Analysis of Participation Hindrance Factors Cyber home study in Elementary education (초등교육에서 사이버가정학습 참여 저해요인 분석)

  • 이 연구는 초등교육에서 사이버가정학습의 참여를 저해하는 요인을 도출하고, 그 요인 중 가장 영향을 많이 미치는 요인을 찾음으로써 참여율을 제고하는데 목적이 있다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 선행연구 분석을 통해 8가지 잠정적 저해요인(학습동기 및 태도의 문제, 컴퓨터에 대한 부담감, 컴퓨터 사용의 어려움, 새로운 학습방법의 어려움, 학습설계의 문제, 상호작용의 어려움, 화면설계의 문제, 환경상의 문제)를 도출하였다. 이에 따라 33문항으로 구성된 설문지를 제작하여 사이버가정학습을 실시하고 있는 초등학교(3학년~6학년 학생 429명)을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 로지스틱 회귀분석을 통해 분석한 결과, 초등교육에서 사이버가정학습 참여 저해에 영향을 주는 요인은 학습동기 및 태도의 문제, 컴퓨터 사용의 어려움, 컴퓨터에 대한 부담감, 새로운 학습방법의 어려움, 학습설계의 문제 이었다. 이중에서 참여 저해에 대한 영향력은 컴퓨터에 대한 부담감, 새로운 학습방법에 대한 어려움, 컴퓨터 사용의 어려움, 학습설계의 문제 순으로 4가지였다. 즉, 컴퓨터에 대한 부담감, 새로운 학습방법에 대한 어려움, 컴퓨터 사용의 어려움, 학습설계의 문제가 적을수록 지속할 가능성이 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 토대로 초등교육에서 사이버가정학습 참여율을 제고하기 위해서 다음과 같은 결론을 내릴 수 있다. 첫째, 초등학생을 대상으로 한 사이버가정학습 운영 시 컴퓨터에 대한 부담감이나 새로운 학습방법에 대한 어려움, 컴퓨터 사용의 어려움이 있는지 고려해 초등학생에 맞는 적절한 학습설계를 구축하는 것이 중요하다. 둘째, 초등교육에서 사이버가정학습의 참여 저해요인에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 컴퓨터에 대한 부담감을 줄이기 위해 학습자가 컴퓨터에 대한 두려움을 없애주고 컴퓨터가 학습에 유용하다고 느낄 수 있도록 초등학생을 위한 맞춤형 교수설계 및 콘텐츠 개발로 컴퓨터에 쉽게 접근하고 즐거움을 느낄 수 있도록 유도해야 한다.

Pre-service Science Teachers' Difficulties in the 'Inquiry Mentoring' Program ('탐구 멘토링' 프로그램에서 예비 과학교사들이 겪은 어려움)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate pre-service science teachers' difficulties in the 'inquiry mentoring' program, which was developed to improve pre-service science teachers' inquiry teaching ability. For this study, I developed the 'inquiry mentoring' program in which pre-service science teachers taught high school students. This program was adapted for 2.5 months, and 45 pre-service science teachers participated and taught 44 high school students. During this program, pre-service science teachers kept 'mentor diaries' and wrote 'mentoring reports' at the end of the program. Interviews were conducted with all pre-service science teachers. Results are as follows: first, pre-service science teachers thought that the difficulties in inquiry mentoring resulted from their inadequacy (mentor factor) than students' inadequacy (mentee factor). Second, pre-service science teachers perceived their lack of cognitive ability, inquiry ability and teaching ability as a mentor factor. Third, pre-service science teachers thought that they had difficulties in students' differences and lack of activity as a mentee factor. Fourth, they described difficulties caused by emotional distance as well as physical distance as an interaction factor. They also mentioned the difficulties related to teaching range and online interaction. Fifth, pre-service science teachers expressed a sense of frustration with the inquiry environment. Additionally, some implications were discussed for pre-service science teacher education through the 'inquiry mentoring' program.

