An electron Boltzmann equation is solved numerically to calculate the electron energy distribution functions in plasma discharge which is generated by radio-frequency (RF) and microwave frequency electric field. The maintenance field strengths are determined self-consistently by solving the homogeneous electron Boltzmann equation in the Lorentz approximation expressed by 2nd order differential equation and an additional particle balance equation expressed by integro-differential equation. By using this numerical code, the electron energy distribution functions in argon discharge are calculated in the range from RF to microwave frequency. The influence of frequency of the HF electric field on the electron energy distribution functions and ionization rate are investigated.

In this paper, we present a strategy to extend solution capability of an existing low Mach number preconditioned compressible solver to incompressible flows with a little modification. To this end, the energy equation that is of the same form of the total energy equation of compressible flows is used. The energy equation is obtained by a linear combination of the thermal energy equation, the continuity equation and the mechanical energy equation. Subsequently, a modified artificial compressibility method in conjunction with a time marching technique is applied to these incompressible governing equations for steady flow solutions. It is found that the Roe average of the common governing equations is equally valid for both the compressible and incompressible flow conditions. The extension of an existing compressible solver to incompressible flows does not affect the original compressible flow analysis. Validity for incompressible flow analysis of the extended solver is examined for various inviscid, laminar and turbulent flows.

Considering an integral equation governing the motion of unfolding fin, an algebraic equation was acquired to get estimated minimum deployment energy required for the successful fin unfolding under the given wind condition. To complete the integration of moment, some approximations had to be introduced particularly to frictional moment and aerodynamic damping for which deployment angular speed of the unfolding fin was modelled as a function of deployment angle only with assumed profile using expected maximum angular speed. Technique for the estimation of the minimum required deployment energy was finalized by introducing the ideal deployment angular speed representing work done by the fin unfolding device alone during fin unfolding and was confirmed by comparing results from simulation with various aerodynamic conditions and profiles of the hinge torque.
Characterisation of the stress-strain relationship as well as crashworthiness of cellular polymer was investigated under constant impact energy with different velocities, considering inertia and strain rate effects simultaneously during the impact testing. Quasi-static and impact tests were carried out for two different density (64 $kg/m^3$, 89 $kg/m^3$) cellular polymer specimens. Also, the equations, coupled with the Sherwood-Frost model and the Impulse-Momentum theory, were employed to build the constitutive relation of the cellular polymer. The nominal stress-strain curves obtained from the constitutive relation were compared with results from impact tests and showed to be in good agreement.
Conventionally, the second-order self-adjoint neutron transport equations have been studied using the even parity and the odd parity equations. Recently, however, the SAAF(self-adjoint angular flux) form of neutron transport equation has been introduced as a new option for the second-order self-adjoint equations. In this paper we validated the SAAF equation mathematically and clarified how it relates with the existing even and odd parity equations. We also developed a second-order SAAF differencing formula including DSA(diffusion synthetic acceleration) from the first-order difference equations. Numerical result is attached to show that the proposed methods increases accuracy with effective computational effort.
