었다[4-6]. 고가의 장비 및 운전의 번거러움이나 추가적인 인력이 필요하므로 역시 특별한 경우에만 사용되고 있다. 이외에도 여러 종류의 온라인 센서 및 바이오 센서등이 개발되어 사용되고 있으나 역시 그 사용범위는 특수한 영역에 한정되어있다. 이와 같이 새로운 센서를 개발하여 공정변수를 측정하려는 시도중의 하나가 소프트웨어 센서의 개발이다. 이 것은 공정상에서 발생하는 1차 공정변수를 이용하여 배양액의 상태 혹은 2차적인 공정 변수를 추측해내는 것이다. 대부분의 경우 기존의 공정 변수를 사용하므로 추가적인 비용이 들지 않고 소프트웨어의 형태로 구현되므로 센서의 보정과 설치 및 유지관리의 노력이 매우 적은 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 생물공정에서 자동제어 과정에서 발생하는 여러 가지 공정상의 제어 신호로부터 새로운 공정 변수를 얻어내고자 시도하였다. 대부분의 생물공정에서는 pH의 자동제어가 필수적인데 자동제어 과정에서 발생하는 pH 제어 신호 및 pH의 변화 응답신호를 이용하여 배지의 완충용량의 변화와 알칼리의 소비속도를 온라인으로 측정할 수 있었다. 여기에 인공지능망을 설계하여 균체의 량을 온라인으로 추정하는 방법을 개발하였다 [7].산업용 발효조의 운전 온도는 주로 냉각수의 단속적인 공급에 의하여 항상 일정하게 조절된다. 따라서 냉각수의 냉각량을 측정하면 미생물의 배양시 발생하는 대사열량을 측정할 수 있게 된다. 본 연구에서는 실험실의 발효조를 냉각수의 단속적인 공급에 의하여 자동온도 조절이 되도록 개조하고 여기에 냉각수의 유출입 지점에 온도센서를 부착하여 냉각수의 온도를 측정하고 냉각수의 공급량과 대기의 온도 등을 측정하여 대사열의 발생을 추정할 수 있었다. 동시에 이를 이용하여 유가배양시 기질을 공급하는 공정변수로 사용하였다 [8]. 생물학적인 폐수처리장치인 활성 슬러지법에서 미생물의 활성을 측정하는 방법은 아직 그다지 개발되어있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 슬러지의 주 구성원이 미생물인 점에 착안하여 침전시 슬러지층과 상등액의 온도차를 측정하여 대사열량의 발생량을 측정하고 슬러지의 활성을 측정할 수 있는 방법을 개발하였다.

Gelatinization and Retrogradation Properties of Surfactant Added Sweet Potato Starches (계면활성제 첨가 고구마 전분의 호화와 노화특성)

  • Physicochemical properties, gelatinization and retrogradation characteristics of surfactant added sweet potato starches were investigated. Three different surfactants, SSL (sodium stearoyl-2-lactylate), Dimodan (mono/diglyceride) and SE1670 (sucrose fatty acid ester 1670) were used. Shapes and crystallinities of starch granules were not changed by the addition of surfactants. Total lipid contents increased and the amylose content decreased by the addition of surfactants and the order was as follows: SE1670>SSL>Dimodan. The swelling power and solubility at $80^{\circ}C$ decreased in the surfactant added starches. By amylograph, initial gelatinization temperature of untreated sweet potato starch was $72.5^{\circ}C$, and did not change by the addition of surfactants, but SE1670 or Dimodan added starch showed the peak viscosity. The peak temperature of gelatinization and enthalpy of untreated starch by DSC were $53.9^{\circ}C$ and 1.3cal/g, respectively. The peak temperature increased by the addition of surfactants, while the enthalpy decreased. In gelatinization by alkali, the viscosity was lower in surfactant added starches than in untreated starch at concentration. The degree of retrogradation by ${\alpha}-amylase-iodine$ method was a lower in SSL and SE1670 added starches than untreated starch and the enthalpy by DSC also decreased in surfactant added and retrograded starches.

A Study on the Emission Factor of NOx and CO by Burning of Synthetic Biogas (합성 Bio-Gas 연소시 발생되는 질소산화물과 일산화탄소 배출에 관한 연구)

  • In view of energy supply, biogas can be seen as alternative fuel by substituting considerable amount of fossil fuel and may be utilized for heat and power production or for transport fuel production ($CH_4-enriched$ biogas). The aim of this research is to analyse the emission of $NO_x$ and CO from biogas fired combustion engine for electric power production. The result indicate a significant effect of biogas composition ($CH_4-CO_2$ ratio) and biogas flow rate on the air pollutants emission. The emission factors from this study were compared with those of U.S. EPA. Low $CH_4-CO_2$ ratio condition typically shows the lower $NO_x$ and CO emission than higher $CH_4-CO_2$ ratio condition. At normal $CH_4-CO_2$ ratio (7:3) emission factors of $NO_x$ and CO were 1.29 and 30.43 g/MMBtu, respectively. At low $CH_4-CO_2$, ratio (6:4) emission factors of $NO_x$ and CO were 0.646 and 60.86 g/MMBtu, respectively, It should be emphasized that the actual emission may vary considerably from these results due to operating conditions including torque load and engine speed.

Study on the Melting Point Depression of Tin Nanoparticles Manufactured by Modified Evaporation Method (수정된 증발법을 이용하여 제작된 주석 나노입자의 녹는점 강하에 관한 연구)

  • In the present study, the melting temperature depression of Sn nanoparticles manufactured using the modified evaporation method was investigated. For this purpose, a modified evaporation method with mass productivity was developed. Using the manufacturing process, Sn nanoparticles of 10 nm size was manufactured in benzyl alcohol solution to prevent oxidation. To examine the morphology and size distribution of the nanonoparticles, a transmission electron microscope was used. The melting temperature of the Sn nanoparticles was measured using a Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) which can calculate the endothermic energy during the phase changing process and an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) used for observing the manufactured Sn nanoparticle compound. The melting temperature of the Sn nanoparticles was observed to be $129^{\circ}C$, which is $44^{\circ}C$ lower than that of the bulk material. Finally, the melting temperature was compared with the Gibbs Thomson and Lai's equations, which can predict the melting temperature according to the particle size. Based on the experimental results, the melting temperature of the Sn nanoparticles was found to match well with those recommended by the Lai's equation.

A Study of Dexibuprofen Loaded Solid Dispersion Using Rotary Hot-melt Granulation (회전식 고온용융과립법을 이용한 덱시부프로펜 함유 고체분산체 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper was to prepare and evaluate solid dispersions (SD) that can increase the dissolution rate of dexibuprofen as a model drug with low solubility in water using saccharides and sugar alcohols as dispersion materials. DSC, XRD, content and content uniformity test, dissolution test, and disintegration test were conducted for physicochemical evaluation of the prepared SD. For the results, it was confirmed using differential scanning calorimetry that fructose, which has a melting point around 120 ℃ of the device operating temperature range, is a suitable excipient for the preparation of SD by the rotary hot-melt granulation (RHMG) method. X-ray diffraction analysis was conducted to confirm that the crystallinity of dexibuprofen was reduced. Disintegration test of the prepared tablet using SD-containing dexibuprofen and fructose confirmed a very fast disintegration time within 1~2 seconds and also showed that the dissolution rate was about 20% faster than that of the dexibuprofen raw material. Dexibuprofen with reduced crystallinity by SD confirmed through the RHMG method can be used to increase the dissolution rate of the drug and increase the disintegration time of the tablet. Thus, it can be used in the manufacturing of various solid preparations.
