An Improved Snake Algorithm Using Neighbouring Edges (근접 에지를 이용한 개선된 스네이크 알고리즘)

  • This paper presents an improved Snake algorithm that contains additional energy term related to adjacent edges. The suggested algorithm represents the distance between an adjacent edge and the current cell as energy, and extracts object contours more effectively by including the energy tenn to the whole energy function. The adjacent edge-based snake algorithm not only make it possible to detect object boundaries which are concave, but also can detect the boundaries of complex objects without weight adjustment. Experimental results show that the proposed method extracts object boundaries more accurately than other existing methods without loss of speed.

  • 영상처리 분야에서 이미지 샤프닝 기법은 주관적 화질 향상에 큰 역할을 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 모폴로지 기법을 이용한 향상된 이미지 샤프닝 알고리듬을 제안한다. 기존의 Sobel이나 Laplacian 연산자는 에지 검출에 있어서 잡음에 취약하다는 단점이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 잡음에 상대적으로 민감하지 않은 모폴로지 기법을 이용했다. 우선, 침식 연산을 수행한 이미지와 원본 이미지와의 차를 통해 에지를 얻는다. 이 에지는 원본 이미지의 히스토그램의 표준 편자 값을 기반으로 원본 이미지와 가중합을 통해 에지를 중점적으로 선명하게 만든다. 실험을 통해 제안하는 알고리듬은 기존의 Sobel이나 Laplacian 연산자 보다 우수한 성능을 보임을 알 수 있었다.

  • A new roof edge detection method based on multi level scales of wavelet function is proposed in this paper roof edge and its direction are obtained in this new methods at one time. Besides. scale characteristics of detecting roof edge is analyzed. And a few new methods on fingerprint image pre-processing are described. A method segmenting foreground/background of fingerprint images is proposed, in which Prior estimation of direction field is not required any more. A segmentation method based on multi-scale roof edges is implemented. and the valid scale range of the method is defined. too. And the method is used to segment ridges and valleys in fingerprint images simultaneously The exact direction fields made up of the direction of each point in ridges can be obtained when detecting ridges exactly based on the roof edge detector, in comparison with the traditional coarse estimation of direction fields. Obviously. it will establish a solid foundation for the sequent fingerprint identification.

  • 본 논문은 3차원 형상 인식시스템으로부터 스캔 한 3차일 영상 데이터의 깊이정보에 3차원 에지를 추출하여 워터마크를 삽입하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘에서는 3차원 수직 평형 형상 인식기로 object scanning을 한 데이터 값들을 추출한다. 이 추출된 값들의 특성은 2차원 영상 즉 x, y축에 각각의 픽셀에 깊이정보를 가지는 3차원영상으로서 기존의 3차원영상과는 다른 차이를 가지며 영상의 품질이 우수하며 많은vertex 정보와 메쉬 정보를 가지고 있다. 따라서 획득된 데이터에서 x좌표와 y좌표는 영상에 있어서 위치를 나타내는 정보이고, T좌표는 3차원영상을 형성하는 깊이 정보들이다. 3차원 형상 인식시스템에서 스캔 한 3차원 얼굴영상으로부터 에지를 검출하여 에지가 존재하는 위치에 워터마크를 삽입하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 워터마킹 알고리즘의 성능 평가를 위한 모의실험 한 결과 워터마크가 삽입된 모텔의 절단(cropping), 리메쉬(remesh) 및 메쉬간소화(mesh simplification) 공격에 대한 견고성이 우수함을 확인함으로써 3차원형상 인식 시스템에 직접적인 워터마크 삽입이 가능함을 증명하였다.

