  • Edges on the images are widely used in preprocessing in various areas including recognition and detection of the object. As generally known edge detection methods, there is a method using mask and these methods are Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Laplacian operator and etc. Implementation of these existing edge detection methods is simple. However, when processing the impulse noise added images, the properties of edge detection is not sufficient. Accordingly, in order to compensate for the weakness of existing edge detection methods and to detect strong edges on the images which were damaged by impulse noise, the edge detection algorithm using transformed mask was proposed in this paper.

  • Edge detection is an essential preprocessing for most image processing application, and there are several existing detection methods such as Sobel, Roberts, Laplacian, LoG(Laplacian of Gaussian) operators, etc. Those existing edge detection methods have not given satisfactory results since they do not offer enough pixel brightness change in low light level environment. Therefore, in this study new algorithms using brightness transfer function in the preprocessing and for edge detection applying standard deviation and average-weighted local masks are proposed. In addition, the performance of proposed algorithms was evaluated in comparison with the existing edge detection methods such as Sobel, Roberts, Prewitt, Laplacian, LoG operators.

  • Edge detection includes information such as the shape, position, size, and material of an object with respect to an image, and is a very important factor in analyzing the characteristics of the image. Existing edge detection methods include Sobel edge detection filter, Roberts edge detection filter, Prewitt edge detection filter, and LoG (Lapacian of Gaussian) using secondary differentials. However, these methods have a disadvantage in that the edge detection results are somewhat insufficient because a fixed weight mask is applied to the entire image area. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an edge detection algorithm that increases edge detection characteristics by considering the center pixel in the mask. In addition, in order to confirm the proposed edge detection performance, it was compared through simulation result images.

  • In this paper, we design edge class that can processed digital image effectively, edge is a important information including the point of shape information for a object detection or recognition in the digital image. Therefore, it is of very importance, which managed effectively the edge and can use a variety availability in digital image Processing, after edge detection. The environment using the existing digital image processing system has limits of use and speed. In this paper, we design edge class that can managed detected edges and it analyzes existing methods by edge detection algorithm.

  • Edge has been utilized in various application fields with development of technique of digital image processing. In conventional edge detection methods, there are some methods using mask including Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts and Laplacian operator. Those methods are that implement is simple but generates errors of edge detection in images added AWGN(additive white Gaussian noise). Therefore, to compensate the defect of those methods, in this paper, an edge detection algorithm using modified mask is proposed, and it showed superior edge detection property in AWGN.

  • Character recognition is an image processing technique for obtaining the character information such as documents and automobile license plate and for this edge detection methods are commonly used. The previous edge detection methods are mostly applying the weighted value mask on the image and because it applies the same mask to the entire areas of the image, the processing results are somewhat insufficient. Therefore, this paper has proposed an edge detection algorithm by applying the weighted value mask considering the distribution and location of pixels to be suitable for the character recognition.

  • In this paper we employ two-sample location tests such as Wilcoxon test and T test for detecting edges in noisy images. For this, we compute a test statistic on pixel gray levels obtained using an edge-height parameter and compare it with a threshold determined by a significance level. Experimental results applied to sample images are given and performances of these tests in terms of the objective measure are compared.

  • The edge detection is a pre-processing of such as image segmentation, image recognition, etc, and many related studies are being conducted both in domestic and abroad. Representative edge detection methods are Sobel, Prewitt, Laplacian, Roberts and Canny edge detectors. Such existing methods are possible for superb detections of edges if edges are detected from videos without noises. However, for video degraded by the salt-and-pepper noise, the edge detection characteristic is shown to be insufficient due to the noise influence. Therefore, in this study, the area is separated as the top, down, left and right from the mask's center pixel first to acquire a superb edge detection characteristic from the video damaged by the salt-and-pepper noise. And the algorithm that detects the final edge by applying the directional mask on the assumed factor of mask that is obtained according to the result of determination for the noise status of representative pixel value of each area.

  • 본 논문은 차량 영역에 나타나는 수평, 수직 에지 특성만을 이용하여 빠르고 효율적으로 차량을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 차량을 포함하는 입력영상의 긴 수직 에지 성분을 찾아 차량의 후보 영역을 결정한다. 영상의 에지 성분의 누적 대신 연속적으로 나타나는 긴 수직 에지 성분을 찾음으로써 차량의 후보 영역의 검출과 동시에 중요한 정보를 담고 있는 도로와 접하는 차량의 하단부를 함께 검출한다. 후보 영역 내에서 차량과 비 차량을 구분하는 검증 단계에서는 차량의 후면의 대칭성(Symmetry)을 이용하여 후보 영역 내에서 차량이 있을 가능성이 있는 바닥 점 위에서 좌측과 우측의 유사도(Matching rate)를 이용하여 차량과 비 차량을 판별한다. 기존의 템플릿 기반 방법이나 외관 기반 방법이 아닌 에지 성분만을 이용하여 후보 영역을 결정하고 검증하기 때문에 다른 검출 기법들에 비해 비교적 검출 시간이 짧고 실시간 차량 검출에 적합하다.

  • 본 논문은 웨이블릿 필터를 이용하여 홍채영상의 에지를 검출하고 패턴매칭 기법을 적용하여 홍채의 결함조직에 대한 위치를 추정하는 연구이다. 필터는 웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 2차원 주파수 영역의 고역통과 필터를 사용하여 홍채영상의 에지를 검출하고, 이를 표준진단패턴과 오버랩 매칭으로 결함조직을 검출한다. 실험결과 처리속도가 기존의 에지검출기법에 비해 처리속도향상과 에지검출영상의 PSNR 증가에 따라 오버랩 패턴매칭기법에 의한 인식률에서 92%로 홍채결함조직을 자동 진단시스템에 응용 가능하다.
