A Camber Monitoring System of RM Zone based on Direction Selective Edge Detection Algorithm (방향 선택형 에지검출 알고리즘 기반의 RM존 캠버 모니터링 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose camber monitoring system which is using on hot rolling process. In roughing mill which is one of the rolling part in hot rolling process, steel plate can be bended in width direction under the imbalance of rolling condition. This bending of steel plate in width direction is called as camber. In order to measure the camber, first, cameras which are installed over transport pathway of steel plate take pictures of whole shape of steel plate. And location value of steel plate edge is extrated from these pictures by edge detection algorithm. But, there are a lot of noises which are generated by such as water sprays, dusts, peripheral equipments in these pictures, and these noises make edge detection difficult. In order to solve this kind of problem, we developed a direction selective edge detection algorithm, and applicated in our camber monitoring system. As a result, we got stable results in spite of process noises.

Recognition System of Car License Plate using Fuzzy Neural Networks (퍼지 신경망을 이용한 자동차 번호판 인식 시스템)

  • 매년 도로와 주차공간의 확장보다 차량의 수가 빠르게 증가하여 그에 따라 불법 주차 관리의 어려움이 증가하고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 지능형 주차 관리 시스템이 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 획득된 차량 영상에서 수직 에지의 특징을 이용하여 번호판 영역과 개별 코드를 추출하고, 추출된 개별 코드를 퍼지 신경망 알고리즘을 제안하여 학습 및 인식한다. 본 논문에서는 차량 번호판 영역을 검출하기 위해 프리윗 마스크를 적용하여 수직 에지를 찾고, 차량 번호판의 정보를 이용하여 잡음을 제거한 후에 차량 번호판 영역을 추출한다. 추출된 차량 번호판 영역은 반복 이진화방법을 적용하여 이진화하고, 이진화된 차량 번호판 영역에 대해서 수직 분포도와 수평 분포도를 이용하여 번호판의 개별 코드를 추출한다 추출된 개별 코드는 제안된 퍼지 신경망 알고리즘을 적용하여 인식한다. 제안된 퍼지 신경망은 입력층과 중간층간의 학습 구조로는 FCM 알고리즘을 적용하고 중간층과 출력층간의 학습 구조는 Max_Min 신경망을 적용한다. 제안된 방법의 추출 및 인식 성능을 평가하기 위하여 실제 차량 영상 150장을 대상으로 실험한 결과, 기존의 차량 번호판 인식 방법보다 효율적이고 인식 성능이 개선된 것을 확인하였다.

Demosaicing Algorithm by Gradient Edge Detection Filtering on Color Component (컬러 성분 에지 기울기 검출 필터링을 이용한 디모자이킹 알고리즘)

  • Digital cameras adopting a single CCD detector collect image color by subsampling in three color planes and successively interpolating the information to reconstruct full-resolution color images. Therefore, to recovery of a full-resolution color image from a color filter array (CFA) like the Bayer pattern is generally considered as an interpolation issue for the unknown color components. In this paper, we first calculate luminance component value by combining R, G, B channel component information which is quite different from the conventional demosaicing algorithm. Because conventional system calculates G channel component followed by computing R and B channel components. Integrating the obtained gradient edge information and the improved weighting function in luminance component, a new edge sensitive demosaicing technique is presented. Based on 24 well known testing images, simulation results proved that our presented high-quality demosaicing technique shows the best image quality performance when compared with several recently presented techniques.

A Technique for Image Processing of Concrete Surface Cracks (콘크리트 표면 균열의 영상 처리 기법)

  • Recently, further study is being done on the affect of crack on concrete structure and many people have made every endeavor not to leave it unsettled but to minimize it by repair works. In this paper we propose the image processing method that do not remain manual but automatically process the length, the direction and e width of cracks on concrete surface. First, we calibrate light's affect from image by using closing operation, one of morphology methods that can extract the feature of oracle and we extract the edge of crack image by sobel mask. After it, crack image is binarized by iteration binarization. And we extract the edge of cracks using noise elimination method that use an average of adjacent pixels by 3${\times}$3 mask and Glassfire Labeling algorithm. on, in this paper we propose an image processing method which can automatically measure the length, the direction and the width of cracks using the extracted edges of cracks. The results of experiment showed that the proposed method works better on the extraction of concrete cracks. Also our method showed the possibility that inspector's decision is unnecessary.