Text Region Extraction using Pattern Histogram of Character-Edge Map in Natural Images (문자-에지 맵의 패턴 히스토그램을 이용한 자연이미지에서의 텍스트 영역 추출)

  • The text to be included in the natural images has many important information in the natural image. Therefore, if we can extract the text in natural images, It can be applied to many important applications. In this paper, we propose a text region extraction method using pattern histogram of character-edge map. We extract the edges with the Canny edge detector and creates 16 kind of edge map from an extracted edges. And then we make a character-edge map of 8 kinds that have a character feature with a combination of an edge map. We extract text region using 8 kinds of character-edge map and 16 kind of edge map. Verification of text candidate region uses analysis of a character-edge map pattern histogram and structural feature of text region. The method to propose experimented with various kind of the natural images. The proposed approach extracted text region from a natural images to have been composed of a complex background, various letters, various text colors effectively.

A Scheme of Extracting Forward Vehicle Area Using the Acquired Lane and Road Area Information (차선과 도로영역 정보를 이용한 전방 차량 영역의 추출 기법)

  • This paper proposes a new algorithm of extracting forward vehicle areas using the acquired lanes and road area information on road images with complex background to improve the efficiency of the vehicle detection. In the first stage, lanes are detected by taking into account the connectivity among the edges which are determined from a method of chain code. Once the lanes proceeding to the same direction with the running vehicle are detected, neighborhood roadways are found from the width and vanishing point of the acquired roadway of the running vehicle. And finally, vehicle areas, where forward vehicles are located on the road area including the center and neighborhood roadways, are extracted. Therefore, the proposed scheme of extracting forward vehicle area improves the rate of vehicle detection on the road images with complex background, and is highly efficient because of detecting vehicles within the confines of the acquired vehicle area. The superiority of the proposed algorithm is verified from experiments of the vehicle detection on road images with complex background.

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG-2 압축영상에서 뉴스 색인을 위한 개선된 장면(Shot)전환 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 검출 알고리즘은 압축된 비디오 시퀀스에서 추출한 특징정보인 에지정보와 컬러정보를 함께 사용하여 GOP단위의 빠르고 효율적인 장면전환 검출 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 제안된 알고리즘은 장면전환 검출뿐만 아니라 내용 기반(content - based) 비디오 검색 등에도 효과적으로 이용될 수 있다.

Information Fusion of Photogrammetric Imagery and Lidar for Reliable Building Extraction (광학 영상과 Lidar의 정보 융합에 의한 신뢰성 있는 구조물 검출)

  • We propose a new building detection and description algorithm for Lidar data and photogrammetric imagery using color segmentation, line segments matching, perceptual grouping. Our algorithm consists of two steps. In the first step, from the initial building regions extracted from Lidar data and the color segmentation results from the photogrammetric imagery, we extract coarse building boundaries based on the Lidar results with split and merge technique from aerial imagery. In the secondstep, we extract precise building boundaries based on coarse building boundaries and edges from aerial imagery using line segments matching and perceptual grouping. The contribution of this algorithm is that color information in photogrammetric imagery is used to complement collapsed building boundaries obtained by Lidar. Moreover, linearity of the edges and construction of closed roof form are used to reflect the characteristic of man-made object. Experimental results on multisensor data demonstrate that the proposed algorithm produces more accurate and reliable results than Lidar sensor.

  • This paper proposes a method for detecting edge using an evolutionary programming and a momentum back-propagation algorithm. The evolutionary programming does not perform crossover operation as to consider reduction of capability of algorithm and calculation cost, but uses selection operator and mutation operator. The momentum back-propagation algorithm uses assistant to weight of learning step when weight is changed at learning step. Because learning rate o is settled as less in last back-propagation algorithm the momentum back-propagation algorithm discard the problem that learning is slow as relative reduction because change rate of weight at each learning step. The method using EP-MBP is batter than GA-BP method in both learning time and detection rate and showed the decreasing learning time and effective edge detection, in consequence.

  • This paper describes a modified binary phase detector (Bang-Bang phase detector - BBPD) for jitter reduction in clock and data recovery (CDR) circuits. The proposed PD reduces ripples in the VCO control voltage resulting in reduced jitter for CDR circuits. A 2.5 Gbps CDR circuit with a proposed BBPD has been designed and verified using Dongbu $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. Simulation shows the CDR with proposed PD recovers data with peak-to-peak jitter of 10.96ps, rms jitter of 0.86ps, and consumes 16.9mW.
