Influence of Work-Family Conflict on Family and Job Satisfaction of Working Mothers :Focused on the Moderating Effect of Family-Friendly Benefit (영유아와 초등학생 자녀를 둔 여성 근로자의 직장-가정 갈등이 가정 및 직장생활만족에 미치는 영향 :가족친화제도의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the availability of family-friendly systems for female workers with children under elementary school, and to verify that the availability of family-friendly systems can mitigate the negative effects of workplace-home conflicts on family and work-life satisfaction. To this end, data of 538 female employees with children younger than elementary school students were analyzed using the sixth data of the Korean Women Manager Panel. According to the analysis, the type of family-friendly system such as time flexibility system, career flexibility system, and worker support system all showed significant adjustment effect in relation to workplace-family conflict and work life satisfaction. The career flexibility system was the only one that showed a control effect on family life satisfaction. To help talented female workers work for their children without severing their careers, the government proposed active support for businesses and the government to help them use the family-friendly system.

  • As Korea's low birth rate has become a serious social problem, various government-level policy initiatives have been proposed to introduce and expand family-friendly personnel systems for work-family balance. The main causes of low birthrates in Korea are the increased participation of women in economic activities and the difficulties of work-family balance. As part of women's policy, support policies were introduced at various levels such as family-friendly institutions and flexible working systems, but they did not have much effect as an alternative to low birth rates. The implications of family-friendly institutions within the organization beyond low birthrates, which are continuously present, have greater implications at the time of new social transformation. This paper will investigate and discuss the implications of family-friendly policies and the implications of the flexible working system in the civil services.

가족친화 고용정책의 기업수용성 분석: 유연근로제도를 중심으로

  • 본 연구는 한국노동연구원에서 실시한 "일과 가족 양립 지원제도 운영실태조사" 원자료를 활용하여 우리나라 기업의 유연근로제도에 대한 수용성 정도를 실증분석한 것이다. 유연근로제도를 포함한 가족친화 경영의 기업수용성은 출산과 양육친화단계에서는 높지만, 가족친화적 경영수준으로는 확장되지 않고 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 기존의 연구와 달리 기업 특성을 성(gender)과 시장(market) 가치에 따라 구분하여 유연근로제도의 수용성이 어떤 영역에서 높게 나타나는지를 분석한 결과 여성친화적-고시장성 기업일수록 보다 높은 수용성을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 다변량분석을 활용하여 유연근로제도에 대한 기업의 수용성 결정요인을 도출하였는데 여기에서는 비정규직 활용과 유연근로제도가 대체관계에 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 현재 우리나라 노동시장에서 큰 이슈가 되고 있는 비정규직의 무분별한 활용과 증가를 억제할 수 있는 대안 중의 하나로 유연근로제도를 활성화하는 방안을 제안할 수 있으며, 이는 기업의 효율적인 인력운영과 함께 일자리의 질도 제고시킬 수 있어 기업과 근로자가 모두 윈윈(win-win)하는 전략이 될 수 있음을 시사한다고 하겠다.

  • As the city have been enlarged bigger and more complicated recently, a discussion about a city right, started on the base of perception that a city must be recognized as a public resource and the value. A city rights imply equal use and participation in these city resource. From a start of modern city, a city space have been developed mainly, as a man's economic business and industrial area, but now, to ensure a woman's city right is getting an important factor of citizen's settlement. Then many domestic cities tries to promote a woman friendly city creation. The main purpose of this paper is to find the concept of woman friendly city, based on a gender-sensitive perspective view point and to make an assessment index of Woman Friendliness of the City (WFC). In a case of Ansan City which city is in the planning stage of application for a woman friendly city.

Does Social Enterprise Provide a Decent Work to Women? (사회적기업은 괜찮은 여성일자리인가?)

  • Social enterprises can be identified roughly as social purpose-oriented business ventures. They often fill the gaps left by governmental and commercial ventures in providing for certain vulnerable sectors of society. Though social enterprises often adopt market mechanisms in their organizational structures, their emphasis on particular social outcomes means that they intentionally pursue double/triple-bottom lines, thus distinguishing them from many traditional for-profit businesses. Among the Korean laborers, women have been hardest hit by the global economic crisis. As the movements have substantially been taken to strengthen women's economic activities in the recent years, many policies are formulated with these trends, connecting women's employment with social enterprises. This study focused on analyzing social enterprises to be friendly and to provide decent work to women. Data were collected from 491 social enterprises and 830 workers. The main results are as follows. First, the women's employment in social enterprises has accounted for a relatively high rate and the women's wage also is similar to men's one. Second, as for work conditions and types, most women have preferred irregular and non-managerial work. Thus, social enterprises have showed a positive response for the women's job opportunities, while social enterprises have had a negative one for enhancing the women's status at the labor market. In conclusion, social enterprises should institutionalize how to provide more stable working condition to women and to improve their's capacity.