Object Detection Method in Sea Environment Using Fast Region Merge Algorithm (해양환경에서 고속 영역 병합 알고리즘을 이용한 물표 탐지 기법)

  • In this paper, we present a method to detect an object such as ship, rock and buoy from sea IR image for the safety navigation. To this end, we do the image smoothing first and the apply watershed algorithm to segment image into subregions. Since watershed algorithm almost always produces over-segmented regions, it requires posterior merging process to get meaningful segmented regions. We propose an efficient merger algorithm that requires only two times of direct access to the pixels regardless of the number of regions. Also by analyzing IR image obtained from sea environments, we could find out that most horizontal edge come out from object regions. For the given input IR image we extract horizontal edge and eliminate isolated edges produced from background and noises by adopting morphological operator. Among the segmented regions, the regions that have horizontal edges are extracted as final results. Experimental results show the adequacy of the proposed method.

  • A phase-locked loop (PLL)-based frequency synthesizer is proposed for a system on a chip (SoC) using multi-frequency clock signals. The proposed PLL-based frequency synthesizer consists of a charge pump PLL which is implemented by a phase frequency detector (PFD), a charge pump (CP), a loop filter, a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), and a frequency divider, and an edge combiner. The PLL outputs a 12-phase clock by a VCO using six differential delay cells. The edge combiner synthesizes the frequency of the output clock through edge combining and frequency division of the 12-phase output clock of the PLL. The proposed PLL-based frequency synthesizer is designed using a 55-nm CMOS process with a 1.2-V supply voltage. It outputs three clocks with frequencies of 166 MHz, 83 MHz and 124.5MHz for a reference clock with a frequency of 20.75 MHz.

Wafer Position Recognition Based on Generalized Symmetry Transform (일반화 대칭 변환 기반의 웨이퍼 위치 인식)

  • This paper proposes the wafer position recognition algorithm using camera. First, for eliminating the image distortions caused by the illumination and the irregular camera position, the wafer image is restored as a circle through projective transformation. Next, we use edge detection algorithm to extract the wafer's edge and then apply Generalized Symmetry Transform(GST) to extract a circle. The GST evaluates symmetry between two points by combining a distance weight function, a phase weight function, and a logarithmic mapping of the points' intensities and detecting interest regions. Trough several experiments, we found out the proposed method is able to prevent the cleaning system and the wafer from damaging.

  • Deformity detection in a Light Emitting Diode (LED) is an important aspect for improving its quality. These LED deformities can be checked through several methods. This paper details the automatic deformity detection inspection system of a LED using the LabVIEW Builder 3.6 software. This software has a graphical user interface which makes it easy to observe and modify the behavior of its element. The LabVIEWs essential elements are also presented and explained aside from its image acquisition system. Details on how to build an inspection system and how to implement vision inspection algorithm which mainly consists of edge detection, geometry point location, and distance measurement are included in this paper.

  • This paper proposes a method of automatically predicting the vanishing point for the purpose of detecting the road region from natural images. The proposed method stably detects the vanishing point in the road environment by analyzing the dominant orientation of the image and predicting the vanishing point to be at the position where the feature components of the image are concentrated. For this purpose, in the first stage, the image is partitioned into sub-blocks, an edge sample is selected randomly from within the sub-block, and RANSAC is applied for line fitting in order to analyze the dominant orientation of each sub-block. Once the dominant orientation has been detected for all blocks, we proceed to the second stage and randomly select line samples and apply RANSAC to perform the fitting of the intersection point, then measure the cost of the intersection model arising from each line and we predict the vanishing point to be located at the average point, based on the intersection point model with the highest cost. Lastly, quantitative and qualitative analyses are performed to verify the performance in various situations and prove the efficiency of the proposed algorithm for detecting the vanishing point.

  • Recently, it is important to process multimedia data efficiently. Especially, in case of retrieval of multimedia information, technique of user interface and retrieval technique are necessary. This paper proposes a new technique which detects cuts effectively in compressed image information by MPEG. A cut is a turning point of scenes. The cut-detection is the basic work and the first-step for video indexing and retrieval. Existing methods have a weak point that they detect wrong cuts according to change of a screen such as fast motion of an object, movement of a camera and a flash. Because they compare between previous frame and present frame. The proposed technique detects shots at first using DC(Direct Current) coefficient of DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform). The database is composed of these detected shots. Features are extracted by HMMD color model and edge histogram descriptor(EHD) among the MPEG-7 visual descriptors. And detections are performed in sequence by the proposed matching technique. Through this experiments, an improved video segmentation system is implemented that it performs more quickly and precisely than existing techniques have.
