  • This study examined the determinants of distributor stress and organizational effectiveness in a global distribution industry. This study suggested distributors' role factors and mindfulness as the key determinants of their stress and organizational effectiveness. Employees' role factors were classified into three factors: role ambiguity, role conflict, and role overload. Organizational effectiveness was classified into three factors: job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intention. Data were collected from 202 distributors in a global distribution industry. Results indicated that role conflict and role overload were significantly, positively related to distributors' stress, and that role ambiguity and mindfulness were negatively related to their stress. Results also indicated that role ambiguity was negatively related to job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and that role conflict and role overload were positively related to turnover intention. Finally, role overload was positively related to job satisfaction and organizational commitment and mindfulness was positively related to job satisfaction.

  • Many approaches exist for studying travel service quality, employee's satisfaction, and traveler' satisfaction. Although tour conductor play an important role in travel service, there is a lack of research on how to conceptualize and measure tour conductor's role, role stress and service delivery level. So this paper presents a conceptual framework and research approach for examining the role conflict, ambiguity, overload, and service delivery level of tour conductor in group package and the impacts of role stress on service delivery level. Results indicate that there are significant affection on service delivery level of TC among the role conflict, ambiguity, and overload. For the most part, the role conflict and ambiguity more impacted on responsibility and empathy with service encounter, the role overload affected on professional and tangibles. In conclusion, the studies reported here highlight the importance of individual effort as well as organizational police in reducing strain and improving service delivery level.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the impact of role stress (role conflict, role ambiguity, and role overload) on career commitment and turnover intention in small and medium-sized hospital workers in Busan. The subjects of the study were 418 nursing and administrative workers engaged in hospitals and general hospitals in Busan. Frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were conducted for empirical analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, significant differences in some research variables were identified according to gender, age, educational background, marital status, and working years. Depending on the job type, there were significant differences in all variables such as role conflict, role ambiguity, role overload, career commitment, and turnover intention. Second, role stress was found to have a significant negative effect on career commitment and a significant positive effect on turnover intention. Among the role stress, it was confirmed that the role overload had the strongest influence on career commitment and turnover intention. This study is meaningful in that it analyzed the influence of role stress, including workers in all occupations, including nursing jobs, and empirically revealed the meaning of role stress as an explanatory variable of career commitment and turnover intention.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between job stressors (role conflict, role ambiguity, and role overload), innovation behavior, and mindfulness in organizational employees and to examine the moderating effect of mindfulness on the relationship between job stressors and innovation behavior. For this purpose, data were collected and analyzed through a structured questionnaire from 337 employees of companies and organizations. The results of the study showed that job stress has a negative effect (-) on innovation behavior and mindfulness has a positive effect (+) on innovation behavior. Mindfulness was found to play a moderating role in the relationship between job stress and innovation behavior. Therefore, mindfulness is identified as an individual resource and competency that can mitigate job stress and promote innovative behavior, and organizations should provide training to harness and enhance mindfulness to control job stress and increase innovative behavior.

  • Based on the technostress theory, this study aims to explore the effect of technostress caused by the use of social media during or after work hours on job turnover intention. This study conducted an online survey targeting 341 Chinese WeChat users. According to the results of the structural model analysis, role overload, role conflict, and work invasion that occur during work affect technostress, and social interaction overload, invasion of private life, and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) that occur after work have a effect on technostress as well. Technostress occurring during work did not appear to have an effect on turnover intention, but technostress occurring after work was found to have a positive effect on turnover intention. It is expected that this study will be used as a basic data for the correct use of social media within an organization.

  • The development of smart devices has affected employees' working environments and their lives. However, using smart devices is causing employees to experience technostress. This study aims to investigate the effects of technostress in using smart devices on usage intention in an organization. Moreover, the study investigates the effect of employees' stress-coping methods on the intention to use smart devices. This study posits familiarity, use innovativeness, role ambiguity, system vulnerability, technological limitation, and ubiquity as the antecedents of technostress. Data collected from 317 users who have experience in using smart devices in organizations are empirically tested against a research model using the PLS graph. Analysis results show that role ambiguity, system vulnerability, and technological limitation significantly influence technostress. Moreover, users take up emotion-focused coping behaviors because of technostress. Emotion-focused coping behaviors affect usage intention in organizations. However, technostress and problem-focused coping behaviors do not directly affect usage intention in organizations.