The impact of male-oriented organizational culture and work-job conflict on female correctional officers' stress (교정조직문화와 여성교도관들의 성차별적 스트레스요인에 대한 분석연구)

  • The prior studies have well established the factors of correctional staff's stress at work. However, it is not clearly identified gender-specific factors influencing female correctional officers' level of stress. Thus, this study aims to examine factors particularly influencing female correctional officers' stress, such as child-rearing and work conflict, overwork bounden, and strains from male-oriented organizational culture. This current data utilized a set of survey data drawn from female correctional officers from 124 prisons located in different regions in this nation. Finally, a total of 172 female correctional officers's survey data was used for the analysis. A set of multivariate analyses reveal that security staff role, satisfaction for life, positive perception toward correctional officers' leadership in prison decreased the risk of stress among female correctional officers. Regarding work-job conflicts variables, child-rearing and work conflict and strains from male-oriented organizational culture were significantly associated with female correctional officers' stress. Yet, the direction of the two variables were different. For female officers, child-rearing and work conflict was not a risk factor for stress in that i decreased the level of stress. But the variable of strains from male-oriented organizational culture was a risk factor for female officers' stress level. Further suggestions for the future studies, discussion on contributions of the current study and policy implications were discussed in the last part of this article.

Effects of Cognitive Impairment on Self-reported Hearing Handicap in Older Adults with Early-stage Presbycusis (초기 노인성 난청자에서 인지장애가 일상생활 듣기 어려움에 미치는 영향)

  • Everyday hearing handicap caused by presbycusis ultimately reduces quality of life in older adults. The aim of this study was to explore effects of cognitive impairment on self-reported hearing handicap in older adults with early-stage presbycusis. We compared K-HHIE scores between 40 elderly subjects with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and age- and hearing-threshold matched 40 cognitively normal elderly (CNE) subjects. The results are as follows: 1) The MCI group scored significantly higher than the CNE group on the social/situational and emotional sections, and in total. 2) The MCI group scored significantly higher than the CNE group on all four subscales, and the most significant group difference was on the first subscale relating to interpersonal relationships and social handicaps. 3) Both groups scored highest on the item 8 (problems hearing whispering sounds) and item 15 (problems hearing TV or radio sounds). Besides those two items, the MCI group also scored high on the item 21 (problems hearing in a restaurant), item 6 (problems hearing when attending a party), item 3 (avoiding groups of people), and item 20 (personal or social restrictions). Our findings suggest that, among older adults with early-stage presbycusis, older adults with cognitive impairment tend to report greater everyday hearing handicap than their peers with normal cognitive function. Especially, they show significant problems hearing in background noise or multi-talker situations, which cause social restrictions and social/emotional loneliness.

Kindergarten Teacher's Difficulties the Relationships between Teacher and Parents (교사-부모 관계에서 경험하는 유치원 교사의 어려움)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify difficulties in the relationships between kindergarten teachers and parents and find out factors that make the relationship difficult. The research questions are as follows: Firstly, what are the difficulties of the kindergarten teachers in making relationship with the parents? Secondly, what are the reactions of the kindergarten teachers toward the difficulties in making relationships with the parents? The research participants were 15 teachers of private kindergartens located in C city. Semi-structured interviews were administered to the participants. Their responses were categorized into several themes while examining transcribed data continuously. The difficulties expressed by the kindergarten teachers were analyzed into "Teacher aspect" and "Parent aspect". The research findings were as follows. Firstly, the teachers found difficulty with particular characteristics of parents and their demands. Also, teachers found difficulty with making positive relationships with the parents because they perceived problems from their own perspective. Secondly, The teachers' reactions towards the difficulties of the relationships with the parents appeared into 4 different types.

Analysis of Factors Hindering Learners' Participation in Cyber Home Study in Elementary Education (초등교육에서 사이버가정학습 참여 저해요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that influence elementary school learners' participation in cyber home study, and to suggest possible solutions to problem of the participation rates. To identify the factors, we analyzed the literature and developed a questionnaire consisting of 8 possible factors and 33 items. Data gathered from 429 elementary school learners were analyzed in a logistic regression model, which was utilized to determine the probability of the learner's participation in cyber home study because of any of the identified variables. We studied the following variables: problem from learning motivation & attitude, burden from computer, difficulty of new learning method, problem from instructional design, difficulty of interaction, problem from screen design, and problem from learning environment. The results indicated that two factors were important: burden from computer, difficulty of new learning method. That is to say, having a low level of burden of computer and difficulty of new learning method helps improve the rate of elementary school learners' participation in cyber home study.

