Spatial Characteristics of Manufacturing Production and Innovation Networks of the Long-live Area of Gangwon and Jeju (강원.제주 장수지역의 제조업 생산 연계와 혁신 네트워크의 공간적 특성)

  • Abstract The purpose of this paper is to analyze production and innovation networks of manufacturers in the rural, long-live areas of Gangwon Jeju and to suggest an ideal regional development model of rural areas in the knowledge-based information age. For this purpose, we compared the areas of Gangwon Jeju with the long-live belt areas in the rural pan of the Honan region and Gwangju Jeonju, the urban part of Honam. The findings from the study are summarized as follows. Firstly, the stronger the local networks in terms of supply of the necessary input materials and labor, the more successful the manufacturing industry is in the given area. Secondly, the more diverse and lasting the networks (in terms of the location of manufacturers, local area and national area) and cooperation agents(businesses, research institutions, the local government, the central government) they have, the more prosperous the manufacturing industry is. These results indicate that the successful development model for rural areas requires that we take the approach of fostering potential innovation capabilities of total areas by fully utilizing their innate resources so as to create an internal cooperative network and further build extensive networks encompassing external entities to create a virtual innovation cluster.

  • Knowledge management is an innovation paradigm to improve organizations competitiveness by strengthening organization's knowledge competency. Most organizations which have implemented knowledge management have experienced various difficulties in improving organization's knowledge competency, and so they have strived to find solutions. For the problems, it may be considered as an effective approach to link between knowledge management and human resource development. This study introduces two real cases adopting such approach focusing on competency development and career development which are primary areas of human resource development, and presents a model structuring core mechanisms which can be found in the cases. The model focuses on creating synergy effects between knowledge management and workforces' competency development. The cases and the model are expected to be helpful in enhancing organizational competency and the performance of knowledge management.

  • Wind generation systems are very different in nature from conventional generation systems. Therefore it is necessary to research dynamic characteristics of wind generation systems connected to a power system. The stability analysis of wind turbine generator is an important issue in the operation of the power system. The result of angular stability of the power system that consists of only synchronous generators is different from that of the power system including wind turbine generators. This is due to the fact that generators connected to wind turbines are generally induction generators. The angular stability assessing synchronization of generators is determined by its corresponding critical clearing time(CCT). Wind turbine models for the analysis of power system are varied and difficult to use, but now these are standardized into four types. In this paper, the analysis of the CCT of the power system connected to wind farm considering the location and capacity is performed by using DFIG(Doubly-Fed induction Generator) wind turbine built-in type3 model in PSS/E-32.

Development of Interface System to Couple the SWAT Model and HyGIS (HyGIS와 SWAT의 연계 시스템 개발)

  • SWAT includes a lot of parameters related with geography, hydrological time series, land management and water pollution, etc. So, it needs many spatial, non-spatial and time series data to run SWAT. If SWAT is operated in conjunction with GIS, we can use database which includes model input data and do all the processes which covers data creation, model input and analysis of simulation results in a system. The objective of this study is to develop HyGIS-SWAT which is the interface system to couple the SWAT model and HyGIS. To achieve this object, system operation process based on HyGIS-SWAT data model is evaluated and databases are designed and established. As a result, HyGIS-SWAT prototype system is developed. HyGIS data model and HyGIS-Model operation process can be applied effectively to the development of HyGIS-SWAT. The technologies from this study can be used as base technology to develop another HyGIS application which connect HyGIS with models.

A study on Wikidata linkage methods for utilization of digital archive records of the National Debt Redemption Movement (국채보상운동 디지털 아카이브 기록물의 활용을 위한 위키데이터 연계 방안에 대한 연구)

  • This study designed a data model linked to Wikidata and examined its applicability to increase the utilization of the digital archive records of the National Debt Redemption Movement, registered as World Memory Heritage, and implications were derived by analyzing the existing metadata, thesaurus, and semantic network graph. Through analysis of the original text of the National Debt Redemption Movement records, key data model classes for linking with Wikidata, such as record item, agent, time, place, and event, were derived. In addition, by identifying core properties for linking between classes and applying the designed data model to actual records, the possibility of acquiring abundant related information was confirmed through movement between classes centered on properties. Thus, this study's result showed that Wikidata's strengths could be utilized to increase data usage in local archives where the scale and management of data are relatively small. Therefore, it can be considered for application in a small-scale archive similar to the National Debt Redemption Movement digital archive.
