Texture Evolutions in Al sheet during the deep drawing process (Al 판재의 디프 드로잉 공정에서의 집합조직 변화 고찰)

  • $\alpha$형과 $\beta$형 섬유조직의 압연 집합조직을 초기 집합조직으로 갖는 알루미늄 판재의 디프드로잉 공정시 집합조직 변화를 고찰하였다. 플랜지 변형 단계에서는 Bs성분은 감소하 였으며, Goss, Cu, P등의 성분들은 증가하였다. 컵의 윗쪽에서는 아랫쪽에 비하여 Goss, Cu 성분은 증가하고 P성분의 변화는 적었다. 이는 컵의 윗쪽에서는 플랜지에서 받은 평면변형 의 정도가 컵의 아랫쪽에 비하여 크기 때문이다. 실제 디프드로잉 공정에서의 변형량에서는 결정들이 안정방위로의 회전경로인 $\alpha$D형의 섬유와 $\beta$D형의 섬유로 이동하게 된다.

  • Sunroof tracks are manufactured by press-forming extruded aluminum sheets. During press forming, cracking occurs along the sharply bent edge. The final positions of the punch and die were measured on the section, and their relation to cracking was investigated. Finite element simulation of bending to the final position was done to find the critical strains. Three-point bending tests with different material orientations, hardnesses, bending edge lengths, and bending radii were carried out in the laboratory, and finite element simulation of the three-point bending tests was performed to find the critical strains.

  • In the automobile industry, reducing the weight is the most important objective for reducing air pollution and improving the fuel efficiency. For this reason, the application of aluminum sheets is increasing. When the sheets are applied to the automobile, using inappropriate variables for the material, product design, and press processing can generate tearing, wrinkling, and spring-back problems, which are the main types of failure in the manufacturing process. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce these failures by harmonizing the many variables and strictly managing the processes. In this research, we study the theoretical plasticity instability of Al5454 and obtain the forming limit diagram (FLD) using MATLAB. Moreover, we compare the theoretical FLD with an experimental FLD obtained from a stretching test.

A Study on the Structure Analysis Optimization of Die Cam Drive Considering the Thin Plate Hardening (박판판재 경화를 고려한 다이 캠 드라이브의 구조해석 최적화에 대한연구)

  • According to the forming or bending deformation in the press die, the thin plate occurs a work-hardening, the sheet hardening and cam unit's deformation causes incomplete forming during the cam molding process by the reacting spring forces. This study treated the input parameters of the stress and strain as given properties and also used Cam forming pressure considering the sheet hardening in the forming process of the aluminum sheet. The Hyperstudy are operated be linked with the Abaqus of the finite element analysis tool and the shape of Cam were carried out with non-linear shape optimization analysis. As a result removing the deformation of plate, the cam shape were optimized under conditions reduced deformation, having a minimum stress range and the minimum deformation. Therefore, a stress-strain curve and a normal distribution of stress-thickness can be obtained and optimization could be obtained for the shape of the stress and strain on the die plate hardened cam considering the thickness and reaction force of gas spring as iteration process.

  • Used aluminum beverage can(UBC) is an important secondary resource. Domestic recycling rate of UBC should be increased from the standpoint of resource savings and environmental protection. Aluminum can to can recycling is divided into two steps. The first step was composed of the processes such as collection of used beverage cans, shredding, magnetic separation, de-lacquring, melting and casting. The second is remelting and casting, heat treatment, hot and cold rolling, annealing, and can making. With brief discussion about this recycling technology, this article covers aluminum can consumption, the present state of aluminum can recycling in Korea, Japan, USA, and Europe.

  • A self-piercing rivet (SPR) is a mechanical component for joining dissimilar material sheets such as those of aluminum alloy and steel. Unlike conventional rivets, the SPR directly pierces sheets without the need for drilling them beforehand. However, the regular SPR can undergo buckling when it pierces a high-strength steel sheet, warranting the design of a helical SPR. In this study, the joining and forging processes using the helical SPR were simulated using the commercial FEM code, DEFORM-3D. High-tensile-strength steel sheets of different strengths were joined with aluminum alloy sheets using the designed helical SPR. The simulation results were found to agree with the experimental results, validating the optimal design of a helical SPR that can pierce high-strength steel sheets.

기술현황분석 - 알루미늄 차체부품의 SPR 접합기술 동향

  • 자동차 차체 경량화를 위해 알루미늄 스페이스 프레임 구조가 개발되고 있으나, 관재결합이 필요하기 때문에 기존의 저항 점용접이 적용되기 어렵다. 또한, 멤버와 멤버의 연결부에서는 철강재난 고강도 재료의 사용이 요구되므로 이종재료 접합기술이 필요하다. 알루미늄 및 이종재료 접합방법으로는 볼트체결, 클린칭, SPR 접합, 접착재 등이 있으나, SPR 접합은 기계적인 결합방법의 하나로, 일반 리벳공정과는 달리 별도의 홀이 필요없기 때문에 자동화에 용이하며 작업시간도 빠르다. 리벳의 압입 방식으로 판재의 열변형이 거의 없고 친환경적인 공법으로 사용되고 있으며, 소음이 적고, 용접이 불가능한 이종재료의 결합도 가능하다. 무엇보다 자동차 양산용 장비 적용이 용이하기 때문에 기존의 저항 점용접을 대체하기 편리하다. 따라서, 본 글에서는 알루미늄 차체 부품 접합을 위한 SPR 접합공법에 대한 국내외 기술개발 동향을 분석하고, 한국기계연구원에서의 최근 기술개발 내용을 소개하고자 한다.

A Study on Fracture Behaviors of Single-Edge-Notched Glass Fiber/Aluminum Laminates Using Acoustic Emission (음향방출법을 이용한 편측노치를 갖는 유리섬유/알루미늄 적층판의 파괴거동 해석)

  • Fracture behaviors of single-edge-notched monolithic aluminum plates and glass fiber/aluminum laminates under tensile loadings have been studied using acoustic emission(AE) monitoring. AE signals from monolithic aluminum could beclassified into two different types. For glass fiber/aluminum laminates, AE signals with high amplitude and long duration were additionally confirmed on FFT frequency analysis, which corresponded to macrocrack propagation and/or delamination. AE source location determined by signal arrival time showed the zone of fracture. On the basis of the above AE analysis and fracture observation, characteristic features of fracture processes of single-edge-notched glass fiber/aluminum laminates were elucidated according to different fiber ply orientations and fiber/aluminum lay-up ratios.