Development and Validation of Psychological Difficulties Scale of Working Moms (워킹맘 심리적 어려움 척도 개발 및 타당화: 대졸이상 고학력 워킹맘 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Psychological Difficulties Scale of Working Moms(PDSWM). In the first study, 69items and 17 factors of the inventory were obtained based on interview, open-ended questionnaires. In the second study, the on-line surveys from 306 working mom was carried to analyze factor structure of the PDSWM. The final result showed that the 12 factor model with 64 items was appropriate. The third study was collected from 638 working mom and in order to make certain the cross-validity of the inventory, the group was divided into two groups (each group with 319 employees). The results of exploratory factor analyses using data of group 1 showed that the 8 factor structure with 48 items was appropriate. Also the results of confirmatory factor analysis using data of group 2 showed that the 8 factor structure indicated a satisfactory fit. Final 8 factors were as follows: 1) Feeling Apologetic to family members 2) Discrimination at workplace 3) burnt-out: both body and mind 4) Unequal distribution of child-rearing and house chore labor 5) Conflict with the babysitter/grandparents 6) Limit in further strengthening work competency 7) Social prejudice 8) Difficulty being on time for work. The PDSWM was significantly correlated with various criteria such as organizational commitment, life satisfaction, and work engagement. Based on such findings, implications, limitations, and the suggestions for future study were discussed.

Factors that Help and Hinder South Korean Teachers' Bereavement Following Student Suicide: A Concept-Mapping Approach (학생 자살 후 교사의 애도 경험에 관한 개념도 연구: 어려움 및 도움 요인)

  • This study aimed to identify the factors that helped and hindered secondary school teachers who experienced student suicide using the concept-mapping approach. Seven South Korean middle and high school teachers were interviewed from which 113 core statements were elicited. The participants sorted these core statements into categories by meaning. Multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis were conducted to identify the underlying structure of the teachers' experiences. Four hindering factor clusters emerged: (1) regret over failing to prevent the suicide, (2) an apathetic atmosphere in the school, (3) a sense of helplessness related to suicide survivors, and (4) approach-avoidance conflicts related to suicide survivors. Six helpful factor clusters emerged: (1) cooperation and care offered between suicide survivors, (2) focusing on the present, busy life, (3) spiritual activity, (4) social support, (5) overcoming grief through altruistic behaviors, and (6) sympathy for the deceased. Two dimensions were found for both the hindering and helpful factors. The hindering factor dimensions were external system-internal experiences and related to suicide survivors-related to suicide decedents. The helpful factor dimensions were distancing from the loss-approaching the loss and professional activities-personal activities. The present study empirically explored and described the underlying structure of teachers' bereavement experiences after student suicides.

Determinants of the Utilization of Micro-enterprise Support Services (소액창업 지원서비스 이용에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석)

  • This study was designed to analyze, by using a hierarchical logistic regression analysis method, how difficulties in business start-ups and personal characteristics independently determine the utilization of micro-enterprise support services. The services were categorized into eight areas: capital, technical service, psychological service, item feasibility and business plan, site selection and interior service, marketing, finance and accounting, employment service. This study found that difficulties in business start-ups were a significant factor in six areas. Personal characteristics were a significant factor in four areas, when difficulties in start-ups were controlled. Among the personal characteristics, higher possibility of service utilization was anticipated in people with start-ups experience than people without experience, and in women than men. This results point out that service strategies should be targeted for people with difficulties in order to improve the accessibility of micro-enterprises support services. The results also indicate that the strategies should be considered for people with no start-ups experience, low academic ability, and female entrepreneurs who are vulnerable.

  • 원자력에너지는 최근 몇 년간 여러 가지 요인으로 인해 많은 어려움을 겪어 왔다. 천연가스 가격의 하락, 신재생 에너지의 보급 확대를 위한 국가 보조금 지급, 그리고 일부 지역에서의 전력 수요 둔화 등과 같은 요인으로 인해 원자력 발전의 경쟁력은 상당히 약화된 것이 사실이다. 그러나 최근 들어 그와 같은 상황이 바뀌고 있는 강력한 징후들이 곳곳에서 발견되고 있다. 올해 원자력 발전은 지난 몇 년간의 어려움에서 벗어나 새롭게 부활할 것이다.