A Study on the Effect of Adult Female's Personality Type on Health Control Behavior and Obesity Stress (성인여성의 성격유형이 건강통제행동 및 비만스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • The study was performed for investigation with 257 female adults to find out the factors affecting health control behavior and obesity stress by personality type. First of all, BMIs of the respondents showed 30 low weight (11.7%), 170 normal weight (66.1%), 33 overweight (12.8%) and 24 obese respondents (9.4%). Comparing with low weight or normal weight, overweight or obesity could be seen as strong with diet control behaviors, from which obesity stress showed the tendency to be high accordingly. Second, the result of the investigation showed that for the open personality, which was featured as strongly desired to accomplish, very sincere and sensitive, they were more eager to control through health or diet. Third, the result of the investigation showed that for the more nervous, which is featured as emotionally unstable, bad at self control of impetus and clumsy to handle stress, the obesity stress was escalating.

Work-Familiy Interface and Organizational Outcomes in Female Managers: The Moderating Effects of Family-friendly Organizational Culture (여성관리자의 일-가정 상호관계와 조직성과: 가족친화적 조직문화의 조절효과 분석)

  • Work-family interface including work-family conflict and work-family enrichment has an effect on organizational performance such as job satisfaction and organizational commitment. This empirical research mainly investigated influence of family-friendly organizational culture on work-family interface and organizational performance. Three key variables apply for this research : work-family interface, organizational performance and family-friendly organizational culture. A total 750 questionnaire was collected from female managers in various companies for hypothesis testing. The empirical analysis shows that reducing work-family conflict and enhancing work-family enrichment positively contribute to job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The Family-friendly organizational culture plays a moderating role between work-family interface and organizational performance. As a result, the findings support the fact that family-friendly organizational culture impact on organizational performance through work-family balance.

The Effect of Work-Family Balance on Job Satisfaction : The Mediating Effect of Family Supportive Organizational Culture (일·가정 균형이 직무만족에 미치는 영향 : 가족친화문화의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of work-family balance on job satisfaction and the mediating effect of family supportive organizational culture in the relationship. For this purpose, the 6th data of the Women's Family Panel was used to analyze 2,016 married female workers who are currently employed among respondents aged 19 to 64. According to the analysis, First, work-family balance was found to have a positive effect on job satisfaction, and second, family supportive organizational culture had a mediating effect between work-family balance and job satisfaction. These results are meaningful in that they reaffirmed the emotional connection between work and family areas, suggesting that not only an institutional approach for work-family balance but also a cultural approach such as family-supportive organizational culture need to be considered.

Mediation Effect of Marriage Satisfaction about Personality Traits of Married Female Immigrants to Affect on Preparing Their Old Age (결혼이주여성의 성격특성이 노후준비에 미치는 영향에서 결혼만족도의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of the study is to explore mediation effect of marriage satisfaction when personality traits of married female immigrants would influence the preparation for old age. The survey targets are married female immigrants who live in Seoul, Gyeonggi province, Chungcheong province, and Jeolla province, who are using the programs of Multicultural Center, and who could communicate each other. The analysis was also conducted on 426 of 450 questionnaires. The findings are as follows. First of all, extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, openness of personality traits appear as positive correlation with emotional preparation, physical preparation, financial preparation, marriage satisfaction. However, financial preparation has no correlation with neuroticism. Second, personality traits and marriage satisfaction explain about emotional preparation as 34.6 %, but there is no mediation effect of marriage satisfaction. Third, personality traits and marriage satisfaction explain about physical preparation as 28.1%. In addition, agreeableness and physical preparation have mediation effect of marriage satisfaction. Fourth, personality traits and marriage satisfaction explain about financial preparation as 15.9%.. Moreover, openness and financial preparation have mediation effect of marriage satisfaction.

Analysis of Domestic Research Trend on Women's Space (여성공간에 관한 선행연구 경향 분석)

  • Although women's status in society have been improving, the existing space for women's main activities is still perceived as limited in scope. In this respect, this study analyzes the domestic literature on women's space and discusses the space for women with intent to gain some implications for further studies on space associated with women. Articles on women's space were sub-classified in light of keywords, years of publication, sites, purposes, methods and journal categories, followed by network and frequency analyses. In addition, focus group interview was conducted to explore a new orientation for further studies. The degree centrality was found high in such keywords as 'women's clinics', 'CPTED', 'women-friendly cities' and 'femininity'. In addition, there is a paucity of studies on women's space. Recent studies have diversified the scope of women's space. At the same time, macroscopic 'urban' approaches to women's space have lately been emerging. Finally, the focus group interview on women's space highlighted the needs to further studies about 'femininity, 'maternity', and 'gender equality' in space, and 'safe environment'.
